sNorkeL, WiLdLife & adveNTure Tour! mariNe safari

Join us on an action-packed full day tour exploring the remarkable Shark Bay Marine Park from both above and below the water! The Marine Safari aims to provide our guests with the ultimate Shark Bay experience. Our well-trained crew will take you to see Steep Point, the westernmost point of mainland Australia and the Zuytdorp cliffs, help you set foot on Dirk Hartog Island and visit 3 amazing snorkel sites within the pristine South Passage. We also aim to show you as much incredible marine life as we can with Dolphins, Dugongs, Turtles, Sharks and Rays abundant in these waters all year round. Humpback Whales can also be seen from July to November.

Why choose us?Owned and run by Marine Biologists, at Shark Bay Dive our mission is to educate our guests on the importance of Marine Conservation and what better place to do that than on the water and within a World Heritage listed Marine Park. Our Marine Biologist guides will conduct wildlife talks throughout the day, immersing you in the fascinating ecology of our region and are more than happy to answer all your questions to make the day as educational as possible.

creWAll snorkel guides are certified PADI professional and there will be at least one Marine Biologist crew member on every tour (sometimes there will be three!). Our skippers have a combined 30 years experience captaining vessels in Shark Bay

our vesseLsWe have two vessels that operate our Marine Safari. For groups of up to 12 Adults we use “Woomerangee” our purpose built 11m power catamaran. The fastest and most comfortable cat in the bay “Wooma” is perfectly designed for smaller groups and allows easy access in and out of the water. Wooma has a single marine toilet, comfortable bench seating and protection from the elements

The newest addition to our fleet is Wavelength 3, a magnificent 53 foot (16m) Westcoaster, custom built in WA for the tourism charter industry. “Wave 3” caters for groups between 13 and 30 passengers and with plenty of space both on the lower deck, bow and in the elevated flybridge section you will be sure to find the right environment to relax and enjoy the surrounds. Wave 3 has marine clears throughout to ensure you stay safe and dry and is an incredibly stable fibreglass monohull. This vessel is also equipped with a wet Marlin Board to allow easy access in and out of the water and a 3.5m RIB tender as a safety and transfer vessel. Wavelength 3 has two easily accessible toilets, a galley area and very comfortable seating.

duraTioNWe depart Denham at 8am and return at 3:30pm, if we are having too much fun the return time sometimes stretches to 4pm.

Shark Bay Dive and Marine Safaris is the first and only PADI Dive Centre in Shark Bay. We specialise in scuba diving, snorkelling and scenic wildlife tours of Steep Point and Dirk Hartog Island. We focus on small groups and personal service taking guests to some of the most remote and pristine areas in Australia.

Tour deTaiLsYour day will start at 7:45am at Denham Jetty, where you’ll board our comfortable purpose-built dive vessel, Woomerangee, an 11m power catamaran for groups of 6-12, or Wavelength 3, our 16m Westcoaster for groups of 12-22. It will take us around 1.5 hours to reach our destination. To keep you interested on route, our experienced skipper and dive guides will offer you a marine life or maritime history briefing on the local area. The tour includes two dives as well as a delicious lunch at one of our favourite snorkelling spots. Our dives are for maximum dive time of 50 minutes or 50 bar and the dive sites have a maximum depth of 18-20m, so are suitable for Open Water divers. The water temperature at Steep Point varies between 20-26°C and you can see sharks, rays, turtles, beautiful hard and soft corals, caves and more. We’ll have you back in Denham by 4pm.

Why choose us?As the only PADI dive centre in Shark Bay we pride ourselves on our level of service. We cater for small groups of divers going to some of the most untouched reefs in Australia.

All tours are subject to weather conditions and minimum numbers of six. Diving and snorkelling spots will be chosen by the crew subject to weather conditions.

dive sTeeP PoiNTThe jewel in the crown of Shark Bay diving. Experience the “Wild West” on one of our full day tours to the Steep Point region of Shark Bay. World renowned as a fishing location this World Heritage listed marine park is one of the undiscovered and untouched jewels of the diving world. Our full day tours visit areas populated by species including Queensland grouper, turtles, crayfish, cuttlefish, stingrays, mackerel, trevally and of course SHARKS! And when we say SHARKS we mean Grey nurse, Tawny nurse, Sandbar whalers, Dusky whalers, Wobbegongs, Tiger Sharks and even Whalesharks. All these species can be seen while diving here! Humpback whales, dolphins and dugongs are also residents of this area depending on the time of year. Ancient tectonic activity has created huge underwater caverns encrusted in stunning soft corals. Worth travelling to the edge of Australia for!

dive dirk harToG isLaNdIn the event we are unable to dive at Steep Point due to weather conditions we also offer the chance to dive at one of the most historic sites in Western Australia, Dirk Hartog Island. On 25 October 1616 Captain Dirk Hartog landed at what is now known as Cape Inscription, this was the earliest recorded landing of European explorers in WA.

Dirk Hartog Island is now a national park and has several marine sanctuary zones in surrounding waters. With little human interaction, this place is one of Shark Bay’s best-known secrets, and notoriously one of the hardest to reach! The shallow turquoise waters surrounding the island are full of pristine coral gardens brimming with marine life both big and small. We have dive sites for all levels of experience that are accessible in almost all weather conditions around the Sandy Point Sanctuary Zone and Louisa Bay area of Dirk Hartog Island.
