who has the Abracadabra Card. He or she reads the card aloud and asks whoseesthenextwordinthesequence, suchas“Abracadabra!Whoseespig?” The player with the card that reads “I see pig.” must respond and then read the card asking who sees the next word.

Play starts with the Abracadabra Card and ends with the Shazam! Card.

The game continues at a fast pace as players read each card aloud and check to see if they have the next word in the sequence. The Desktop Prop and Park™, or a piece of construction paper folded into a tent, makes it easier for players to hold the cards upright and quickly check to see if one of their words is named. The game is over when all the CVC words have been found and the final Shazam! Card is read.

Model the game, using the instructions opposite, until students are familiar with the rules and procedures, and then allow students to play the games independently or at a literacy center. Keep the Instructions nearby during play. Assign an aide or student volunteer to set up and oversee the game.
