Goals

Enforcement Standards and Education Academy State Licensing Review

Reduce Cost

• The NCSO Academy produced three internal State Licensing courses for new Correctional Employees utilizing internal instructors and classroom space. Tuition cost for outside support was zero.

• NCSO Academy produced twelve In-service courses for Sworn Officers. Tuition cost for outside support was zero. It also produced one Regional In-service course in conjunction with the FOP where 1120 classroom hours and 23 agencies were provided training. Zero cost.

Reduce Cost

• The Academy matrixed Correctional Personnel In-service requirements, shift staffing requirements, and licensed instructors to provide the required Cultural Diversity Course work to 240 employees.

• Utilizing the matrix and a “Train the Trainers Concept” the academy saved 800 overtime man hours for a savings of $16,800.

Improve Knowledge, Skills and

Abilities of Workforce • 100 % of NCSO Sworn Officers met the State

“TCLEOSE” mandated 40 hour In-Service Requirement during the TY 09-11 cycle.

• Of 267 Correction Officers 240 have met the State “TCLEOSE” mandated In-Service Requirement during the TY 09-13 cycle. (4Yr) Twenty Seven remain to be trained. All Correctional employees will complete their requirements approximately one year ahead of the 2013 deadline.

Improve Knowledge, Skills and

Abilities of Workforce • The NCSO Academy coordinated Range Operations

for employees to qualify with their assigned weapons during this training year. Officers are now more proficient. All weapons were test fired for functionality.

• No injuries occurred as a result of strict policy and safety parameters were in place.

• Drivers Remedial Training was mandated for 11 personnel this year. 100% requirement next year.

Pass TCLEOSE Academy State Licensing Review

• The NCSO Academy passed the TCLEOSE Training Provider Evaluation. NCSO received the highest evaluation possible.

• NCSO was the only Law Enforcement Academy in the region to attain this score!

Conclusion

• The NCSO has provided their employees the lowest cost, fully trained workplace in the region. Our Academy has become a premiere training organization with a reputation of setting the standard for other agencies to attain. This was noted when twenty three agencies chose to train with NCSO personnel during this year.
