Update on ADA Improvement Project: At present, the final design of the

ADA Restroom has been completed and plans have been submitted to the

County for approval. Demolition of the existing bathroom will begin the week

of October 5th.

Residents may have noticed field operators working on fire hydrants near their homes. This is part of an on-going routine Fire Hydrant Maintenance Program to ensure their operation when needed.

Part of the Maintenance Program requires a flushing of the fire hydrants and water mains. While this may appear to conflict with conservation practices, it is an essential part of the maintenance procedure, as well as an inherent part of maintaining the highest quality of water possible to our customers.

Doing our part to ensure you have the best quality of water for use and in case of a fire.

The Centerville Community Services District has been installing new Smart meters

since 2013. This technology allows the District to help the customer determine when a

leak may have occurred or show the customer what time of day the bulk of their usage

is recorded. As of September 2017, the District has installed a total of 512 smart me-

ters. The District plans to have a smart meter at every service by 2020.

Scheduled Board Meetings:

The next scheduled Board of Director’s Meeting will be held Wednesday, October 18th at 7:00 pm, at the District Office.

The public is always welcome.

As we move into winter, here are a couple suggestions to prepare your home to not only conserve water but also ensure you have a safe and joyous Holiday Season. A big part of using less water in winter is about anticipating the cold weather’s effects on your home and on your pipes. With just a little prepara-tion, you can stop the main culprits when it comes to winter water use.

October 28th From 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

This year Grant School’s Harvest Festival will in-

clude a Haunted House, Balloon Tying, Face

painting, Jail & Bail, Cake Walk, Bounce Houses,

Fire Truck, Silent Auction, Fun Prizes, Kettle Corn,

a Delicious BBQ and so much more!!

Wheel of Fortune, Guessing Jars and the al-

mighty Dunk Tank!

Don’t forget to bring your Halloween bag!!!

1. Winterize your pipes.

Preventing burst pipes and leaks are your best bets when it comes to conserving water in winter. It’s a good idea to wrap all out-door pipes, like the ones running to your backyard spigot. This way, when temperatures drop below freezing, they stay warmer than the air and are less likely to develop a leak or burst.

2. Make sure you know where the shut-off valve for your house is.

Despite our best intentions, sometimes a pipe will still burst in the winter. The faster you can cut off that water, the less goes to waste. Some homes have a shut-off valve at the street, which is ideal. If you can’t access your street valve, you’ll need to find the one for your house. This is most likely in or near the garage Perfect if you have a gusher and need to stop the water while you wait for a plumber to arrive. You can save hundreds of gallons this way!

Home Winterizing Tips…

Clear your gutters of leaves and debris. Have your chimney inspected and cleaned. Have your furnace inspected. Clear leaves and brush from underneath trees and

shrubbery.

Car Winterizing Tips…

Install new windshield wipers. Check to see that your tires are in good condition

and that the air pressure is correct. Clean the lenses of your headlights.
