SHIELDED CABINETS V5– 20.10.2014
SHIELDED CABINETS
The great evolution of the wireless technologies over the
last few years creates a more and more perturbed
electromagnetic environment, over a wide frequency range.
During R&D or final testing of electronics or radio products,
this polluted environment can be the source of various
unwanted interferences or emissions.
These shielded cabinets enable to isolate the equipment to
be tested, with a shielding effectiveness of up to 120dB.
Electromagnetic absorbers (ferrites or pyramids) can be
added for radio testing, for example.
Adapted to the technical specifications of our customers,
SIEPEL shielded cabinets are equipped with various options
and feedthroughs.
1/2
Suitable for small RF / microwave devices and/or antennas
Custom design and dimensions available
Knife edge shielded door for high shielding effectiveness performances (120 dB @ 1 GHz) up to 40 GHz
Upgradeable and flexible
Ruggedized for lab life
Easily movable and space saving
Cabinet can be fitted with various available feedthrough: RF connectors, honeycomb air vents, fibre optics
waveguides (pipe penetrations), data signals filters, power filters (AC, DC) with internal outlets, control line
filters, data lines filters (up to 2 Mbits/s), USB / Ethernet / LAN / RS232 fibre optics converters, see-through
shielded window…
Electromagnetic absorbers: In order to create a quiet and stable electromagnetic environment and to ensure a
high repeatability of measurements, cabinets can be internally lined with electromagnetic absorbers:
- Ferrite absorbers - frequency range 30 MHz – 1 GHz (see Ferrite absorbers technical data sheet)
- Foam pyramidal absorbers - frequency range 800 MHz – 40 GHz (see Broadband pyramidal absorbers
technical data sheet)

SHIELDED CABINETS V5– 20.10.2014
FONCTIONAL TESTS
Shielding effectiveness: 120 dB at 1GHz without window >70 dB at 1GHz with window
Usual external dimensions: L x W x H = 375 x 325 x 250 mm
Equipment’s: o Shielding only o System of opening and closure (lock) of door by handle of lifting o Shielded window
Advantages: o Visualization of EUT from the outside through an shielded window o Honeycomb installed on the lid for the passage of a not conductive tool
allowing the manipulation of the switching’s during the test through the honeycomb stitch
SHIELDED CABINETS
RF SHIELDED CABINETS
SHIELDED ANECHOIC CABINETS
CUSTOMIZED SHIELDED CABINETS
Shielding effectiveness: 120 dB at 1GHz
Frequency range: 10 kHz to 40 GHz
Usual external dimensions: L x W x H = 900 x 600 x 600 mm
Equipment’s: o Lined with ferrite absorbers (frequency range: 30 MHz – 1 GHz)
or with foam absorbers APM (frequency range : 800 MHz – 40 GHz) - see Ferrite absorber or Broadband pyramidal absorber technical data sheets)
o Shielded «knife edge» door
Advantages: o System of high-quality closure allowing a very important
frequency of use o Possibility of supports inside to install EUT in relations with
antennas
Shielding effectiveness: >70 dB at 1GHz
Usual external dimensions : L x W x H = 760 x 800 x 600 mm
Equipment’s: - Opening by side door - Shielded gloves mechanically fixed to the shielding - Shielded window – huge dimensions 200 x 450 mm
Advantages: - Size of cabinets allowing to welcome various products - Visualization of the EUT from outside - Use of products in a mastered environment (closed
cabinet)
SIEPEL can propose, for each type of shielded cabinets,
others dimensions according to customer needs.
