In the future, we wish to expand our user testing with volunteer guides and by making the system available along bus routes in the Hikone area. We also plan to add a user response form on the map in order to receive feedback on how to improve the guide itself.Finally, although we are still in the early stages of development, we foresee the possibility of expanding the system to other cities in Japan at a low cost and with little additional risk.

Project Contents and ResultsOur aim is to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of smaller Japanese cities by revitalizing these cities through tourism. Compared to big cities where many people visit, smaller cities do not promote their own cultural or historical heritage. If no one promotes these areas, old historical buildings in these cities will be destroyed. Therefore, we developed a new type of mobile technology and we are going to suggest one possible way to promote tourism using mobile phones in smaller cities like Hikone where our university is located.
