Oh Shikshapatri! I meditate uponYou who has been incarnatedonto the earth to purify itsinhabitants and wash away thefilth from those who wallow in themuddy pools of sansar (worldlypleasures) and have becomesoiled, and thus remove theirinternal darkness (ignorance). ||2||

The Shikshapatri is the greatestof all the divine nectars. It hasbeen extracted from the vastocean of milk (Kshirsagar) thatexists in the form of all thescriptures. Salvation is acquiredby those who drink this nectar. ||6||

Principal Commandments

My followers must never kill anybeing. Minute creatures such aslice, bugs, insects, etc. should notbe harmed intentionally. || 11 ||

ÎïÃæyææçŒæyæëÄææxææ‰æü}æŒÄæ…æÎïp ôãSæ‹æ}æì J‹æ ÜUyæüÃÄæ}æôãSæñÃæ Šæ}æü: ŒæíæïQ æïùçSyæ Äæ‹}æãæ‹æì JJ

Animals such as goats, deer,rabbits, fish etc. should neverbe killed, even for the purposeof rel igious sacrif ice orceremony. Ahimsa (the ideologyof non-violence) is the essenceof al l scr iptures and thusits violation is unethical inevery respect. || 12 ||

The killing of another personis forbidden, even for theattainment of wealth, womenor sovereignty. || 13 ||

Committing suicide, by theconsumption of poisons, by self-strangulation, or by any othermethod is prohibited, even if it iscarried out at a holy pilgrimagesite. Suicide is still not excusable,even in a fit of anger, or in

repentance of a sinful deed. || 14 ||

Eating meat is strictly prohibitedunder any circumstances. Anoffering to a deity, or the remnants

of a ceremonial sacrifice shouldnever be consumed if itcomprises of meat oralcoholic ingredients. || 15 ||

The mutilation of your own oranother’s body must neveroccur, even if it is intendedas atonement to your ownunworthy actions, or in revengeof another person’s shamefuldeeds. This kind of disfigurementis still not allowed if it occurswhilst in a state of uncontrolled

Stealing even the smallest ofitems, such as fuel (wood) orflowers is not allowed even if itis intended for some religion-related purpose. || 17 ||

All My disciples , male andfemale, must never commitadultery. Vices such as gamblingand the consumption of

My disciples must nevertake food or water from aperson of lower class status(caste) than themselves, evenif it is the prasad (consecratedoffering) of the Lord. However,in Jagannathpuri, acceptingprasad from persons of anyclass is allowed. || 19 ||

The fulfilment of one’s own selfishaims or aspirations are no excusefor making false accusations ordefaming another’s character.The use of such offensivelanguage is prohibited. || 20 ||

My disciples must neverslander, or even listen to theblaspheming of the following;devta (deities), tirth (pilgrimagesites or sacred places), brahmin(people of God), pativrata(chaste women), sadhu (saints)or Vedas (holy scriptures). || 21 ||

When passing a mandir (temple)of Shiv, or any other deity, Mydisciples should bow downreverently, and in this way

My disciples must never makea statement that could causeharm to them, or cause thehumiliation of another, evenif it i s the precise truth.They must sever associationswith people who show noappreciation of their goodactions. Bribes must never beaccepted. || 26 ||
