Praise the Lord! We are a privileged andrisen people! This last couple of

months have been of personal inventoryand devotion.

Why do we do what we do? Becausewe have been granted release from ourbondage and been given life and life abun-dant. Such grace compels us forward in thedarkest of moments. One moment like thisis when our daughter decides to be repul-sive on purpose to show us that we won twant to get close to her heart. “Back up orelse!” We go forward in love and tell her,“You have to clean up your act, and by theway, we love you unconditionally!”

It is the Jesus love Keith Green, musi-cian, talked about. Being absurdly in lovewith our children because He is absurdlyin love with us. There is a chastening thatgoes on for our children. Out heart prayerfor them is that they are not lost to thisworld but saved for HIS name sake. Whathave they come from; what monsters hauntthem; and do they know JESUS can savethem?

Our other daughter struggles – seeinglove as something that has to be masteredover. When we reach out to her she finds away to physically hurt us. She has punched, kicked, and literally spit on us after show-ering her with love (dancing in the kitchen, hugging her, or kissing her on herforehead). What reward is this? The samereward our perfect King suffered. He cameto His own and they knew Him not.

what they have seen before living here. Tothem Christianity isn t anything more thana fairy tale that if you get the right answeryou can hide your ugly and no one will everreally know. I want nothing less than formy children to be saved from this lie. Canour love mend the gap? Do we show Jesusin His wisdom, power, and love? We areprivileged to walk in the hope our childrenwill be loved back to health.

Our family would like to take this timeto thank our supporters. We were sent byGod to this ministry and know by whatmeans the ministry stands – faithful ser-vants who believe with all of their heart thehope that lies ahead. Thank you, sweetbrothers and sisters, for all you are and allyou do! ■

CLARENCE FARM REPORT

Brandon Renting Acreage from the Ranch

It has been a while since we have had awinter with snow on the ground all the

way through March. We saw a lot ofsnowmen, snow forts, kids playing in thesnow, and adults getting vehicles stuck.

With that being said, spring emotionsand anticipations are running high! Pa-tiently we must wait for the ground to dryand meanwhile we are in the muddiest sea-son ever! Our vehicles are bottoming outon our drives and chores are very challeng-ing as we continue to wait for the sun todry our land.

I like watching the kids for they are ex-cited at the first sight of snow, then theygrow weary after it stays and stays, then itmelts as it warms up and they get excitedready to go out and run and play, but thenthey have to stay on the concrete and offthe grass so they don t track the yards up.

As adults we watch these kids strugglewith the smallest of things, wishing theywould catch on to the big things like bound-aries, responsibility, patience, and to thinkthrough things. It is snowing – I need a coat, gloves that are water proof, and rubberboots. I should stay off the grass becausethe ground is muddy. But do they get it?As a parent I ll let you answer that!

I like to think of God looking down atus and I wonder what He is thinking. Arewe getting the important things or are wetoo busy struggling with the smallest thing?I have never been run off for trespassingwhen I have helped clean someone else sdrive, vehicle, or helped get them out whenthey were stuck. The kids and I helped pusha car out that was stuck by using pure man

power that comes from a loaded 15 pas-senger van! They were very proud of them-selves and the man in the car was very ap-preciative. We are measured by how we actand react more than what we say, andhomeparents always have dozens of extra

eyes and ears watching. The biggest thing that has happened

in our lives this quarter was the celebra-tion of 30 years of marriage. You just can-not accomplish that on your own!! It takesat least two, but for us it took three.

There is no way we could have made30 years without giving it all to Christ. Hehas blessed us more than we ever deserve. Our greatest blessing is not in raising fourkids but having all four wanting to serveHim with their life. Now we have threegrandkids (and are expecting two more)being raised in solid Christian homes.Nathan and Amy are due for their third inJuly, and Matt and Steph are hoping toadopt before the year is over.

You cannot out-give God for He istruly awesome. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support. Our doors are alwaysopen. ■

Blessed be the Lord,The Tuleys

Brandon will use acreage asFFA project and farming!

Snow . . . rain . . . mud . . . ruts . . . morework. We will have a lot of driveway

patching and field entrance to seed. Wehave combined all the cows from both sitesto Clarence, and at this time will be calv-ing and breeding them down here and fin-ishing them out and marketing at Kahoka. So far we have ten calves and have man-aged to get them all tagged without toomany wild tales. :-) At this time, we haveonly lost one calf that was premature. Wewill do most of our hay baling this year atthe Kahoka site where we have about 50acres alfalfa and 20 acres grass.

Wheat is looking good if it does notdrown out. Since the snow protected it fromfreezing, we have a good stand and will betop dressing it as soon as it dries. If youremember, we worked up most of our al-falfa at Clarence and we are going to re-plant in soybeans. Weather did not allowus to plant it in wheat so we are going to

cash rent 15 acres out to Brandon (from theMoore s house). It will be his FFA projectand we are going to shoot for the highestyield award! We have already met with ourseed and fertilizer dealer and they are asexcited as I am. We have been teaching hima lot about herbicides, fungicide, Radiate, magnesium, fertilizer, seeding rate, insur-ance, crop reporting and we have only justbegun. Next we will start on a spread sheet, finances, and banking. We already have anold Massey combine lined up for his use toharvest his own crop even if we have tohaul it in a pickup!

This is what our farm is all about. Lastnight the Beauregard family assisted theirfirst goat – from last year s 4-H project –giving birth to a little buck. They have onemore to go. Now they will get to experi-ence milking their LaMancha. The Mooresand I have already signed up to be their firstcustomer. We also have a couple of girlsgetting show pigs for the county fair. Sostay tuned! It is sure to be an interestingyear! ■

MOORE MUSINGS

Brandon in Top Five in Bow Shooting LeagueSpring is here and cabin fe-

ver is almost over. Home-work time is coming to an endand summer ball will begin be-fore we know it. It has been agood winter with quite a fewthings going on.

Mercy is playing fifth gradebasketball this year. It is herfirst time to play an organizedsport and she is doing reallywell. I wasn t able to make itto one of the games, and afterthe game she came home andtold me she made three freethrows and one regular basket.Sadly two of the free throwsdidn t count because she hadjumped over the line. She wasso proud, it was awesome.

Michael is doing really well atTaekwondo. He is already a yellow belt andis moving up quickly. When Michael firstwanted to do this we were a little hesitant, but it has given him a great chance to re-ally work on respect, concentration, anddealing appropriately with his anger andfrustration.

Belinda is in graphic arts in Vo-Tech and

is doing excellent work. She has broughthome a couple shirts she has helped designor print. It has been neat to watch her learnthat process and be excited about the learn-ing.

Brandon just recently got his driverspermit and is anxious to drive anytime hegets a chance. He used his birthday andChristmas money to buy a new bow and is

in the top five in the indoorleague he is shooting in. Bran-don does great with responsi-bility and we are praying forhim to take some big steps for-ward in his faith over the nextfew months.

Christy has made some hugesteps in the past couple weeks. We are excited about watchingwhat will come out of thechanges she has decided tomake. It will be fun to watchher grow as she begins herfreshman year next year.

Sierra still continues tostruggle with choices. She is anincredible young lady and wecan t wait to see how the Spiritof God will work in her life

when she opens up and listens to Him.Titus is wild as ever. He loves going to

preschool two days a week, although hedoesn t enjoy having to wake up early onschool mornings. This last week his letterof the week was “T” and he was so excitedbecause Titus starts with “T”.

This is a real quick overview of all thekids in our house, but there is so muchmore. I could write books with all the funnystories and amazing things they say andlearn – and with all the hurt they have in-side. Please keep praying for our kids andour ministry. ■

Dear friends . . . She walked out the doorjust like any typical school day, only

a little early so she could take a test atschool. Sure, she was a tad nervous becausetoday is the end of the third quarter at schooland Chelsey is very conscientious aboutgetting good grades. Today was different, though, and we knew and so did she. Shewouldn t be coming home today and so thehugs goodbye took a little longer, yet withless sadness on all our parts. She is goingback to a good family that loves the Lord.So we are mostly happy for her and some-what sad for us, because we will miss her.A hug. A prayer. A tear. A smile. Houston Enters Heaven; Many Admirers AttendHis Celebration of Life Memorial Service

We say goodbye to our beloved friend and formerShiloh housedad, Houston Rains

Houston died peacefully March 28, 2010 at his home following a long battlewith leukemia and other complications. He and his wife, Cindy, devoted theirlives to the ministry of caring for children for twenty years; fifteen of whichwere served at Shiloh. They served as homeparents four years prior to comingto Shiloh. He was a faithful servant to the end, and the celebration of his life wasone of the finest you will ever experience! The fact that so MANY Shiloh alumnichildren AND homeparents attended is a wonderful tribute to Houston and Cindyand family!!Remembering Houston . . . It is said, “People would rather see a sermon than hear one.”Houston Rains embodies that so well. As a husband, Father, neighbor, friend and brother in Christ, he epitomizesthe passage Paul penned to the believers in the church at Rome found in Romans 12:9-18. Houston simply tried

to follow Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He would want us to simply do the same. Only because ofChrist am I certain I will be with my friend and neighbor again in heaven; this time forever. That day iscoming and Houston would want you there, too!

almost every day since, to now behold abeautifully talented, young Christianwoman. Soon it will be a hug. A prayer. Atear. A smile. Another tear and a deepbreath.

Michael will also be graduating this yearfrom University of Central Missouri withhis Bachelor s degree, 18 years after hefirst bounced into our lives. We have beenincreasingly impressed with his dedicationto his studies these past few semesters. Hehas worked fulltime at Enersys battery fac-tory while maintaining a full class load andsolid grades. His phone calls to home arealways a delight and his visits home to“check on the old folks” are always appre-ciated. Yes, even for this strong young manwe will find the time for a hug. A prayer. Atear. A smile. Another tear and a deepbreath.

Yes, that is our life. Solomon saw it inhis day and reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3:“There is a time for everything, and a sea-son for every activity under heaven . . .”We have been busy doing many other thingsbut we will open and close with those. ■

The Geissinger fam-ily has had much

sickness this winter. Ourhome was hit with theflu, pneumonia andcolds. Even though wehave had sickness, wehave still been active andhaving fun.

Before winter ar-rived we started off witheach of the youngstershaving several pairs ofgloves. I think we havea glove monster, like thesock monster, in ourhouse! When the snowmelts, it will be interest-ing to see if that s wherethe glove monster washiding. In spite of aglove shortage and wear-ing mismatched gloves, our crew had fun building snow forts, snowmen and sledding. The kids namedone of their snowman creations, “Scrap”.Mr. B was stuck in the snow, which causedhis van to have a run-in with Scrap . . . poorScrap!

Our family had to come up with creativegames for everyone to play indoors. Dur-ing one of the snowstorms, our entire fam-ily was sick so we decided to roll up sev-eral pairs of socks and have an indoor snow-ball fight. Talk about “Wild”! We made

a picnic on the floor andplayed games. The kidsseem to enjoy that aswell.

We are looking for-ward to the snow melt-ing, and for a new sea-son to arrive – Spring! Our little chickadeesneed to get moving ontheir 4-H projects, al-though some have beenworking consistently onthem. A few of the kidsare getting excited towork with the horsesagain. Hopefully, wewill be blessed withhorse tack, so the kidscan learn more hands on.

We have been plan-ning our first garden. Itwill be interesting to see

how our family garden turns out and tolearn more about veggies, herbs, and can-ning.

Speaking of seeing, we took the gang tothe ophthalmologist. Three of the childrenneeded glasses. It s amazing how they cankeep their glasses on and can see throughall the spots and finger prints.

Since spots were mentioned, let s touchon spiritual spots. Some of them have hadsome breakthroughs and have decided tomake better choices, while others have de-cided to begin to make wrong choices, con-sistently. With our experience what we dorealize is that we all go through differentseasons, at different times. One week wecan be on the mountain top, and the nextweek we can stumble into a valley. Hope-fully, through all the day to day, they willcatch a glimpse of Jesus.

We are so thankful for all that the Lordhas blessed us with and are eager to seewhat the rest of the year brings. Thank youfor your support and prayers.

As I am closing, I am reminded of ascripture: Ecclesiastes 3:1, “There is a timefor everything, and a season for every ac-tivity under heaven.” ■

We have had many forts built, madeplaydough creations and have played sev-eral board games. Our gang had several col-oring book evenings, too. Recently, we had

new skills.

I can t remember ayear when spring-

time had a more wel-come arrival! Thiswinter has been a harshone - complete withlots of snow, ice, andbitter cold tempera-tures. I think we aver-aged one day out fromschool each week sinceChristmas due to theweather! We had somuch even the kids gottired of all the snow!

Our house dynamics have changed againand this time gotten younger. Our nephew sson, Caleb, who is five years old, hasmoved into our home and we are now re-membering what it s like to have a youngone around all the time. It hit me the firsttime I found soldiers and spiderman hang-ing from the bathtub faucet! He s certainlylivened things up a bit, but we ve also seensome of our older kids step up and help out

having twice as much smelly laundry comein the door!)

Our kids have also undertaken 4-Hprojects in preparation for the county fairin July. We ve never been involved in 4-Hso it s not only new to our kids but to us aswell. Tiffany, Todd, and Caleb have begunto work with a pregnant rabbit who hasmade our garage her home . . . Kailee isgoing to be working with cake decorating

We are also excited tohave the Keelins join oursite as relief parents. Theirchildren also fit in well andthe boys are thrilled tohave even more boysaround. (We like having alittle girl who we can belike a grandma andgrandpa to!)

Before next newsletter,we will experience workgroups, church camp,VBS, CIY, NYR, (Wow!That s a lot of abbrevia-tions right there!!!) andmore. At least this sum-mer we don t have a

graduation, wedding, or birth of a child toplan on for extra excitement! Think we llhave enough to keep us busy! Looking for-ward to what God has in store through allthis! ■

this year to be held at theClarence site.

We hope you will mark yourcalendars and plan to visit

starting at noon with a meal, followed by a program by our

Shiloh families.

OPENHOUSEeven without being asked.

This week s temperature warmed upand it was great watching the kids skating, skateboarding, jumping on the trampoline, playing baseball and basketball (good thingwe have a big yard!) The kids are signedup for summer league t-ball/softball/base-ball – looks so far like six different teamsthis year! Aaron is trying his hand again attrack this spring and has been working outa lot in the weight room in preparation forthe shot put. I think his arms are now big-ger than my head! It s funny to watch Toddand Stephen flex their muscles seeing iftheirs are as big as their older brother s!Stephen s looking forward to camping tripsthis summer with Aaron and their Boyscouttroop. (Don t think I m looking forward to

and goats (hopefully she doesn t try todecorate the goats with icing) . . . Viola willbe doing photography and drama . . . Toddand Stephen are excited about doing fish-ing and camping . . . Dorcas will be doingfoods and drama. I m sure we will be learn-ing as much as they do along the way.

Two exciting things have happenedsince our last newsletter. We have a greatand mighty God who can teach us that goodcan come from tragedy. After hearing heart-breaking stories by our minister who hap-pened to be in Haiti during its terrible earth-quake, we saw Viola s heart for others bro-ken and Dad P baptized her with her Shilohfamily watching and cheering. She now hasa special heart for Caleb and watching herteach him to skate or jump on the trampo-

SHILOH CHRISTIAN SCHOOL NEWS

Shiloh School Students Volunteer at FoodPantry, Take Field Trip to State CapitolI think this is the first time I can remem-

ber we do not have a student graduatingfrom our school this spring. We do have acouple of juniors so next year will be a dif-ferent story.

This year has seemed to go by quickly, especially when we were unable to haveschool several days due to the extremeweather conditions. Even though our schoolis close to our homes, our supervisors(teachers) do have to drive in, and our roadsstayed dangerous a lot this winter. The kidshave continued to do a great job at gettingback on task and keeping up with sched-uled PACEs.

We were able to have several electiveclasses and field trips including greenhouse, cooking classes, US government class, home economics, and trips to the Missouri

Christian Convention in St. Louis and a tourof the capitol in Jefferson City. We are alsoexcited to be able to offer volunteer workat our local food pantry again for qualify-ing students. Being able to utilize the tal-ents and abilities of our staff on site makesa big difference for our students.

We plan to close our school year in Maywith an awards banquet/appreciation ban-quet to recognize the achievements of ourstudents in the past year, as well as honorthose who help make our school possible.Truly, this is a team effort and we feelblessed to be able to serve together onGod s team. ■

After a long, hard, cold winter, am I ready for the warmth and new

beginnings that the spring and summerseasons bring us! The anticipation ofbeing able to work in the yard, see thenew growth of plants and trees, and thestart of baseball season (Go Cardi-nals!). It is so great to start anew andlook forward to washing away the dullgray of winter.

Just like spring, we are all aboutnew beginnings here at Shiloh. That

is why Shiloh is in existence. We are that “safe place” for ouryoung people that are in need of a fresh start. Our Shiloh chil-dren bring so many long, hard, cold winters with them in theirhearts that they never can seem to look forward to a spring intheir young lives.

That s where Shiloh homeparents and staff use Jesus mes-sage of new beginnings, hope, and love to show them that theycan start fresh and have a different perspective. Trying to showa young person that the “winter” of their life can end is not aneasy thing to do. As a child, when all you know is winter inyour heart, it is difficult to know what new hope and a new starton life can bring.

Christ s message of new hope and new life can be seen inLuke 24 when the women went to the tomb feeling despair anddefeat only to find new hope because of Christ s resurrection. From winter to spring, from death to life, from despair to hope,Jesus resurrection power of love can change the darkest situa-tion of our Shiloh children. That power changing love is shownthrough the care that our Shiloh children receive each day. Adevotion as a family, a teachable moment from a Shiloh dad, ora hug from a Shiloh mom, these are the actions that show a childthat they can have a new beginning in their Shiloh family.

We ask for your continued support by praying that our Shilohchildren will take advantage of a new beginning in Christ. Com-mit to pray each day for our homeparents and staff so that wecan seize each opportunity to share Christ s message of newhope with our children.

What a joy it is to trust a Savior that is the author of newbeginnings each day! What a joy it is to have faithful supporterslike you to share in our mission to provide Christian homes forour children. Thank you for helping us to “make a difference” inoffering new beginnings to our children s lives. We appreciateeach and every one of you for being part of the Shiloh Family! ■

In Christ’s Love,Mark

Mark My Words

Shiloh Alum Liz to Finish EarningParamedic Degree

It s been a great week. Early in the week I heard from Liz. Liz lived

here – maybe 15 years ago. She wasalways delightful and saw the fun sideof life. This week she sent a nice photoof herself and her husband. The twolook so happy (the photo is on Shiloh sFacebook page if you want to see it.)Liz writes, “That is my family with onemissing because he is away at college.I am going to school now to finish upmy Paramedic degree. My other half,

Brian, is a paramedic already. Just trying to catch up with him!We live in Colorado, actually just getting ready to close on thehouse tomorrow in another town, closer to his work and myschool. Give my love to Kevin and Denise.”

How beautiful are the words of former Shiloh kids! Notice:Liz has a son in college. Notice: She has the goal of getting thetraining it takes to have an occupation. Notice: The purpose ofthe occupation is to save and help other people. Notice: She shappily married. Notice: She married a man who works. Notice:The couple is buying a house together. Notice: The fond memo-ries she has of here former life here.

Then, earlier in the week I read in an area newspaper that aformer Shiloh child, who s now an adult, has accepted a posi-tion as head of a very important, respectable, well-paying posi-tion in a town not far from our base of Shelbina. Congratula-tions, Bill!

The third example is that of Esther. Sunday following a finesermon from our minister, Jim Bilbro, an area young lady whohas been attending church walked down to the front to say shewants to start living for God. Supporting the young lady as shewalked down the aisle was Kevin and Denice Blew s Esther. What a wonderful happening that one of Shiloh s children iswilling to help her friend take a closer walk with her Maker!

Loving, supportive friend of the Shiloh children – Shilohworks! ■

Yours for Christ’s kids,
