For naval battles in the Pirates RPG, ofcourse theres nothing
more appropriate thanthe PocketModel ships put out by
WizKids(www.wizkidsgames.com) forPirates of the
Spanish Main.
Still, in the Pirates RPG, players are likely tostart off with a
lowly one-mast sloop such asthe Lady Faire from the
pre-generatedPirates RPG characters on the Pinnacle
site(www.peginc.com). The Lady Faire isntactually represented in
Pirates of theSpanish Main, and sloops are hard to comeby.
Therefore, I came up with a few papermodels of sloops to use for my
own games.
A couple of the designs are inspired by toyships put out by Mega
Brands in their MegaBloks (www.megabloks.com) Pyrates line.Captain
Cutlasss Stormstalker(3620) andAdmiral Scathes Predator(3619) work
well(with a little modification) to represent sloopsfor thePirates
RPG at 25-28mm scale forswashbuckling battles once
boardingcommences. Hence, the Stormstalkerand
Predatorwere designed with those ships inmind, in case you have
those in your fleet.
To use, just print out the second page (with
the ship models on it) onto light cardstock,cut out individual
models, and fold eachone into an inverted T arrangement.
Thenameplate for the ship will end up on thebottom. Optionally, you
might want to slipa penny or small washer into the base togive it
just a little weight so it doesnt getknocked over so easily.
