From the Vice-Chancellor's Desk
I am pleased to welcome you to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur
which is magnificent seat for higher education, emerged as a leading
centre of Teaching, Learning and Research in South-West Maharashtra.
The prime agenda of the University is to impart excellent
education to our students in an encouraging environment with full
attention to their all-round development.
The Shivaji University offers B.A.B.Ed. Integrated course of four
years which is approved by NCTE, Bhopal and U.G.C.,New Delhi. The
objective of the Course is to enhance the teaching abilities of the students
and to equip them with modern teaching techniques. Any candidate who
passed H.S.C. examination may seek admission and can complete B.A. and
B.Ed. (Two degrees, integrated) within a span of four years. Mahavir
College, Kolhapur and Karmaveer Hire College, Gargoti conduct this
course. After the successful completion of the course the students are
eligible to join Post Graduate courses as M.A. or M.Ed. More information is
available in the prospectus of the above colleges.
There are 283 affiliated colleges to this University providing
higher education in different faculties and I am happy to say you that there
are 28 colleges which have been accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC,
Bangalore and 8 colleges with Potential for Excellence by the UGC.
Dear Students, I would like to quote John Dewey, “Education is
not preparation for life, education is life itself”, and this University
prepares your life. You are aware that education has become quite dynamic
and competitive today. Hence, you should be ready and well-equipped
with the required abilities, competencies and skills. The society is
expecting well trained human resource and responsible citizens and we
are committed to meet such expectations. On the World Youth Skills Day, th15 July, 2015 University initiated a programme to train 1,25,000 Youth of
affiliated colleges, organized the mega events as Skill Fair to meet the
Vice-Chancellor
Prof. (Dr.) Devanand Shinde
demands of industry & market & Mega Job Expo for better placements of
our students.
The Shivaji University & CII jointly prepared a road-map to utilize
the technology & facilities developed in University for different industries
& to start some need-based courses, develop technology & researches as
per their demand.
Besides academics, the University offers extracurricular facilities
in terms of Sports, NSS and NCC. The University has an active Students
Welfare Department. I am sure that you will fully use most of the facilities
during your stay on University campus.
Almost all Departments organizes National and International
conferences, Seminars, Symposia in order to give opportunity to our
students to be aware of recent trends in respective areas and to interact
with eminent Scholars who have been invited to deliver scholarly talk. In
such programmes you will get exposure by taking active participation.
The University organizes 37 Lecture series throughout the year
as a part of Social awakening.
The University has its unique merit scholarship, in addition to
various scholarship offered by Central and State Government. The
University merit scholarships seek to provide financial assistant to

COURSE OBJECTIVES AND ADMISSION RULES
(I) Course Objectives: -
The prospective teacher prepared through this extensive, rigorous integrated course is expected
to :
1. Possess competence to teach subjects of his specialization on the basis of accepted principles

(II) Eligibility for admission to B.A.B.Ed. (Integrated) year-wise is as under :
O. B. A. B. Ed. - 1
i) A candidate seeking admission to the First Year of B.A. B.Ed. (Integrated) course must
have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (H. S. C.) examination from the faculty of
Arts, Commerce, Science & (vocational stream) of any Higher Secondary Board in
Maharashtra or any other examination recognized as equivalent there to by the Shivaji
University.
ii) Such other conditions/ regulations as laid down by the NCTE from time to time.
iii) A candidate shall be eligible to appear for the First Year B.A.B.Ed. examination on the
following conditions that he/she must have-
a. Kept two terms in theory & practicals of education in a college.
b. Completed the practical work extended over two terms to the satisfaction of the
Head of the Institution in which the candidate is studying.

The Entrance Test will be conducted on 01/09/2017 The Entrance Test will be held at the

(2) Merit List for admission rounds :
1. The merit list to the students shall be prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained
by the candidate in the Entrance Examination
2. In case there are two or more candidates with the equal marks in Merit list, the total
marks obtained by these students in the H. S. C. standard examination (qualifying
examination) shall be considered.
3. Even after this, if the students continued to obtain equal position/ merit then the
marks obtained by the students in the subjects excluding English and other language
shall be considered.
4. Even after this, if the students continued to obtain the same merits/ marks, the
marks scored in the English language shall be considered.
(3) Reservation :
Intake Capacity of B.A.B.Ed. Course per college and Reservation quota for admission
will be (as per the rules of the State Government) for 2017-2018.
· 2% seats are available for SBC category if seats from reserve category remain vacant at
the time de-reservation.
· Provision of one seat over and above the sanctioned intake capacity for each course in
each college is made for Jammu and Kashmir migrated candidate.
· 30% seats are reserved for female candidates at Graduate level as per G.R.No. GEC-2000/
(123/2007)/T.E.1 dated 17.4.2000.
· 3% seats are reserved for persons with disabilities as per Government letter No. Mis/
1003(510/2003)/Est-1 dated 27-10-2003. This is in the quota.
· As per the G. R. criteria laid down for submitting �Non Creamy Layer� Certificate will be
applicable to candidates belongings to nomadic tribes (Dhangar and Similar tribes/ nomadic
tribes/ Vanjari and similar tribes) and OBC. Decisions made by the Government in this
regard will remain applicable.
· Some of the castes require non-creamy layer certificate or validity certificate as per the
relevant G.R. and that should be enclosed with the application form. In absence of such a
certificate the candidate concerned will be included in the open category.

(Note : This being the internal reservation, in the beginning only these seats will be filled
on merit. Correspondingly the number of seats will be reduced from the respective categories.
· Candidates from backward class are required to enclose attested copy of the caste certificate
with the application form. It is obligatory to submit the originals at the time of actual
admission. Regarding �Caste validity Certificate� G.R. issued from time to time will be
applicable.
· The admission will be finalized by the B.A. B.Ed. admission committee 2015-2016.

Instructions for Admission Rounds :
1. If the candidate remains absent at the time of admission round, then his/ her claim on
particular admission seat (as per merit list) will be forfeited and he/ she will not be
entitled to put his/ her claim on the same.

second language (school subject) and with any four optional subjects Arts.
2. The candidate will be admitted on marks obtained in C. E. T. out of 100 marks conducted
by Shivaji University will be considered for the calculation of merit.

iii) Cancellation of admission and refund of fees shall be as under:-
Cancellation of admission and refund of fees shall be as under :
a) All Deposits such as Caution Money, Library Deposit, Laboratory Deposit etc. shall be
refundable subject to such deductions as may be necessary on account of any damage to
the property of the institution concerned such as breakages to laboratory equipment, loss
of library books etc. for which a student may responsible.
The application for refund of such deposits shall be made within six months either from the
date he / she leaves the college or of complete the course.
b) Only Tuition Fees and no other Fees shall be refundable (except Deposits).
c) The Ministry of Human Resource Development and University Grants Commission have
considered the issue and decided that the Institutions and Universities, in the public interest,
shall maintain a waiting list of students / candidates. In the event of a student / candidate
withdrawing before the starting of the course, the waitlisted candidates should be given
admission against the vacant seat. The entire fee collected from the student, after a
deduction as per UGC notification dated 6 December, 2016 will be refunded and returned by
the Institution / University to the student / candidate withdrawing from the programme.
Should a student leave after joining the course and if the seat consequently falling vacant
has been filled by another candidate by last date of admission, the Institution must return
the fee collected with proportionate deductions of monthly fee and proportionate hostel
rent where applicable.

For the purpose of Section 95(5) of the Maharasthra Universities Act, 1994 the rules of
discipline and proper conduct for the students of the University Deaprtment, affiliated colleges,
recongnised institutions, autonomous colleges/institutions shall be as follows :
i. As part of discipline, students are required to attend functions and celebrate Days of
National Importance.
ii. a) The students shall attend the classes, practicals and seminars etc. wherever prescribed,
regularly so that the requirements of minimum attendance as prescribed under the Act, the
statutes, the ordinances and rules/regulations made in that behalf are fulfilled.
b) The students shall not remain absent for more than 3 days without permisson of the
Head of the concerned institution.
iii. It shall be binding on the part of the students to see that no damage is done to the property
of the concerned institution in any manner.
iv. Any breach of the aforesaid rules or any misbehaviour on the part of the student shall be
liable to severe punishment in accordance with the provisions contained in Section 95 (3) (4)
of the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994.
v. a) The students shall behave with their classmates, teachers authorities and the non-
teaching employees of the concerned institutions in a responsible manner.
b) The students shall behave in a fair and friendly manner in all extra & co-curricular activities.
c) The students shall participate in educational tours, youth festivals and other collective
activities wherever prescribed, in a constructive manner ensuring fulfilment of the objectives
of the said activity under strict supervision and guidance of the teachers/officers/authorities
of the concerned institutions.
d) It shall be obligatory on the part of the students to make proper use of the Laboratory/
Library/Study Room and other common facilities without causing inconvenience or damage
to the other users, and the property.
vi. The resident students shall be governed by the rules and regulations in respect of hostel
accommodation/official premises as prescribed by the concerned institutions.
vii. The students involved in any attempts of common-offs, vulgarism, gundaism, man-handling,
eve-teasing, malpractices or participation in criminal acts shall be liable for punishment.
viii.The students shall be governed by the provisions of Anti-ragging Legislation of the State
Government, and/or rules made in this regard from time to time by the concerned institution.

or institution maintained by the university for a specified period not exceeding five years or
that the result of the student or students concerned in the examination or evaluation in
which he or they have appeared, be
cancelled: Provided that, the Vice-Chancellor shall give reasonable opportunity of being
heard to the student concerned, if expulsion is for a period exceeding one year.
(4) Without prejudice to the powers of the Vice-Chancellor, the principals of conducted colleges,
heads of university institutions and the heads of departments of the university shall have
authority to exercise all such powers over the student in their respective charge as may be
necessary for the maintenance of proper discipline.
(5) Provisions as regards discipline and proper conduct for students of the university and the
action to be taken against them for breach of discipline or misconduct, shall be as may be
prescribed by the Statutes, which shall apply to the students of all its conducted colleges and
university departments or institutions, affiliated colleges and recognized institutions.
(6) Statutes relating to discipline and proper conduct for students, and the action to be taken
against them for breach of discipline or misconduct, shall also be published in the prospectus
of the university, affiliated college or recognized institution and every student shall be
supplied with a copy of the same. The principals of the colleges and heads of the institutions,
maintained by the university and affiliated colleges, may, prescribe additional norms of
discipline and proper conduct, not inconsistent with the Statutes, as they think necessary
and every student shall be supplied with a copy of such norms.
(7) At the time of admission, every student shall sign a declaration to the effect that he submits
himself to the disciplinary jurisdiction of the Vice-Chancellor and the other officers and
authorities or bodies of the university and the authorities or bodies of the conducted
colleges, affiliated colleges and recognized institutions, and shall observe and abide by the
Statutes made in that behalf and in so far as they may apply, the additional norms made by
the principals of conducted colleges and heads of university institutions and affiliated
colleges.
(8) All powers relating to disciplinary action against students of an affiliated college or recognized
institution not maintained by the university, shall vest in the principal of the affiliated
college or head of the recognized institution, and the provisions of the sub-sections (6) and
(7) including the Statutes made thereunder, shall mutatis-mutandis apply to such colleges,
institutions and students therein.
