We wish to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for the support you have shown our school during the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to remote learning over the past 6 weeks. This support has ensured our students have experienced a continuity of learning and remained engaged with their education. As we return to all students on site at Shoalhaven High School, we have planned to stagger our break times to ensure we can ensure the health and safety of all staff and students by minimising numbers in the playground during recess and lunch breaks (see bell times). What this means for our students: 1. School will return to our original start and finish times - 8:30am - 2:46pm (a normal 6 period day). 2. Years 7, 8 and 12 will follow our existing timetable structure. 3. Years 9, 10 and 11 will follow a changed timetable to allow for staggered breaks (see bell times). 4. Students’ classes have not changed, just the timings of periods and the number of periods before and after breaks for years 9, 10 and 11. 5. Tuesdays have been changed due to our inability to hold assemblies. Tuesdays will now finish after period 5 at 1:55pm. During Week A (odd weeks 5, 7, and 9) students will have permission to leave school at the conclusion of period 5. Students who need to remain at school for normal buses will be able to do so under the supervision of staff in the playground. This will be indicated on the students’ timetable with a “blank”. On Week B (even weeks 6, 8, and 10) students will have a wellbeing meeting with their Year Advisor and Deputy Principal. 6. Wednesday sport has also been modified. Sport has now moved to periods 5 and 6 on Wednesday, with students’ classes concluding at 12:44pm. Students will have the option of bringing a note from home to leave school grounds at this time. Students in Years 7-10 who remain at school will participate in modified sporting activities from 1:05pm - 2:46pm. Students in Year 11 and 12 will have access to flexible learning in the library with the support of staff in continuing with their studies. 7. Students who bring a note to leave at 12:44pm on a Wednesday will need to present that to the front office. This note is only required once for the remainder of the Term and students will be required to follow these arrangements each week. I understand that there are quite a few changes to our normal routine, and if there are concerns please do not hesitate to contact the school. Great care was taken with these arrangements for students to ensure they return to a safe and supportive environment. Thank you for all your support during these trying times. Kind Regards, Damian Rees Principal

PHONES OFF AND AWAY Shoalhaven High School has updated its rules for student use of mobile phones. Students have been given several weeks of advance notice by the Principal Mr Rees and staff, so compliance is expected from students.

This information ties in with the school's 'Bring Your Own Technology' policy and its focus on negative and positive choices for mobile use. Posters have been placed around the school to remind students about 'Phones Off and Away'.
