I love the way Kyran has captured
his golden curls and highlighted the
importance of food in Cornucopia.
Remember, if you want your artwork to
be considered for the actual book, make
sure it is plain paper, 2.2cm shorter than
A4 and draw it portrait rather than
landscape.

SPaG: Paragraphs
• Today we are going to continue looking at paragraphs.
• What can you remember about paragraphs?
• When do we use them?
Today we are going to be reading a text where no paragraphs have been used. It is your job to work out where a new paragraph is needed. Remember a new paragraph is needed when:
the topic changes . A change in time.
A change in place.A new person is introduced.
Read the following text. Can you work out how many paragraphs it should be split into?
The answer is …. three.
Paragraph 1 is an introduction.
Paragraph 2 is about where they
live.
Paragraph 3 is about what they
eat.
Now it's your turn. Read the following text.
Now work out where the new
paragraphs should begin.
When there is a change of topic there should be
a new paragraph.

Illustration ideas.
JK Rowling would like you to draw some illustrations Chapters 3 and 4. Here are her suggestions.
Writing
• Today you need to use everything you have learnt to write a letter to your teacher.
• This is your opportunity to practice writing a letter before we write about the Olympics next week.
Letter writing. You need to write a letter to
your teacher telling them how you are and what you have
been up to.
Today we are going to plan for
our letter.
Planning is an important process as it makes sure all our ideas are down on paper.
Use this plan to support you.• Who is your letter to:
• Paragraph 1 (Introduction): Why are you writing this letter? What are you hoping to tell you teacher about?
• Paragraph 2 (Main Information): What have you been doing that you want to tell your teacher about? What adjectives can you use to describe what you did? How did it make you feel? Who did you do it with? What has your favourite thing been so far?
• Paragraph 3 (Final few sentences): How have you enjoyed your home learning experience so far? What are you missing or looking forward to? What would you like to ask your teacher?
• Who is the letter from:
• Do you have a P:S message to put at the end.
