Tropical Agriculture Platform in a Nutshell

Background:

Launched as a G20 initiative in Mexico in 2012 driven by commitment of 20 institutional partners.

Charter adopted at 1st

Partners’ Assembly in China in 2013.

Emphasis on voluntary cooperation among partners.

Aim of TAP:

Multi-lateral mechanism aiming to improve efficiency and effectiveness of knowledge sharing and capacity development programmes for strengthening Agricultural Innovation System (AIS) in low and lower-middle income countries. Strong focus on greater coherence, harmonized action, mutual accountability and avoiding duplication.

Main achievement:

Development of the Common Framework on Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems. Valuable lessons learned from the EU-funded CDAIS project (2015-2019) jointly implemented by Agrinatura and FAO.
