1. General
This user manual describes details of testing Siemens 7SA84, 7SA86 and 7SA87 relays with the OMICRON Protection Test Template. General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library items can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual. The template has been tested with the following relay: Manufacturer: Siemens Model: 7SA86 Firmware Version: 4.0
2. Software and Hardware Requirements
To use this template, you must have a valid test license for the OMICRON Test Universe 3.00 software or higher versions and the following test modules:
• Control Center
• Quick CMC
• Overcurrent
• Ramping
• State Sequencer
• Advanced Distance
• VI Starting Any CMC test set can be used with this Protection Test Template.

3. Hardware
There are multiple possibilities of wiring Siemens 7SA84, 7SA86 and 7SA87 relay to a CMC test set. The advised connections are shown in Figure 1. These connections are the default settings in the Hardware Configuration of the PTT. Please note that in case of 3-Pole Tripping binary inputs Trip A, Trip B and Trip C should be connected in parallel.

Not supported functions:
• Distance protection load cutout (ph-gnd) (21)
• Power-Swing Blocking (68)
• Synchrocheck, synchronizing function (25)
• Voltage protection (27), (59)
• Power protection active/reactive power
• Thermal overload (49)
• Instantaneous High-Current Tripping (50)
• Switch On To Fault SOTF protection (with Back-up overcurrent protection)
• Directional Time-Overcurrent Protection (67/67N)
• Circuit breaker failure protection (50BF)
• Automatic reclosing (79)

• Fault locator
The Relay Parameter Section of the XRIO Converter includes only protection parameters of supported functions.
5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object contains 7SA8x XRIO Converter, which includes setting parameters of the modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the Digsi5 V4.0 software. The Relay Parameter Sections should be filled manually. To set infinite long time as parameter value “+inf” should be filled in the value field.
