The MASTERGUARD Series Eis the powerful turbo in thesingle phase MASTERGUARDfamily of uninterruptiblepower supplies by Siemens. Thanks to three-phase powerinput uniform loads in thepower supply system areensured.

MASTERGUARD protects against:

• Power failures • Voltage fluctuations • Frequency fluctuations • Distorted waveforms • Voltage surges • Interference • Short-term voltage droupouts

MASTERGUARD –Series E UPS devices protect:

• Networks • Server applications • Data processing systems • Computer centers • Telecommunications systems • Automation technology processes

MASTERGUARD:Installation/Commissioning

MASTERGUARD:True on-line double conversion technologywith integrated bypass mechanism

When mains power is present, theMASTERGUARD UPS converts the mainsAC voltage to DC to charge a battery and tosupply an inverter with energy. The invertergenerates a sinewave AC voltage which ispermanently available at the output of theUPS.

If a problem occurs with the mains powersupply, the battery delivers the necessarypower to the inverter.

The additional bypass system which isintegrated into the UPS guarantees thehighest possible level of reliability:In cases of overload or short circuit, thebypass system automatically connects themains power input directly through to theelectrical load. M

MASTERGUARDputs you in the picture

All operating and loadconditions are indicated bylight emitting diodes (LEDs).The UPS also emits anacoustic warning signal at 4seconds intervals to indicatecritical operating situations. The audible alarm intervalgets shorter as the batteryreserve drops. This makessure that there is alwaysenough time to save thefiles you are currentlyworking on.

Interfaces

All UPS units have a COM Ainterface which combinesserial communication andsignalling functions. Withthe help of optional UPSsoftware, the serial interfaceallows a range of monitoringfunctions to be implemented.

MASTERGUARDcommunicates with yourcomputer

You can decide yourself howto integrate MASTERGUARDinto your system: • Automatic operation withoutuser intervention • Direct communicationbetween UPS and computer • Integration of the UPS as anetwork client with centralmonitoring • Communication of operatingconditions to externalsignalling systems.

In the simplest scenario, you just need to connect ancable between the UPS andthe computer – in manycases UPS software isalready integrated into theoperating systems, e. g.: • Banyan Vines • IBM (AS400, LAN-Server,LAN-Manager,...) • Microsoft (Windows NT,Windows 95) • Novell (UPS Card, Mouseport,...) • Siemens-Nixdorf (MX andRM systems).

UPS Software forMASTERGUARD:

The right software ensuresthat the MASTERGUARDsafety features are availablefor every type of system, from standalone PCs tosophisticated computingenvironments.

MASTERGUARD softwareis available for all commonoperating systems andnetworks and is able towork with SNMP. Furtherinformation is available inthe product description ofthe MASTERGUARD UPSControl PowerProtect NET.
