WHAT? SIENA, acronym for Servicios Integrales para el

ENvejecimiento Activo (in english Integral Services for Active Ageing), is an association born in December 2011 in Manresa (Barcelona) with the aim to promote and disseminate the paradigm shift that active ageing supposes for the quality of life of elderly persons.

WHO? (I) Its founding members Oriol Puig (27,

Journalist), José Luis Buenache (35, Jurist) and Sònia Díaz (37, Sociologist) belive that active ageing implies social change, a transformation of social policy promoted by public administrations and by the offer of associative and private sectors in order to achieve a greater mental, physical and social capacity building for elderly persons, meeting with the recommendations of the World Health Organisation.

WHO? (II): the SIENA TeamWe wish it to be innovative as well as to create impact beyond our country. Thus, we have managed to achieve (it is one of our successes) the complicity of external experts, some of them with international experience, sharing our vision and mission to work as freelance with us in the design, execution and promotion of active ageing projects. Each expert participate on the basis of its experiences, knowledge and availability.

Contribute by continued actions to disseminate and promote active ageing through social networks, as well as traditional media, in order to break the stereotype of the elderly, on the one hand, and also making known the benefits that active ageing involves to society, on the other.
