ARAB TIMES, FRIDAY, MAY 27, 2016 22 Photos from the event ICSK Amman conducts senate investiture ceremony The Indian Community School Ku- wait, Amman organised a magnificent investiture ceremony of the school senate 2016-2017 in the school au- ditorium on May 12, 2016. Principal of Indian Educational School, T. Premkumar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The auspicious cer- emony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Principal, Vice-Principal, Senate Ad- visor and Section Supervisor. Investiture Ceremony is an occa- sion when the school acknowledges the upcoming leaders and reposes trust in them. It was a defining mo- ment and indeed an occasion of great pride and honour for the newly inducted senate members, house captains and prefects. Principal Rajesh Nair extended a very warm welcome to the guests and parents. He reminded the students about their duties and responsibili- ties during the tenure in the senate. The musical rendition of “Yesterday’s Dream” by the students added cha- risma to the ceremony. Chief Guest, T. Premkumar invest- ed the members of the Core Senate with the badges followed by Principal and Vice Principal. House Mentors pinned up the badges for the pre- fects. The oath was administered by Principal Rajesh Nair. The newly elected senate comprises the senate President Tania T. Cherian, Vice- President Tobias J. Saju, Sports Captain Aadrian Boby, Assistant Sports Captain Beneeta Ann Jacob, Arts Club Secretary Jayantika and assistant Arts Club Secretary Mriga Arora. House Captain (Seva) Sid- darth M. Nair, Assistant House Cap- tain Arpita Patnaik, House Captain (Santosh) Jemy George, Assistant House Captain Akash Ajay, House Captain ( Sahyog) Astha Thakkar & Alefiya Husain, Assistant House Captain Manoj Kumar A, House Cap- tain (Shanti) Sidra Husain Dalvi, As- sistant House Captain Jessica Ser- rao were also invested. The Investiture Ceremony also wit- nessed the launching of the House Clubs and the release of club manu- als. Vice-Principal Dr Mary Isaac, in her address, briefed about the ob- jectives of House clubs and the im- portance of having clubs in schools. The various clubs and their division is : Seva House Arts, Craft & Herit- age Club, Santosh House Sports & IT Club, Sahyog House Literary & Career Club and Shanti House Ecol- ogy Club. The chief guest Premkumar exhort- ed the students to dream more about their ambitions so that they can be made a reality. Senate Advisor Mrs Aleyamma Satheesh in her speech, advised the Senate members not to have any personal interest while shouldering the responsibility as- signed to them. Further, she added that the contribution, aim and inter- est of every senate member should be only one and that is to serve the school. The newly invested senate President Tania T. Cherian delivered the acceptance speech on behalf of the senate. Vice President Tobias J. The contest is open to general public in Sub-Junior (class 5,6,7)/Junior (class 8,9,10)/Senior (class 11,12) and Adult (age18 and above) categories.The theme for the contest is ‘Transformation Using Technology’. Participants have to write a story/memoir, imagining that in 2025, after obtaining a PhD from IISc and reaching in a remote Indian village as part of professional assignment, how he/she was able to transform the lives of villagers using science and technology. The contest offers complete freedom to the contestants to travel through their imagination exploring the possibilities of science. Background of the writing should be real and researched. Technology solutions can be fictional. Writing should not contain any decorative images. Real photographs of the villages can be included, if they have visited one. The entry should be not more than 1,200 words, neatly typed on MS Word. Student contestants should mention their name, age, class, school, contact No. and email IDs. Contestants of adult category should mention their name, age, professional details, contact No. and email ID.
