    DOES YOUR PARTNER?

    Tell you that your child is anuisance?

    Show anger or impatience when

    your child cries or has a tantrum? Call your child BAD NAMES or

    put him down?

    Stop you from bringing yourchild to family events?

    Make ALL of the decisions foryou and your child?

    Tell you that you are a bad parentor that you should not have yourkids?

    Pretend that WHEN HE HURTSYOUR CHILD that you are to

    BLAME or that its NO BIGDEAL?

    Make your child SCARED byusing guns or knives or otherweapons?

    If you answered yes to even one of theseyour child might be at risk! NEVER leave

    your child with someone you don t trustwith your childs life .

    Far too often, a child is abused or even killedwhen left in the care of a parents partner.

    In Ohio, data shows that of those children whowere killed, the biological parent wasresponsible in 61% of the reviews. Themothers partner was cited in 28% of thereviews (Ohio Department of Health; ChildFatality Eighth Annual Report, September2008).

    Ask yourself these questions:

    Does your partner have acriminal history?

    How has he or she treated theirpast partners?

    How does he or she treat otherchildren?

    How does he or she treatanimals?

    Does he or she get angry whenyou spend time with your child?

    Remember, this is the one choice youcan make to save your child or

    children from harm or even death.

    Get you and your childto a SAFE place

    Contact Lake CountyChildren Services

    Contact your localDomestic Violenceshelter

    If you cannot get to aSAFE place, contactone of the localagencies for immediatehelp.
