Este 2010 está siendo muy duro para el conjunto de nues-tra sociedad y capear la crisis está requiriendo la atención y los esfuerzos de todos. En esta situación, mantener firme el timón en nuestras apuestas estratégicas es muy impor-tante y también lo es, para un sector económico como el logístico, mantener la atención pública en los problemas, retos y logros relativos a dicho sector. El SIL 2010 ha man-tenido el pabellón del reconocimiento de la logística y ha seguido su misión de abrir camino para concienciar a la sociedad de la importancia de este sector, una importancia que se agranda en época de crisis.

El salón ya no sólo ha sido un punto de encuentro de los profesionales de la logística y de sus empresas, también ha dado la oportunidad de apreciar que la mala situación económica ha tocado fondo en nuestro país y que muchos indicadores señalan un repunte que hay que mimar para que siga creciendo la competitividad, la productividad y los números negros.

Una de las conclusiones que SIL tras SIL va ganando fuer-za es que hay que aunar esfuerzos para poder subir un peldaño más en nuestra competitividad. Hay que hacer un esfuerzo para pensar más allá del límite de la propia em-presa. La crisis impone una logística de concentración de esfuerzos y no nos tiene que dar miedo abrirnos empresa-rialmente a nuevos socios y experiencias.

La privilegiada posición de Catalunya en el Mediterráneo y en Europa nos regala un abanico de expectativas que hay que saber aprovechar. Tenemos retos empresaria-les inaplazables que acometer, como la superación de los problemas derivados de la coyuntura financiera, los costes de producción o la morosidad. También asuntos relevantes para el sector como el precio de los combus-tibles. Aunque los árboles no han de ocultar el bosque en el que nos encontramos, donde se precisa una eficaz conexión ferroviaria para penetrar nuestros productos en Europa, y aumentar el peso de nuestras empresas en el exterior. A los empresarios logísticos no les faltan retos! Por eso es importante que tengan a su lado un socio seguro y fiable como es el SIL.

This year 2010 has been very hard for the entire socie-ty and to ride out this crisis requires the attention and efforts of all of us. In this situation, keeping the helm hard in our strategies is very important as well as it is, for an economic sector as logistics is, keeping the pu-blic attention on the problems, challenges and achie-vements related to the said sector. SIL 2010 has set the logistics recognition on a high standard and has continued with its mission of opening ways for making society aware of the importance of this sector, an im-portance which gets bigger in crisis times.

The Exhibition has not only been the meeting point for logistics professionals and their companies, but has also given the opportunity to appreciate that the bad economic situation has already hit bottom in our country and many indicators mark a recovery which has to be fussed over in order to have competitivity, productivity and black numbers growing.

One of the conclusions that SIL after SIL grows in strength is the necessity to join forces for keeping one step ahead in our competitivity. We have to make an effort for thinking beyond the limits of our own com-pany. The crisis sets a logistics of clustering efforts and we should be afraid of opening, from a business point of view, to new partners and experiences.

The privileged position of Catalonia within the Medite-rranean and Europe gives us a wide range of expec-tations that we have to take advantage of. We have business challenges which cannot be postponed, like how to overcome the problems aroused from the fi-nancial situation, production costs or late payments. There are also relevant aspects for the sector as the fuel prices. The trees should not hide the forest where we are, in which an efficient rail connection is needed in order our products can penetrate into Europe and the weight of our companies can be raised abroad. The logistics professionals have lots of challenges! That is why it is important to have a safe and reliable partner as SIL is by their side.

El SIL 2010 cubrió todos y cada uno de sus objeti-vos, logrando más visitantes profesionales, mayor calidad de los servicios, más actos paralelos y más internaciona-lidad que nunca. El Salón, durante estos doce años, se ha convertido en cita obligada y el punto de encuentro del sector de la logística de Cataluña, de España y de Europa, para muchos países del mundo.

Han sido años de intenso trabajo de un equipo profesio-nal con un claro objetivo: conseguir que España tuviera un Salón de logística para el sector que fuera un auténtico referente internacional. Hoy, podemos decir sin falsas mo-destias que el SIL es el segundo Salón logístico de Europa y el primero de España.

En la edición del 2010 de nuevo el SIL volvió a ser un lugar de excepción para conocer de primera mano oportunida-des internacionales de gran nivel, gracias a la participación de Francia como país invitado del Salón y del Líbano, como invitado del 8º Fórum Mediterráneo de Logística y Trans-porte. Del mismo modo, por primera vez contamos con la participación de una Comunidad Autónoma invitada, como fue el caso del Principado de Asturias. De este modo, el SIL puso nuevamente en práctica otro aspecto clave de su filosofía: ir siempre por delante, buscar los lugares y opor-tunidades con mayor potencial de crecimiento futuro.

Hace doce años, fuimos capaces de dar vida a una idea, a un proyecto. Nos convertimos casi en visionarios por creer que un espacio dedicado a un sector como el de la Logísti-ca, que aún tenía mucho camino por recorrer, podría llegar tan lejos. El tiempo, el trabajo y el esfuerzo de muchos nos han dado la razón.

No sé hasta donde podremos llegar. Pero el equipo huma-no que presido tiene siempre como objetivo crecer, mejorar los servicios y ser útil al sector, sin dormirse porque, aun-que no es tarea fácil, nos hemos convertido en un mode-lo a seguir, copiar y batir. De hecho, tienen ante ustedes imágenes de una realidad exitosa fruto de mucho esfuerzo e ilusión: un Salón 2010 lleno a rebosar, en donde se han hecho muchos contactos y negocios, reactivando el sector en tiempos de dificultades, aspecto que tiene más mérito aún si cabe.

Por mi parte, un compromiso: mejorar y crecer en todo, metros cuadrados, internacionalidad y servicios. Sólo me queda agradecer de corazón a todos su participación y su confianza. Seguiremos trabajando por la logística.

SIL 2010 met all its objectives, with more pro-fessional visitors, a greater quality of the services offered, more parallel events and more internationali-ty than ever. Hence, the Exhibition has become, after twelve years, a must event and the meeting point for the logistics sector of Catalonia, Spain and Europe as well as of many other countries in the world.

There have been years of hard work for a professio-nal team with a clear objective: creating a Spanish logistics Exhibition to help the sector become a real international reference. Today we are not being fal-sely modest when we state that SIL is the second logistics Exhibition in Europe and the first in Spain. The 2010 Exhibition was, again, the place to get to know first-hand high level international opportunities, thanks to the participation of France as guest country of the exhibition and of Lebanon, as guest country of the 8th Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Forum. At the same time, for the first time the exhibition had an Autonomous Government Guest: the Principality of Asturias. This way SIL carried out again one of its key assets: to go one step further, to seek new places and opportunities with more potentially future growth.

Twelve years ago, we were capable of materialising an idea into a project. We became visionaries who belie-ved that a space dedicated to a sector as logistics is, which still had a long way to go, could go so far. Time, dedication and effort of many have proved us right.

We know that we will go a long way, although our destination is uncertain. In any case, as Chairman of a team constantly focused on growth, the improve-ment of services and being useful to the sector, we have a constant drive. We have become a role mo-del that everyone wishes to follow, imitate and try to beat, so we are not facing an easy task. May this publication reflect the images of success, as fruit of much effort and enthusiasm: a 2010 Exhibition over-flowing with people where many contacts and busi-nesses were made.

Thus, on my part, I would like to set forth a com-mitment: to improve and grow in all areas, square metres, internationality and service. I just would like to sincerely thank you for your participation and con-fidence. We will continue to work for logistics.

Con una cifra de negocio por encima de los 2.000 millones de euros, el SIL 2010 registró más visitantes que nunca, un �� % de internacionalidad y un total de 61� empresas participantes. Los �0.600 profesionales que visitaron del 2� al 28 de mayo el SIL 2010 disfrutaron del “salón de la logística total”, tal como lo define el Presidente del Comité Organizador del SIL, Enrique Lacalle.

Otro éxito significativo fue la gran asistencia registrada en las 20 jornadas técnicas organizadas, que contaron con �.1�� asis-tentes y la participación de ponentes de reconocido prestigio nacional e internacional. De esta manera el extenso programa de jornadas técnicas del SIL 2010 sigue creciendo como pun-to de referencia para el conocimiento y el descubrimiento de nuevas oportunidades de negocio a todos los niveles.

With an estimated turnover of more than 2.000 million Euros, SIL 2010 registered more visitors than ever, 45 % of internationali-ty and a total 615 participating companies. The 50.600 profes-sional visitors who attend the Exhibition from 25th to 28th May enjoyed an “Exhibition of total Logistics”, as the President of the SIL Organizing Committee, Enrique Lacalle, defines it.

Another significant success was the great assistance registered at the 20 technical conferences organized within the framework of SIL, which had 3.157 attendants and the participation of speakers well-known national and internationally. Thus, the wide program of the SIL 2010 technical conferences continues to de-velop as a point of reference for knowledge and for the discovery of new business.

El Salón Internacional de la Logística y de la Manuten-ción volvió a ser el lugar ideal donde acudir para hacer nego-cios y contactos. En un contexto de dificultades económicas, el SIL 2010 supuso una bocanada de moral y aire fresco para el sector de la logística. Negocios, contactos, conocimiento, alegría… fueron las tónicas de una edición muy positiva que ha reafirmado un año más al SIL como el Salón de referencia en España y el Mediterráneo y el segundo de Europa.

The International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibi-tion was again the best place to be for making business and contacts. In a difficult economic context, SIL 2010 was a breath of fresh air and a shot of optimism for the logistics sector. Busi-nesses, contacts, knowledge, happiness… were the trends in a very positive edition which, once again, consolidated SIL as the leading Exhibition in Spain and the Mediterranean area and the second of Europe.

El SIL volvió a demostrar en su duodécima edición que es una apuesta segura. 50.600 visi-tantes profesionales, 615 empresas participantes, un 45 % de internacionalidad, 20 jornadas técnicas de gran nivel, 3.157 asistentes a las jornadas técnicas… son algunos de los datos de una edición que logró reactivar al sector.

On its twelfth edition, SIL proved again that it is a safe bet. 50.600 professional visitors, 615 participating companies, 45 % of internationality, 20 high level technical conferences, 3.157 attendants to the technical conferences… are some of the figures of an edition which mana-ged to revitalize the logistics sector.

For the first time in twelve years of history, the International Logistics and Material Handling Exhibition counted with an Auto-nomous Government Guest. Entidades de peso como la Asociación de Puertos Italianos (ASSO-PORTI), la Unión de las Plataformas Logísticas Italianas (UIR), la Red Autopistas Mediterráneas (RAM), la Agencia de la Lombardía Oriental para el Transporte y la Logística (ALOT) y destacadas empresas privadas mostraron todo el potencial logístico del país transalpino.

Italy actively participated in SIL 2010 with its own pavilion, where they showed all its poten-tial logistics through a serial of interesting tech-nical presentations. Strong companies such as Italian Ports Association (ASSOPORTI), the Ita-lian Logistics Platforms Union (UIR), the Medite-rranean Motorways Network (RAM), the Eastern Lombardy Agency for Transport and Logistics (ALOT) and outstanding private companies showed all the potential of logistics of the tran-salpine country.

¿Qué valoración hace del SIL 2010?El SIL supone un encuentro con todos los actores implicados en la cadena de transporte y en esta edición, nos ha posibilitado dar a conocer nuevos proyec-tos en los que estamos trabajando.Una de las grandes novedades del SIL 2010 ha sido la creación del Círculo Logístico, un espacio dedicado a acoger a los principales directores de logís-tica del país. Numerosas empresas participantes mantuvieron reuniones de negocios con los directores de logística miembros del Círculo de Logística.En cuanto al número de expositores y visitantes, es posible que se haya perci-bido un decrecimiento con respecto a años anteriores y se ha echado en falta una mayor presencia de cargadores.En el caso de Renfe Mercancías, hemos desarrollado un importante número de actividades y encuentros con clientes, así como presentaciones (“Presen-tación de la Oferta Intermodal de Renfe Mercancías a nuevos clientes poten-ciales del ámbito de Cataluña”), etc. y por parte de la organización del SIL, han aportado nuevas ideas para dinamizar la feria (Hospitality Area, SIL Tech, etc).

¿El Salón ha cumplido sus expectativas?A pesar de la difícil situación económica, Renfe Mercancías ha hecho un importante esfuerzo para poder participar en el Salón. Nuestro trabajo consiste en la comercialización de nuestros servicios de transporte. Pro-

What is your assessment of SIL 2010?SIL is a meeting of all the actors involved in the transport chain and, in this edition, it has enabled us to promote new projects we are working on.One of the new features of SIL 2010 has been the creation of the Logistic Circle, an area aimed at welcoming the main logistics directors of the country. Several participating companies had business meetings with the logistics directors, members of the Logistics Circle.The number of exhibitors and visitors may have decreased with regard to previous years and the number of loaders has also diminished.In the case of Renfe Mercancías, we have developed an outstanding number of activities and meetings with clients, as well as presentations (“Presentation of the Intermodal Supply of Renfe Mercancías to poten-tial new clients in the region of Catalonia”), etc. and the SIL organiza-tion has contributed giving new ideas to dynamize the Fair (Hospitality Area, SIL Tech, etc.).

gresivamente iremos cuantificando el retorno de nuestra inversión en la Feria y veremos si hemos conseguido cumplir con los objetivos propuestos como dar a conocer los nuevos proyectos en los que estamos trabajando y convertir al SIL en el punto de encuentro con todos los actores implica-dos en la cadena de transporte.Dentro de la apuesta por aumentar la cuota del ferrocarril, en el contexto de la feria, hemos firmado acuerdos como la puesta en marcha junto a la Generalitat de Catalunya, Puertos de Andalucía, Puerto de Algeciras y el operador Lorry Rail de un proyecto de análisis y estudio de una autopista ferroviaria que per-mita unir Andalucía con Cataluña y después con la red europea.Asimismo, se ha rubricado un convenio de colaboración con la Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía para definir una nueva logística ferroviaria para aumentar la eficiencia en el transporte y los procesos de intermodali-dad en Andalucía.Otro de los acuerdos firmados en el SIL ha sido la alianza estratégica con Ar-celorMittal para potenciar su cadena de suministros en Asturias.Finalmente, Renfe recibió las certificaciones de AENOR sobre su Sistema de Gestión de la Calidad (ISO 9001) y su Sistema de Gestión Ambiental (ISO 1�001) que respaldan la labor de Renfe Mercancías en estos campos.

El Salón ha introducido bastantes novedades este año, como es el caso de los Hospitality Área, el SIL TECH y SIL TRANS Área, la crea-ción del Círculo Logístico… ¿Qué le han parecido estas novedades?Era necesario, ante la perspectiva generada por la desfavorable situación del sector, articular nuevas fórmulas y mostrarse flexibles a la hora de abordar la par-ticipación de las empresas en el certamen y pienso que en este sentido, la orga-nización del SIL ha sabido adaptarse a esta coyuntura. Es imprescindible que el SIL atraiga a los cargadores a la Feria para garantizar el éxito de la misma puesto éste es el que toma la decisión de realizar el transporte por un medio u otro.

Este año el SIL ha contado con la celebración de 20 jornadas técnicas dedicadas a todos los sectores que forman parte de la cadena logísti-ca. ¿Qué opinión le merecen estas jornadas?Renfe Mercancías participa activamente, dentro del Comité Organizador, en el diseño de las Jornadas Técnicas y organiza la Jornada del Ferrocarril, en la que participaron destacados ponentes de distintos ámbitos del sector y de la administración y que supuso un éxito en cuanto a inscripciones y asistentes.Hemos participado activamente en las distintas Jornadas Técnicas, tanto como asistentes como de ponentes. Así, hemos estado presentes en las me-sas de ponentes de la “�ª JORNADA ANFAC”, la “�ª Ferrmed Conference” y en la “XVI Jornada Corresponsables”.Nuestra percepción es que el sector quiere conocer las últimas novedades e intercambiar opiniones y conocimiento con otros partícipes del mercado.

¿Cuál es su visión sobre la situación actual por la que atraviesa el sec-tor de la logística en España?Estamos inmersos en un momento económico difícil y en este contexto la industria del transporte debe redoblar sus esfuerzos a la hora de comercializar y analizar cuáles son las mejores opciones para seguir ganando eficiencia y competitividad y añadir de este modo valor a nuestros clientes.

¿Cómo ve el futuro del sector logístico en España a corto plazo? ¿Y a largo plazo?Desde Renfe Mercancías tenemos algunas señales positivas en medio de esta marejada económica. Los tráficos de automóvil y de productos siderúrgicos han registrado una mejora en los primeros meses del año con respecto al año anterior y parece que el sector exterior está registrando en estos momentos datos que muestran una senda algo más positiva.

¿Cuáles son los retos de futuro de RENFE?Nuestro papel es ofrecer al mercado nuevas soluciones de transporte por ferro-carril y competitivas en precio y calidad de servicio. Queremos colaborar con to-dos aquellos actores (operadores ferroviarios, de carretera, organismos públicos, etc) que tengan interés en potenciar el tren como modo de transporte.El objetivo fundamental de Renfe Mercancías es ganar cuota de mercado en el transporte de mercancías mediante la oferta de un servicio integral, seguro, fiable, competitivo y sostenible.En definitiva, en Renfe seguimos centrados en el cliente y proporcionarle el mejor servicio posible. Seguimos abiertos al análisis de nuevas oportuni-dades de negocio y atentos a la evolución del mercado. Estamos profun-damente comprometidos con el esfuerzo de gestión y de mejora continua para nuestros clientes.

achieved the objectives proposed, such as promoting new ongoing projects and turn SIL into the meeting point of all actors involved in the transport chain.Within the framework of increasing railway fees, within the Fair context, we have signed agreements such as the kickoff of an analysis and re-search project to build an iron highway linking Andalusia to Catalonia and, then, to the European net. This project will be carried out in collaboration with the Generalitat de Catalunya, Puertos de Andalucía, Puerto de Alge-ciras and the Lorry Rail operator.At the same time, a collaboration agreement has been signed with the Public Agency of Puertos de Andalucía to define a new rail logistics in order to increase efficiency in transport and in intermodal processes in Andalusia.Another signed agreement in SIL has been a strategic partnership with ArcelorMittal to promote its supply chain in Asturias.Finally, Renfe received the AENOR certifications on its Quality Manage-ment System (ISO 9001) and its Environment Management System (ISO 1�001) that support the Renfe Mercancías work in these fields.

The Exhibition has introduced some new features this year, such as the Hospitality Area, SIL TECH and SIL TRANS Area, the crea-tion of the Logistics Circle… What is your assessment on these?In view of the perspective created by the unfavourable situation of the sector, there was the need to articulate new formulas and be flexible when tackling the participation of companies in the Fair. I think that, in this sense, the organization of SIL has managed to adapt itself to this situation. It is essential for SIL to attract loaders to the Fair in order to guarantee its success, since they are the ones making the decision of what means of transport to take.

This year SIL has held 20 technical conferences dedicated to all sectors that are part of the logistic chain. What do you think about these conferences?Renfe Mercancías actively participates, within the Organizing Com-mittee, in the design of the Technical Conferences and organizes the Railway Conference, where outstanding speakers of several areas of the sector and the administration took part and it was a success in registrations and audience.We have actively participated in several Technical Conferences, as part of the audience and as speakers. We have been at the speakers’ tables of the “ANFAC’S �th CONFERENCE”, the “�rd Ferrmed Conference” and in the “XVI Corresponsables Conference”.Our vision is that the sector wants to know the new features and inter-change opinions and knowledge with other market participants.

What do you think about the current situation that is facing the logistics sector in Spain?We are going through a very difficult economic period and, within this context, the transport industry must double its efforts in marketing and analyzing the best options to keep winning efficiency and competitivity and to add value to our clients.

How do you see the future of the Spanish logistics sector in the short term? And in the long term?From Renfe Mercancías we have some positive signals amongst this eco-nomic agitation. Car and iron and steel trades have registered an impro-vement in the first months of the year compared to last year and it seems that the foreign sector is also moving towards a more positive track.

Which are the future challenges of RENFE?Our role is to offer to the market new transport solutions by rail, that are competitive in price and service quality. We want to collaborate with all those actors (rail and road operators, public bodies, etc.) that have an interest in promoting train as a mean of transport.The basic objective of Renfe Mercancías is to achieve market share in freight transport by means of supplying a complete, safe, reliable, com-petitive and sustainable service.Definitively, in Renfe we are focused on the client and on providing him with the best possible service. We are open to the analysis of new bu-siness opportunities and pay attention to the evolution of the market. We are deeply committed to the effort in management and continuous improvement for our clients.

The Círculo Logístico has been the best of all initiatives, taking into ac-count that this year there have been many novelties. For us, the exhi-bitors, this SIL has been more aware tan ever of our needs as clients in terms of business generation and return of investment. With this initiative it has managed to attract our target (Supply Chain, Logistics and Transport directors) and get them in touch with the exhibitors. En líneas generales, hemos quedado satisfechos de cómo se ha desarrollado esta edición del Salón SIL. La verdad es que sabíamos que este es un momento en el que las compañías debemos invertir más que nunca aunque la situación del sector no sea la óptima, porque somos de

los que pensamos que es en estos momentos cuando las compañías del sector que quieran estar un paso por delante deben de desarrollar sus procesos de inversión. Y nosotros con ellos. Hemos estado desa-rrollando fórmulas para aumentar la productividad y la competitividad de las empresas que usan nuestros sistemas y en este SIL nos hemos visto recompensados. En lo referente a visitas, nos hemos puesto a niveles de 2008, doblando las de 2009, y además la calidad de las mismas ha sido elevada, pro-porcionando así gran cantidad de posibilidades de negocio reales. Es de apreciar que también el Salón ha realizado un esfuerzo para adecuar su oferta al momento, y creo que con éxito.

In general, we are satisfied of how this edition of SIL has deve-loped. We knew that this is a moment in which companies have to invest more than ever even if the situation of the sector is not ideal, because we are of those who think that it is in this current times in which companies of the sector who want to be one step ahead have to develop their investment processes. And oursel-ves with them. We have been developing ways for increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the companies who use our systems and we have seen ourselves rewarded on this SIL. With regards to professional visits, we have achieved the 2008 level, doubling even those of 2009, and they have been highly qualif ied, which has provided many real business possibil it ies. The Organization of the Exhibition has made an effort for adap-ting its offer to the present times and, under my point of view, successfully.

For me, this edition of SIL means an inflection point on last years trend and it turns to be a referent for a new positive dynamics of the Spanish logistics sector. The participation of companies and professionals have increased and the relations in order to achieve a re-evolution of the logistics function in our country begin to been fostered. The fact that once again SIL is an interna-tional reference and leads this change in rhythm at a national level should make us feel very proud.

Se trata de una feria con una relevancia muy importante. Pude asistir tanto al Fórum del Mediterráneo como al encuentro de Almacenes y Zonas Francas y otorgo una muy buena nota a estos encuentros profesionales realmente interesantes. Los

diferentes forums o jornadas técnicas promovidas por los organizadores del evento sobre diferentes temas y sectores debería ser un punto de encuentro obligado de todos los profesionales del sector, para poder disponer de pun-tos de discusión mucho más amplios. El poder ver como se está trabajando en estos momentos, cómo se va a desarrollar en el futuro el tráfico ferroviario tanto en España como a nivel europeo, las posibilidades que ofrecen, el puerto de Barcelona en conexiones de transporte multimodal, y los puertos en el Mediterráneo y el estado en que se encuentran las inversiones y am-pliaciones, son datos a tener muy en cuenta para nuestro análisis en futuras rutas o medios de transporte. Es un encuentro al que cualquier profesional vinculado al sector logístico no puede faltar.

This Exhibition has a great relevance. I attended to the Mediterra-nean Forum as well as to the Conference on Free Zones and Bonded Warehouses and I give a good mark to these professional meetings which are really interesting. The fact of having the opportunity to see how people work on the present times, how the Spanish and European rail traffic will be developed in the future, the possibilities offered by the Barcelona Port in terms of multimodal transport connections, the Mediterranean ports and estate of invest-ments and expansions, are data that should be taken into account for our analysis on future routes or transport media. It is a meeting that all professionals related to logistics sector should attend.

Creo que la creación del Círculo Logístico en el SIL 2010 es un acierto como iniciativa innovadora en sí

misma, en un momento y situación coyuntural en el que adquiere mayor relevancia el dicho popular de “renovarse o morir”. Creo asi-mismo que es útil como elemento facilitador de contactos y relacio-nes comerciales, teniendo en cuenta que además de la coordinación de tales contactos que realiza la propia Organización, hay que añadir el espacio físico y los recursos humanos y materiales que se ponen a disposición de los profesionales para que tales contactos se lleven a cabo. En mi caso concreto atendí algunas de las propuestas de con-tacto con resultado satisfactorio. En mi opinión el Círculo Logístico tiene un potencial de desarrollo futuro importante, que se logrará tras el rodaje adecuado, como sucede en todas las iniciativas novedo-sas. Aprovecho esta oportunidad para animar a la Organización del SIL a que sigan trabajando en este desarrollo potencial. Finalmente, pienso que el Círculo Logístico es también un estímulo para incre-mentar la asistencia de los profesionales de la Logística a la feria SIL, hecho que sin duda retroalimentará y potenciará la propia feria.

The creation of the Círculo Logístico within SIL 2010 is a wise move as innovative initiative on itself, in a moment and in an economic si-tuation in which the saying “you have to change with times” acquires more relevance than ever. I also think that it is useful as an element which facilitates contacts and commercial relationships, besides the coordination of these contacts by the own Organization, one have to take into account the physical space and the human resources and materials made available for the professionals so as these contacts can be carried out. In my own case, I attended some of the con-tact proposals with a satisfactory result. Under my point of view, the Círculo Logístico has an important future development potential, which will be achieved through experience, as it also happens with some other new initiatives. I would like to take this opportunity for encouraging the Organization of SIL to keep on working on this po-tential development. Finally, I also consider the Círculo Logístico as an stimulus for increasing the attendance of Logistics professionals to the Exhibition, a fact that will, doubtless, feed back and foster the own Exhibition.

¿Cómo está afrontando Abertis Logística el momento actual del sector?Actualmente, el sector de la logística está experimentado un proceso de corrección de los niveles de ocupación, así como de los precios. Ambos factores están asociados directamente con el descenso de la producción y del consumo, derivados de la coyuntura económica. En este contexto sectorial y económico, abertis logística está llevando a cabo una estrategia de consolidación y gestión de sus activos, con

How is Abertis Logística facing the current period of the sector?Currently, the logistics sector is undergoing a correction pro-cess in the occupational levels, as well as in the prices. Both factors are directly associated with the decrease of production and consumption, which arise from the economic situation. In this sector-wide and economic context, abertis logística is carrying out a strategy to consolidate and manage its assets,

una adecuación de los niveles de inversión y un impulso del área co-mercial y de ventas, flexibilizando la gestión y la oferta para adaptarla a las necesidades cambiantes de nuestros clientes y cooperando en el análisis de la problemática de almacenaje y distribución, buscando soluciones que optimicen sus necesidades. Se trata, en definitiva, de escuchar a nuestros clientes y dar respuesta a sus necesidades.

¿En ese sentido, cómo responde Abertis Logística al cambio en las necesidades de sus clientes?Uno de los principales valores que los mercados aprecian cada vez más es la idea de flexibilidad. En abertis logística aplicamos la fle-xibilidad en todas nuestras propuestas. Hemos acuñado el término “flexilogística”, concepto que refleja nuestra política de adaptación a las necesidades de los clientes. Nos esforzamos por facilitar a nuestros clientes soluciones flexibles que favorezcan la optimiza-ción de costes. Al mismo tiempo, estamos impulsando el concepto de “partenariado” con nuestros clientes, y ya estamos viendo algu-nos casos de éxito.

¿Qué expectativas tiene de cara al futuro?Uno de los principales retos será gestionar las consecuencias de un entorno macroeconómico más complejo. Desde abertis logís-tica consideramos imprescindible dar un servicio absolutamente eficaz y eficiente, tanto operativa como económicamente. También es fundamental promover un avance hacia el reconocimiento de la logística como una oportunidad a la hora de la comercialización de los productos. Ese progreso implicará la profesionalización y la optimización en tiempos y costes, así como un mayor grado de exigencia a los proveedores.

¿En el panorama español e internacional, cuál es la contribu-ción de Abertis Logística al sector?Aportamos una sólida y creciente red de parques en los principales puntos de ruptura de la cadena logística en España, Portugal y Amé-rica Latina. Gestionamos un concepto integral de parque ofreciendo una amplia oferta de servicios, y nuestra filosofía es la de inversor a lar-go plazo, siempre comprometido con el territorio y con su desarrollo.

Queremos ser un punto de referencia y marca de prestigio por la calidad y adaptabilidad de nuestras instalaciones y servicios a los clientes. Estamos en las mejores condiciones para ofrecer esta exi-gible calidad, con prestaciones y servicios adecuados a las nece-sidades de nuestros clientes, y a la vez consolidar el concepto de “flexibilidad”. Desde abertis logística creemos que es el momento de poner en valor nuestras fortalezas, con una apuesta decidida por nuestras principales señas de identidad, como son el compromiso con el territorio, la solidez y el sentido industrial y la visión a largo plazo de nuestro modelo de negocio, lo que creo que nos permitirá salir reforzados de esta crisis.

¿Cuál es la dimensión actual de la compañía?Actualmente, los proyectos que desarrolla abertis logística en España, Portugal y Chile ocupan una superficie bruta de �1� hectáreas, con una superficie edificable de casi tres millones de metros cuadrados. Al cierre de 2009, la compañía contaba con cerca 9�0.000 m2 de techo logístico construido, con un nivel de ocupación del ��%.

¿Cómo valora esta última edición del SIL 2010?El SIL es el salón sectorial de referencia para España y el Sur de Europa, y como tal, representa una oportunidad única como punto de encuentro tanto entre empresas como con las administracio-nes. Estamos muy satisfechos con la última edición, ya que ha sido el marco idóneo, no sólo para hacer negocio, sino también para intercambiar experiencias y opiniones y debatir sobre el presente y el futuro del sector. Esperamos que las próximas ediciones sigan siendo tan positivas.

In this sense, how is Abertis Logística answering to the change in the clients’ needs?One of the main values that the markets are gradually appre-ciating is the concept of flexibility. En abertis logística we adopt flexibility in all our proposals. We have coined the term “flexilogistics”, a concept that reflects our policy of adapting to the needs of the clients. We do our best to provide our clients with flexible solutions that favour the optimization of costs. At the same time, we are promoting the idea of “par-tnership” with our clients, and we are already having some successful cases.

What are your future expectations?One of the main challenges will be to manage the consequen-ces of a more complex macroeconomic environment. From abertis logística, we think it is essential to give a completely efficient service, both operatively and economically. It is also fundamental to foster a step forward towards the recognition of logistics as an opportunity for product marketing. This pro-gress will entail the professionalization and optimization of ti-mes and costs, as well as becoming more exacting with su-ppliers.

In the Spanish and international framework, what is the contribution of Abertis Logística to the sector?We contribute to a firm and growing net of parks in the main breaking points of the logistics chain in Spain, Portugal and La-tin America. We manage an integral concept of park and offer a wide range of services, and our philosophy is that of the long-term investor, always committed to the territory and its deve-lopment.

We want to be a prestigious benchmark for the quality and adaptability of our facilities and services to the clients. We are in the best conditions to offer this demandable quality, we have provisions and services that are adapted to our clients needs and, at the same time, we can consolidate the concept of “fle-xibility”. From abertis logística we believe that this is the time to value our strengths, to make a determined bet on our main trademarks, such as commitment with the territory, strength and industrial consciousness and the long-term vision of our business model, which will enable us to come out of this crisis stronger.

What is the current dimension of the company?At the moment, the projects developed by abertis logística in Spain, Portugal and Chile take up a gross area of �1� hectares, with a buildable area of nearly three million square meters. At the end of 2009, the company had 9�0,000 m2 of built logistic ceiling, with an occupational level of ��%.

How do you assess this last edition of SIL 2010?SIL is the benchmark exhibition of the sector in Spain and south of Europe and, as such, it is a unique meeting point for compa-nies and the administration. We are very pleased with the last edition, as it has been the ideal framework, not only business-wise, but also to exchange experiences and opinions and dis-cuss the present and future of the sector. We hope the coming editions will be just as positive.

La 8ª edición del Fórum Mediterráneo de Logística y Transporte se consolidó nue-vamente como la plataforma anual del sector y un referente de debate sobre los temas de interés y las nuevas políticas del sector de la logística y el transporte en el Mediterráneo. Al mismo tiempo, en el mar-co del 8º Fórum Mediterráneo de Logística y Transporte tuvo lugar la 3ª Cumbre Me-diterránea de Puertos y la 1ª Jornada del Port de Barcelona.

The 8th edition of the Mediterranean Lo-gistics and Transport Forum consolidated itself again as the sector annual platform and a referent of debate for the main is-sues of interest and the new policies of lo-gistics and transport in the Mediterranean area. Likewise, within the framework of the 8th Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Forum the 3rd Mediterranean Ports Summit and the 1st Barcelona Port Conference took place

El Líbano, país que se ha posicionado como un significativo por-tal para los países Mediterráneos gracias a los ambiciosos pla-nes de construcción y privatización de grandes infraestructuras de transporte, fue el país invitado de la presente edición.

El Fórum contó en su inauguración con la presencia del Vice Ministro de Transportes de Siria, Rajeh Sarea, que destacó el papel que juegan los dos puertos principales del país –Latakia Port y Tartos Port- en el Mediterráneo, así como las distintas conexiones de este país con Iraq, Líbano, Turquía, Jordania y Arabia Saudí.

Lebanon, a country which has positioned itself as a signi-ficant portal to the Mediterranean countries thanks to the ambitious plans of building and privatization of great trans-port infrastructures, was the guest country in this edition.

In its official opening, the Forum counted with the presence of the Syrian Deputy Minister of Transport, Rajeh Sarea, who stressed the role of the two main Syrian ports -Lata-kia Port and Tartos Port- on the Mediterranean, besides of the connections of this country with Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Jornadas TécnicasTechnical Conferences

Con sus 20 jornadas sobre todos los ámbi-tos de la logística y del transporte, SIL 2010 volvió a ser un “salón de la logística total”, en palabras de Enrique Lacalle, presidente del comité organizador del Salón. En este sentido, las sesiones técnicas contaron con la mayor participación registrada, con 3.157 asistentes en total.

Como novedades, destacaron la 1ª Jornada ACTE, la 1ªJornada del Port de Barcelona, la sesión “Las claves del éxito de un TENDER”, los workshops sectoriales SIL FOOD y SIL Pharma & Health, las Jornadas CEL-ELA Bestlog, CEL-Logistop y CEL-Zetes, los workshops ITENE SIL 2010 y la Jornada Correspon-sables. Igualmente se celebraron foros ya Tradicionales del SIL como la 11ª Jornada de Zonas y Depósitos Francos, la 6ª Jor-nada del Ferrocarril y la �ª Jornada de Manutención y Almace-naje. Repitieron también con éxito la �ª Jornada ANFAC, el �º Supply Chain Outsourcing Forum, la �ª FERRMED Conference y la 2ª Jornada de Sistemas de la Información para la logística.

With its 20 conferences on all aspects of logis-tics and transport, SIL 2010 was once again a “global logistics exhibition”, in the words of Enrique Lacalle, president of the Exhibition’s Organizing Committee. The technical confe-rences had the greatest number of registered participants, 3.157 in total.

This year’s new features included the 1st ACTE Conference, the 1st Port de Barcelona Conference, the session “The Success Keys of a TENDER”, the sectorial SIL FOOD and SIL Pharma & Health workshops, the CEL-ELA, CEL-Logistop and CEL-Zetes Conferences, the ITENE SIL 2010 workshops and the Corres-ponsables Conference. Besides some other already traditional forums were held at SIL such as the 11th Conference on Free Trade Zones and Bonded Warehouses, the 6th Railway Conferen-ce and the �th Material Handling and Storage Conference. Also successful were again the �th ANFAC Conference, the �rd Supply Chain Outsourcing Forum, the �rd FERRMED Conference and the 2nd Conference on Information Systems for Logistics.
