Digitalization, innovation from entirely new players, changing regulations, low margins, new customer expectations – today’s and future challenges are immense. The increasing speed of change today requires new ways of thinking and acting for every company. There are hardly any barriers to entry for new-comers, given today’s technologies. Much more difficult, however, is transforming an existing organization that has been successful in the past and finding new ways of delivering value to its customers.
Challenge
ObjectivesGetting leaders oriented to a dramatically different future is an important step for developing winning strategies that ensure future success. Learning from Silicon Valley leaders and enterprises is an excellent starting point. Once the potential of a rapidly transforming future is understood by top management, companies can more easily overcome associated challenges and take advan-tage of new opportunities.
to inspire leaders to guide their companies into a successful future position in topics like innovation, future trends and business models.
to learn from companies in Silicon Valley and translate the most relevant insights into strategies at home.
to establish contacts and potential business partner-ships with companies, startups and incubators.

It offers attendees proven methods and easy-to-use tools (e.g. CO-STAR) for rapidly developing ideas that give its users an innovation advantage. Take-aways include:
Capitalizing on technology disruptions with new innovation strategies and business models Innovation practices for pitching and perfecting compelling value propositions Innovation architecture and software for sourcing ideas and facilitating selection and funding Building dynamic networks to support value creation across boundaries Aligning the organization and leadership to promote game-changing results Creating an entrepreneurial mindset and a culture of how to innovate

What distinguishes EDG’s Silicon Valley Immersion Programs?
EDG’s immersion programs are focused on learning about innovation and disruptive technologies. The programs are different in quite substantial ways from other typical programs:
Greater degree of customization We will conduct the necessary research
and client interviews and tap into our vast
Bay Area network to put together unique
programs that are completely aligned to a
client’s strategic and learning objectives.
Better integration between company visits and workshopsWe view company visits as being syner-
gistic with our workshops - the learning
in one reinforces the learning in the other.
We put a lot of effort into ensuring that
company visits and all other program
components are fully integrated with
each other.
Able to provide post-program consultingWe offer relevant follow up work after a
program. This can range from post-pro-
gram coaching to comprehensive
consulting to help an organization
formulate and execute an innovation
strategy.
Greater impact on businessWe match the interests of visiting
companies with those of Silicon Valley
companies we visit. Our goal is to facil-
itate significant business development
among partners.
More dynamic and mobileWe conduct our workshops at a vari-
ety of locations. Participants truly SEE
and EXPERIENCE Silicon Valley, gaining
greater insights into the mix of cultures
and contexts that create the Valley’s
world-transforming innovations.
Shared Roadmap to the futureWe take a strategic approach to
enable participants to integrate their
insights and learning. Each participant
will create an innovation blueprint for
his/her company.
Able to facilitate strategy discussionsWe can conduct facilitated strategy
sessions as part of our programs.
It’s not just transferring knowledge
through lectures, but actually helping
a company on strategic developments
and commitments.
More practical contentOur programs provide practical tools,
templates and frameworks which can
be immediately applied to real world
problems

Target ParticipantsSignificant enterprise transformation is most productive when driven from the top. It is for this reason, that our immersion tours are designed specifically for the C-Level of a company. Groups of executives experience the evolution of their mindsets in terms of innovation and culture. Once back at the company, the newly envisioned transformation will be lead by Top Management acting with much greater clarity and conviction – one of the most important factors for successfully overcoming today’s and tomorrow’s challenges and leading the enterprise into a positive future.
Examples of former Customer Journeys
A new Lufthansa Technik division was started 1/1/17 based on our work with them during their Silicon Valley immersion sessions. Even before this significant organ-izational change was made, the immediate follow-up (conducted by our local partners shortly after the immersion) had already resulted in a number of new products, services and organizational redesigns.
In their Blueprinting work during the journey here, the Swiss Post’s Executive Team committed to an autonomous mobility strategy, and the Post now has a robust autonomous mobility effort, with shuttles, package transporters and flying drones. In recognition of these developments the Swiss Post made Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies Index 2016 and 2017.
With our assistance Airbus developed a highly productive partnership with Autodesk, which lead to the development of a 3D printed “bionic” partition that is stronger and much lighter than previous designs and saves the equivalent of approx. 460,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions/year. It was presented by the CEO of Autodesk at a recent global Autodesk Conference.
These companies credit their journey here and the associated blueprint work for these developments.
OfferingThe design of the immersion tour typically starts 4 months in advance. The participants will be interviewed in advance to find common interests. Based on these inputs, EDG contacts the appropriate companies to visit and drafts a plan with specific goals for each visit. In some cases EDG facilitates conversations between the clients and relevant companies prior to the tour if that is deemed useful for a potential business relationship.
