STTP on
“AWS Cloud Architecting”
Organized By
Department of Computer Engineering
A five-day Short Term Training Program on ‘AWS Cloud Architecting’ was organized from
February 25, 2019 to March 1, 2019 by the Department of Computer Engineering, Silver Oak
College of Engineering and Technology, sponsored by GUJCOST, DST, and Government of
Gujarat. The program aimed at empowering students, faculty members and industrialist and
makes them learn and develop the understanding about the AWS cloud architecture from scratch.
Expert Introduction
1. Mr. Harshal Trivedi (AWS Alexa Hero) - Mr. Harshal Trivedi is AWS Alexa Hero who
is currently working as CTO at Wobot Intelligence. Mr. Harshal Trivedi is Co-Founder of
SoftVan, Wobot Intelligence and Innoventaa. Harshal has been an IT Technocrat and
works closely with Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, and Big
Data.
2. Mr. Nilesh Vaghela (AWS Community Hero) : Mr. Nilesh Vaghela is an AWS
Community Hero with a working experience of more than 2 decades. He is associated with
Linux Community since 1998. He started working with AWS since 2013 and within one
year, he has trained a dedicated cloud team and started full support of AWS Cloud
Services as a AWS Standard Consulting partner. Nilesh Vaghela is the founder of
ElectroMech Corporation, an AWS Cloud and open source focused company.
The STTP started with the inaugural function.
The STTP was inaugurated with a felicitation to the experts by Dr.Saurin Shah (Principal,
SOCET) and Dr. Pina Bhatt (Principal, ASOIT). Followed by a brief keynote by Prof.SatvikKhara
(Head, Department of Computer Engineering, SOCET), the STTP was set open.
Over a period of 5-days, the following topics were covered as a part of this Programme.
Day 1 - Session 1: Introduction to AWS
Mr. Harshal Trivedi gave a detailed introduction on advantages of Cloud Computing as
well as fundamentals of cloud services.
Day 1 - Session 2: Introduction to EC2
The expert discussed about Amazon Elastic Compute cloud.
Day 1 - Session 3: Introduction to Amazon Echo
The expert gave a detailed insight on Amazon Elastic Compute cloud.

Day 2 - Session 1: What is Alexa?
Day 2 began with the introduction of Alexa.
Day 2 - Session 2: Alexa Concepts, modules and programming
The fundamental modules of Alexa programming were discussed.
Day 2 - Session 3: Alexa Skills
An overview of how Alexa can be trained to perform skills.
Participants gaining insight about Alexa and Amazon Echo.
Devices like Alexa and Amazon Echo were brought in for a more hands-on experience

Day 3 - Session 1: Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon Glacier
Storage:
Mr. Nilesh Vaghela gave a briefing about Load balancing and CloudWatch.
Day 3 - Session 2: Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)
A detailed session on how Amazon Simple Storage Service is changing the game.
Day 3 - Session 3: AWS Identity and Access Management
For an enhanced understanding about the Identification and resource access.
Mr. Nilesh Vaghela talking about AWS Subscription Workflow.
The participants were fully indulged in the Amazon S3 session.
Day 4 - Session 1: Database and AWS and Simple Queue Services
An insightful session on how Queueing services enable coupling and decoupling
microservices on distributed systems.
Day 4 - Session 2: Subscription Workflow and Simple Notification Service
How workflows help in tracking the state and coordinate the tasks in the cloud.
Day 4 - Session 3: Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) and Amazon
Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS)
An interesting session on Fusing the power of Virtual network and the scalable
infrastructure of AWS.

Day 5 - Session 1: Domain Name System (DNS), Amazon Route 53, Amazon
ElastiCache
The expert shed some light about how the performance of web applications with the help
of Amazon ElastiCache.
Day 5 - Session 2: Additional Key Services, Security on AWS
A brief highlight on how key services handle the security on AWS.
Day 5- Session 3: AWS Risk and Compliance, Architecture Best Practices
A detailed explanation about the Best Practices for making the most out of the cloud
Architecture. The key highlight of the program was FUTURE OF VOICE
TECHNOLOGY IN AI: EXPLORING ALEXA PROGRAMMING.

STTP ended with the Closing Ceremony.
Total 51 industrialists, professors, and students from different companies and institutes
participated in this five days STTP. This training program was successfully conducted and
provided an enriching experience to the participants. All candidates were satisfied with the course
and had good experience of having practical knowledge of recent technologies.

on approach, we could easily understand the concepts.

Amazon. Skill development will add value to my knowledge.
