With more than 60 years of history Silverstone has become one of the most prestigious venues dedicated to motorsport. Completely revamped in recent years, a multimillion pound investment saw the completion in 2010 of a first phase of works to greatly improve the venue, making it one of the fastest tracks on the MotoGP calendar and earning high praise from the World Championship riders who enjoyed the new layout. The ‘Silverstone Wing’, a state-of-the-art, multi-million pound complex, became a new landmark at the circuit from 2011, thus adding to already breathtaking facilities at Silverstone. Avec plus de soixante ans d’histoire, Silverstone est l’un des circuits les plus prestigieux pour bon nombre de sports mécaniques. Refait à neuf ces dernières années, l’investissement de plusieurs millions de livres sterling a abouti à la fin de la première phase de travaux en 2010 et à l’inauguration d’un des tracés les plus rapides du calendrier MotoGP. Le complexe stands/paddock intitulé ‘Silverstone Wing’ accueille le MotoGP pour la première fois en 2011 et promet d’être l’une des infrastructures pour sports mécaniques les plus modernes. Mit mehr als 60 Jahren Rennsportgeschichte wurde Silverstone zu einem der renommiertesten Gastgeber. In den letzten Jahren mit mehreren Millionen Pfund Investition komplett überarbeitet wurde die Strecke 2010 mit großartigen Verbesserungen fertig gestellt und wurde damit zu einem der schnellsten Strecken im MotoGP-Kalender. Sogar die Weltmeisterschaftspiloten lobten das neue Layout in den höchsten Tönen. Der mit mehreren Millionen Pfund neu geschaffene Pit- und Paddock-Komplex wird als 'Silverstone Wing’ bezeichnet und wird mit der atemberaubenden Alnga in Silverstone die MotoGP auch 2011 willkommen heißen.

SILVERSTONE 1979

1979 BRITISH GRAND PRIX En 1979, Honda lançait la NR500 4-temps dans la catégorie 500cc alors dominée par les 2-temps. Les motos étaient pilotées par Mick Grant et Takazumi Katayama. Grant chuta dès le premier virage et Katayama boucla cinq tours avant d’abandonner. In 1979 debütierte Honda mit der NR500 Viertakt-Maschine im Wettbewerb der etablierten Zweitakter in der 500ccm-Klasse. Die Motorräder wurden von Mick Grand und Takazumi Katayama gefahren. Grant stürzte in der ersten Runde und Katayama komplettierte eine Hand voll Runden. In 1979 Honda debuted the NR500 four-stroke challenge to the established 2-stroke machines in the 500cc class. The bikes were ridden by Mick Grant and Takazumi Katayama. Grant crashed at the first corner and Katayama completed a handful of laps before retiring.
