This poster, much like my own idea, makes creative use of text in order to emphasize one of the film’s selling points. In the placement of Jim Carrey’s name the producing institution have effectively engaged

their targeted audience’s attention through celebrity endorsement. I however, am planning to do the same, using text to represent the film title in a different way not the actor’s name. I will take inspiration from this poster as they have created a bold text design in order to engage their targeted audience effectively. I will

do the same in order to emphasize the significance of the title and the symbolic weight it carries for the silent narrative.

Having the main character represented in an over exaggerated pose portrays the mocking themes within the narrative that the producing institution are hoping will be communicated effectively. The mocking image represents the main character as a clown and foreshadows the ways in which the narrative will mock the characters values, enticing it’s targeted audience therefore as they are targeted by the use of humour. The main image also includes the use of props that depicts the main ideologies within the narrative. I am hoping also to use symbolism in my final product to portray the significance of the product in John’s life.

The producing credits are used on the poster to impact the opinion of the targeted audience at first glance. Where the fame of the main character is revealed the targeted audience will next look towards the producing institution for a sense of quality assurance. In making use of the producing credits the producing institution has offered a second level of quality guarantee as the producing institution can impact a film’s success off the back of its own reputation.

The use of colour schemes in the poster contribute to the efforts made by the producing institution to grab the audience’s attention. Having a plain white background and the bold text colour will naturally interest the targeted audience. I am hoping to imitate this in order to engage my targeted audience

effectively.
