CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE
ELECTRIC INDUCTION FURNACE
Steps Involved in Induction Furnace Can be Summarized as follows:
* CHARGING
The Charge is Prepared by magnets according to the grades proposed Chemistry for the
targeted, Steel Scrap is charged in the Induction Furnace.
NORMAL SCRAP MAGNET
* MELTING
Melting is accomplished by injecting energy to the charge materials in the form of
electrical energy. An alternate electromagnetic field induces eddy currents in the metal
which convert the electric energy to heat. In Induction furnace charged Metal is melted at
about 1300 degree centigrade.
The Furnace
Spectro Max
Once the final charge has been melted and is reached at melt stage, Temperature
measurement is taken and sample is drown for determining the Chemical Composition
In the laboratory by a Spectro Max device of liquid metal .
* DE-SLAGGING
De-slagging is the process by which the slag layer above the steel is removed from the
furnace . This process is important for removing impurities from the molten material .
De-slagging
- The furnace is titled towards the slag box
to remove slag .
Ferro Alloys
Once de-slagging process completed required amount of ferro alloys (silico Manganese Si Mn)
and ( Ferro Silicon Fe Si ) is added as per required grade . Temperature of liquid at time of
addition id maintained to 1500 degree centigrade . They are important alloys to control
billet Quality .
* ADDITION OF FERRO ALLOYS
* TAPPING
After reaching the required temperature and composition, metal is tapped in to ladle and
sent to continuous casting unit for casting of billet . Tapping temperature is maintained
at about 1650 degree centigrade .
Tapping
Molten steel from induction Furnace is tapped into a laddle and taken to the continuous
casting machine (CCM) . Liquid steel flows out of the laddle into the tundish and then into
a water cooled mold . Solidification begins in the mold . The Continuous billets Coming out

03 HOT ROLLING MILLS
Reheating furnaces are used in hot rolling mills to heat the steel stock (Billets, blooms or
slabs) to the rolling temperatures of around 1200 deg C which is suitable for plastic
deformation of steel and hence for rolling in the mill.
Re-Heating Furnace
Hot rolling is a metalworking process in which metal is heated above the recrystallization
temperature to plastically deform it in the working or rolling operation. This process is
used to create shapes with the desired geometrical dimensions and material properties
while maintaining the same volume of metal.
Rolling Mills
Tempcore process is one of the thermo-mechanical processes which was developed in
early 1970s at Liege Belgium to produce high yield strength weldable rebars from mild
steel billets without impairing their ductility and without the addition of micro-alloying
elements.
Tempcore (TMT)
A cooling bed is part of a rolling mill, at the end of the rolling mill that supports and
permits the hot rolled products from the hot mill to cool hot rolled and cast steel
products.

Universal Testing Machine is designed for testing metals and other materials under
tension, compression, bending, transverse and shear loads. Hardness test on metals can
also be conducted.
Universal Testing Machine
Bar bundling machine is a kind of automatic packaging equipment which is mechanically,
electrically, and hydraulically integrated. It is specially used for finished products
collection of rolling mill.
Bundling Area
Deformed Steel bars are rods of steels provided with lugs, ribs or deformation on the
surface of bar, these bars minimize slippage in concrete and increases the bond between
the two materials. Deformed bars have more tensile stresses than that of mild steel plain
bars. These bars can be used without end hooks. The deformation should be spaced
along the bar at substantially uniform distances.

This is not the end.
It is not even the beginning of the end.
But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.
