SENTENCES STRUCTURE

AFFIRMATIVE FORM[ subject + verb in the simple past +

complement ]

I watched TV yesterday.

She studied a lot for the test.

We went to Italy in our vacation.

NEGATIVE FORMUse the auxiliary DIDN´T (DID NOT)

and the verb in the base form.

I didn´t watch TV yesterday. (aux.) ( base form verb )

She didn´t study a lot for the test.

We didn´t go to Italy on our last vacation.

NEGATIVE FORMATTENTION: Do never use the auxiliary did

or didn´t and the verb in the simple past like in the examples:

I didn´t watched TV yesterday. (aux.) (simple past)

She didn´t studied a lot for the test.

We didn´t went to Italy on our last vacation.

INTERROGATIVE FORMPlace the auxiliary DID in the

beginning of the sentence and use the verb in the base form.

Did you watch TV yesterday? (auxiliary) (base form verb )

Did she study a lot for the test?

Did they go to Italy on their vacation?

INTERROGATIVE FORMATTENTION: Do never use the

auxiliary did or didn´t and the verb in the simple past like in the examples:

QUESTIONS WORDS• The same rules for interrogative sentences apply.
