Simplifying Expressions Review
When you are asked to simplify an expression we are looking for you to be able to: Combine like terms…pieces of a
mathematical expression which are exactly the same.
And then re-write and equivalent expression in “simplest form.”
Simplify the expression:2x + x2 – 3 + 3x – 3x2 – 1
Drawing:

Create and Remove any Zero Pairs! And then write the write the expression in simplest form.
Expression in Simplest Form:5x – 2x2 – 4
Practice writing some expressions in simplest form. After you finish each question raise your hand so your teacher can check your solution.
Solving Multi-Step Equations Review
When you are asked to solve an equation we are looking for you to be able to: Combine like terms (if necessary) Then find the solution by isolating the
variable: First eliminate any units by adding or
subtracting Then multiply or divide to find the value of
one variable.
Solve the equation below:

Writing Multi-Step Equations Review
When you are asked to write an equation we are looking for you to be able to: Use the given in the problem situation to
create an equation. Then use your equation solving skills to
find the solution to the problem situation.
Seth’s age is 7, which is 3 more than half of Regina’s age. How old is Regina?
Verbal Model: Define the variable(s):x = Regina’s age
3 72
x
Regina = Seth+ 3
2Mathematical Representation (as an equation):
Solve this equation with your teammates…raise your
hand when you are done.
