Interior design makes the world we live in beautiful.

A good design can change a space giving it balance,

texture and color. Sometimes help is needed when

decorating a space so it’s important to specify what your

goals are and get the right person for the job.

Interior designers and decorators are not the same. A

decorator is usually hired to help select fabric, furniture

and finishes but a certification is not required. An interior

designer is trained to draw plans for space remodels

and renovations as well as select fabric, furniture and

finishes. They have a degree and certification in Interior

Design. Architects work with interior designers to create

floor plans and build story boards with interior element

options.

With more consumer awareness, the industry has

higher expectations for the designer’s over-all skill

set. In today’s market, some of the best designers are

affiliated with a furniture line or store requiring that they

understand inventory and top sellers.

ADAC puts this all together for the consumer. Whether

you are looking for an interior designer, architect, builder

or specifier they can bring your vision to life.

ADAC has made an environment where luxury and

quality are at your fingertips. You can explore on your

own or connect with top designers and the showrooms

to create a space that’s inspiring and uniquely yours.

Located in the prestigious Buckhead community of

Atlanta, ADAC was created in 1961 by visionary architect

and developer John Portman. Today it consists of ADAC

and ADAC West with more than 550,000 square feet of

the Southeast’s largest collection of luxury furnishings

for residential, hospitality and contract projects.

ADAC is your design destination. You are invited to shop

in more than 50 stunning showrooms, visit the design

studios, explore the property for inspiration, attend

signature events and dine in one of the two fabulous

restaurants.

Nothing can give a house an updated exterior look faster

than a new color on the shutters. These easy steps will

show you how it’s done.

The first thing you need to do is a gentle power

wash to remove dirt and mildew. Let the shutters

dry completely. After the shutters are dry, place brown

or white heavy-duty work paper behind the shutters

protecting the siding from filler, primer and paint

2Step two is filling cracks and repairing chips with

epoxy wood filler. Follow the directions on the

package and wear safety glasses and a mask. Let dry

completely.

Step three is the sanding. If you don’t have an

electric sander, sanding blocks come in all grades

from heavy to fine. Start with a heavy grade to remove

larger pieces of filler and finer grades to smooth the

surface.

Step four is the primer. Primer is the base coat which

protects the shutter and allows the paint to apply

smoothly with fewer streaks. Latex primer is effective and

easy to clean with hot water. Use synthetic bristle paint

brushes, a two inch straight cut brush for the slats and

an angle cut brush for the corners. Let the primer dry

completely and remember, primer is a must.

Finally, step five is the color. Use exterior gloss, latex

paint. Be sure to use a color that will best accent the

color on your siding.

It’s important to use all safety precautions for home

improvement projects. Take your time and be prepared.

What is your name and title?Brian Ledford and I am the owner and project manager for TLBL Solutions.

What is your area of expertise?I find I’m best on the management side of a project because I easily connect with people.

How long have you been in business?I started in the remodeling industry about 6 yearsago. I have learned that managing a crew with experience is best so I only use teams with at least 10 years in the business.

Who is your greatest influence? My father has been my greatest influence. He worked as a regional manager for IBM for over 30 years. His work ethic is reflected in me. He is indeed my hero.

From where do you gather inspiration? My faith in God. I am blessed with a beautiful wife and children so doing good work provides for my family and honors our heavenly father.

What experiences in business lead you to your current position?I’ve worked with a variety of larger designs firms and remodeling companies that have lacked the personal touch I believe to be important. I wanted to open a remodeling company that offered that personal connection. I think you get a better result when you understand the clients true needs.

What is your most popular design or product? We are very versatile, but creating a custom design for the space allows our customers to see what they are getting.

Do you have one or two favorite design tips for our Readers? My best advice for anyone thinking about a remodeling project is to check out the contractor. Make sure you get referrals. Call the referrals as ask how the work was performed. That is the best way to guard against the crooks.

How does a reader contact you for a business consultation? If you would like a free consultation, please call, text or email us. [email protected] – 404-518-9120

What is your name and title? Will Encke, Designer/Owner

What is your area of expertise? High-end homes, “Out of the box” designs and concepts.; Stretching the dollar, taking standard material and reworking it to look custom. Making it look much more expensive then it really was.

How long have you been in business?Designing kitchens for 10 years, been in business for 3.

Who is your greatest influence? My wife, 3 boys and Mother. My business partner Tony Brown.

From where do you gather inspiration? From the client themselves. We are inspired by how people use their kitchens and space. (For example) If their house is traditional and they have lots of kids then the kitchen could be “Country French” with a lot of pantry space. We use the client as the inspiration for the project. Trade shows also help. A recent trade show in Vegas I attended gave us a few new ideas.

What experiences in business lead you to your current position?Having the opportunity to work with

savvy business owners. Being able to do projects for NBA players, MLB players and politicians.

Is there one thing in particular that sets you apart from others in your industry?Being able to make any budget look much more then it is. High end results without a high end price

What is your most popular design or product? One of the companies we own is Bella Cabinetry. We have our own line which makes it much easier to get the right product for each project. This year’s most popular kitchen combos have been White shaker with a Gray shaker island and off white (cream) shaker with a simple raised panel espresso island.

Do you have one or two favorite design tips for our Readers? When designing your kitchen try to have at least one area that is elevated higher then the rest. If a cabinet on one end of the kitchen or in the corner of two walls is taller, then it adds depth to the overall look. Everything does not have to be the “centerpiece”. Less is more. If the back splash tile is bright or busy, then go with toned-down countertops. If the selection of the countertop is a high-end level with lots of movement then a simple tile back splash of the right color will complement nicely.

Whether you’re looking for something out of

the ordinary or a missing piece of your favorite

collection, we have a new concept in antique

shopping on Canton Road in Marietta, The Auction

and Antique Mall. It offers the luxury of shopping

at an antique mall with the thrill of an auction.

Dwayne Bramlett, the owner of the Auction and

Antique Mall, has always loved the excitement and

atmosphere of a live auction. He combined the idea

of having an auction and an antique mall together

hoping to provide full service to both the buyer and

the seller of fine antiques and collectables.

Five years ago, Dwayne bought the Auction House

in Kennesaw and took it to a new level. The Auction

grew so quickly that he had to find a new location

so they moved from Kennesaw to Marietta in

the “Big Lots” shopping center across the street

from “Old Time Pottery” on Canton Road. The

merchandise is staged beautifully so you can easily

move from vendor to vendor. The Auction House is

located in the back of the Antique Mall with just as

much room if not more and the auction pieces are

displayed so auction participants can easy view the

merchandise.

The Auction and Antique Mall has a very friendly

atmosphere. His staff offers exceptional customer

service and knowledge about the products.

When it comes to the auction, Dwayne, a licensed

Auctioneer, has created an unintimidating “go with

the flow” environment. They help people purchase

and liquidate merchandise from all over and the

variety is grand due to people calling daily to do

business.

There are over forty venders in the Antique Mall

and auctions are held the 1st and 3rd Friday of each

month at 6:00 pm. They also hold three specialty

auctions yearly. Check with the staff for schedules.

So, stop by this weekend and find what you’ve been

looking for.

hello! I’m Alicia Ellenburg, owner of Absolute

Paradise Travel and Travel Consultant for SDSCMagazine. I’m really looking forward to summer. The soft touch of spring breezes and the heat from the summer sun. This is the time of year that my family and I start planning our adventure.

Summer is beach time and I have been to several all-inclusive resorts so let me tell you about a few of them. There are so many benefits in an all-inclusive. Once you’re there you don’t have to worry about anything other than having a wonderful, restful and exciting time in a beautiful Oasis. Everything you could possibly want is at your fingertips. All your beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, meals, entertainment are included. You name it and they’ve thought of it.

There are so many breathtaking islands. The Bahamas, Aruba, St. Martin, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Cozumel, just to name a few.

Each resort offers different amenities. Sandals Resorts are best known for total all-inclusive. Everything on the property is pretty much for you to enjoy. If you’re in the

mood for romance try one of the couple’s resorts. There are endless resort opportunities to spoil yourself. You know you deserve it!

Enjoy a moonlit dinner followed by a long walk on the beach or an exciting evening of entertainment. After a good-nights rest you can go to any of the restaurants on the property for breakfast and then take a dip in one of the gorgeous pools. The excursions are plenty. You can also leave the resort area and take in the history of the islands.

Summer vacations should be paradise so make it your own at an all-inclusive island resort.

Remember PARADISE AWAITS!!!

cauliflowerRICED

Cauliflower is amazing. This ivory colored, cloud on a stalk vegetable has changed cooking for the individual in pursuit of a gluten free lifestyle. It can replace so many recipes known for their high in processed flour content. When cooking with cauliflower you often find the recipe will call for riced cauliflower. “Ricing” is a technique used to prepare the cauliflower vegetable. Once it has been riced, it can replace flour, potato’s and even… rice. Here is a quick lesson on the best way to “rice” your cauliflower.

What you will need:•A food processor or a hand-held food chopper. If you don’t have one of these tools, a cheese grater with small holes will work just fine. It will take a little longer, but it will do the job.•Cheese cloth or a super fine linen dish towel.•Cauliflower. I like to use frozen but some say fresh is better. Either will do.•One gallon size zip-lock bag.

If using a food processor, through about 4-6 cups of cauliflower, stalks and all, in the container and secure the lid. Start by pulsing in 2 to 3 second intervals 3 to 4 times. When it has a “rice like” consistency, it’s done. If you are using a chopper or cheese grater, use the stalks as well.

Once you have riced, you will find the cauliflower is wet, so you must remove the water. I like to place about 2 cups at a time onto a double layer of cheese cloth. Pull the cheese cloth together and ring it tight over the sink removing the water. Dump the riced cauliflower from the towel into a one gallon size zip-lock bag. Repeat the water removal process in two cup intervals dumping it all into the same gallon size bag. Seal the bag and place in the refrigerator. Now you are ready when a recipe calls for Riced Cauliflower.

MARY JANE JAVA: THE ULTIMATE IN NITRO COLD BREW

Introducing Mary Jane CBD infused, nitro cold brew coffee. The makers of Mary Jane Java discovered that coffee was a great way to incorporate the medicinal benefits of Cannabidiol (CBD). CBD is emerging as a super supplement with extreme anti-inflammatory properties. This powerful anti-oxidant is a great dietary addition for anyone wanting to boost a natural regime for fighting inflammation.

Mary Jane Java’s berries are picked from the Sumatran region of Indonesia and roasted into the perfect bean. The beans are then ground and mixed with purified water and set for 36-48 hours in a refrigerated cooler. Once the coffee is cold brewed, it is then strained through a paper filtering system and CBD oil is combined with the coffee. The infused coffee is then poured into an N2O (Nitro) container which causes pressurized dispensing, hence creating the perfect cup of nitro cold brewed coffee with 7 mg of CBD. This ready to drink coffee is pre-packaged in unique 6.3 oz. containers. It can be stored in your home refrigerator for a grab and go jolt or used as an ingredient in baked deserts or cold coffee drinks.

If you would like to see for yourself what theMary Jane Java buzz is all about, visit the JAVA SMACKwebsite and order some for yourself. You’ll be so gladyou did. www.javasmack.com

Top with mini chocolate chips and a sprinkling of powdered sugar.10. Cover cake and allow to set in refrigerator for 2-3 hours. Cake should keep for 4-5 days.

NOTE: Do consider straining the ricotta before using, especially if it's a particularly watery brand. Also, when mixing together the ricotta and mascarpone cheese, DO NOT over mix it. If mascarpone cheese is over mixed, it becomes very thin.

"I was so honored and super excited to be invited to the 14th Annual Hospitality Education Foundation of Georgia (“HEFG”) Expo on February 2nd. It was held at the Georgia International Convention Center. I was featured at 10:30am. Let 'em play! That's the lesson I took away from my experience teaching the culinary arts

students. They came from far and near. These students were dynamos, eager to engage and innovate. They wanted to be as hands-on as possible and they weren't shy about asking questions. I absolutely enjoyed my time with the culinary arts students, and I learnt a lot along the way! Feeling so humbled to be a part of shaping the students’ future with real world experiences which will develop the best members for our industry and the community. HEFG is dedicated to providing direct support for the education of hospitality and food service students. #OleaOlivaUSA, #OleaOliva, #youth, #culinarystudents, #lovewhatIdo, #feelingblessed, #cleaneating, #plantbased, #HEFG"
