As we approach a New Year, we all are mindful of the sufferingand loss caused by this terrible virus and its broader impact onour society. We approach these High Holy Days, then, with arenewed focus on counting the blessings in our lives and on giving thanks to God, to our nation’s essential workers, and toall who bring joy to our hearts. We approach these Days of Awemindful as well of our mission to pursue justice, to act with kindness, and to walk humbly with our Creator.

This year, to protect the lives of the vulnerable among us and tocombat the virus’s spread, we are called upon to simplify lifeand to focus on that which is most important. The experiences inwhich we will share online and in person as a synagogue familyto mark this season are designed to do just that. We rememberthat the prophet Isaiah experienced God’s presence not in thegrand and the majestic, but rather in God’s “still, small voice.”We invite you to walk this unprecedented path together alongside us, with gratitude, humility, and in friendship, as weseek to hearken once again to God’s still, small voice.
