Breyton Poole of South Africa improved on this personal best three times to win the world U18 title at the IAAF World U18 Championships Nairobi 2017. The 1.72m jumper cleared a massive 2.24m to take home the title!

The World Para Athletics Championships London 2017 concludes today. To do these amazing athletes justice, we will be doing a feature next week with a summary of the results and an explanation of the classifications.

Maksim Nedasekau of Belarus broke the 40 year old European Athletics U20 Championships record with a 2.33m clearance. His jump wass the best by an U20 since 1992. Dmytro Niktin of Ukraine and Tom Gale of Great Britain finished second and third respectively with personal bests of 2.28m. Watch that 2.33m jump here.

Women High Jump Gold: Michaela Hruba (CZE) – 1.93m Silver: Karina Taranda (BLR) – 1.87m Bronze: Maja Nilsson (SWE) – 1.85m

Mariya Lasitskene cleared 2.05m at the Monaco IAAF Diamond League to set a new meet record. Yuliaya Levchenko jumped another new personal best of 1.97m to finish behind Lasitskene. Aries Merritt is no stranger to clearing hurdles

both on and off the track. He holds the world

record for 110m hurdles (12.80s) and was the 2012

Olympic Champion. Merritt underwent kidney

transplant in 2015, just days after winning a

bronze at the 2015 World Championships. The

world record holder is back on track, having made

the finals of the 2017 World Championships in the

very stadium he was crowned Olympic champion.

Maria Lasitskene defended her high jump title with a leap of 2.03m, extending her winning streak to 25. Yulia Levchenko finished second with a personal best of 2.01m, and Kamila Licwinko took home the bronze with a 1.99m effort. Video

Mutaz Essa Barshim flew high on the final night of the competition to take home the gold with a first-time clearance at 2.35m. Silver went to Danil Lysenko, and bronze to Majd Eddin Ghazal. Video

The 2019 World Championships will be held in Doha, Qatar, the perfect venue for Barshim to defend his title.
