The Singapore QP comprises three main components:

• Academic Base• Professional Programme• Practical Experience

Launched in June 2013, the Singapore QP is a postgraduate qualification pathway towards the Chartered Accountant of Singapore professional designation.

Steps to taking the Singapore QP

ATOs are organisations that are accredited by the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC) to provide the Practical Experience component of the Singapore QP. ATOs can be listed companies, public accounting entities, banks, government ministries & statutory boards, charities, universities etc.

Over 100 organisations and firms have been accredited as ATOs.

Individuals with Accredited Degrees can enter directly into the Professional Programme while individuals without an Accredited Degree will be required to complete the Foundation Programme before embarking on the Professional Programme.

The Singapore QP admits graduates of all disciplines.

After you have signed a Training Agreement with an Accredited Training Organisation, you can prepare your certificates and documents for entry into the Singapore QP. The documents are to be sent to the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), the administrator for the Singapore QP.

The Singapore QP is designed with key elements of robust admission criteria and mandatory structured practical experience. As such, its very existence and mission is to help you open doors to a global network of opportunities.

Various reciprocity agreements that are being explored with leading professional accountancy bodies around the world will place you in the forefront of the business landscape when you choose to hone your expertise overseas.

The Singapore QP is comparable to other professional accountancy qualifications offered by leading professional accountancy bodies in significant capital markets such as Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.

The components of the Singapore QP framework are compliant with the International Education Standards issued by the International Accounting Education Standards Board of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Asian Market Value

The “Asian Market Value Factor” sets the Singapore QP apart from other global professional programmes. The Singapore QP incorporates the professional accountancy requirements of Asia Pacific and takes into account the diverse socio-economic and regulatory profiles of the countries in the region.

Accredited Training Organisations

Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs) play an integral role in the Singapore QP. They provide training and development opportunities for Singapore QP Candidates to hone their competences and gain valuable practical experience in a professional environment. In order to hire, train and develop Singapore QP Candidates, organisations must first be accredited by the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC).

There are over 100 accredited training organisations of various sizes and from different industries.

Singapore QP Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 3 years (450 days) of Practical Experience and a minimum of 5 days (40 hours) of pro bono work. The Practical Experience must be of a financial or business nature and conducted under the guidance of an Approved Mentor.

In addition, Candidates will need to demonstrate that they are competent in 9 elements of generic competences and in 4 of the 15 elements of technical competences. Both your time and achievement of the competences will be recorded in your Record of Practical Experience (RPEC).
