The Singhalila Trek Sikkim Route 9th to 16th November, 2013
Trek Introduction
This trek covers the higher reaches of the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary in the West Sikkim, which is famous for its flowers, and spectacular mountain views of Kanchenjunga and Everest. The views are complimented with camping in dense Oak forest amidst the calls of barking deer and wild birds. In Barsey one passes through dense thickets of Rhododendrons below the Tal mountain ridge laden with conifer forest of silver fir and hemlock. The trek winds its way through the source of two rivers, which originate from moist grassy meadows. After Thulo Dhaap the trail climbs up to the Singalila Ridge and from Phokety one can experience the sunrise on Everest and Kanchenjunga, the highest and third highest peaks in the world.
