A substance that could cause cancer has been found in some ranitidine heartburn and ulcer medicines, including the brand-name drug Zantac, and the source of this contamination is being investigated, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says. While preliminary tests found low levels of the nitrosamine impurity N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in some ranitidine products, the FDA said this does not mean patients taking the drugs should stop using them now. NDMA is the same contaminant found in many brands of blood pressure and heart failure medicines during the past year, leading to recalls. Patients who are taking prescription ranitidine and want to stop using it should discuss alternatives with their health care provider, the FDA advised. Those taking over-the-counter (OTC) ranitidine could switch to other OTC medicines.Reference: https://www.fda.gov

Oral lichen planus is an autoimmune condition that is chronic inflammatory in nature. The name lichen comes from a plant that grows mostly on rocks and has a mossy, web-like appearance. Oral lichen planus appears like red and white lacy patches or opens sore, which cause a burning sensation and pain. The condition causes swelling, irritation, and redness, primarily in the mucous membranes inside the mouth. People suffering from this disease also have difficulty in eating and swallowing their food. Lichen planus is a type of skin disease and is not only limited to the mouth but can also occur in different body parts like hair, nails, ears and even the genital parts. Homeopathy claims to have a treatment for the ailment. Basically, 2 per cent of the entire population of the world is affected by this condition. This disease is usual in people of all age groups but is common in women above the age of 40. However, the reason why women are mostly affected by this disorder is still unknown and various researches are underway to find out the cause.Reference: https://www.healthline.com

Prescribers should be alert for neuropsychiatric reactions in patients taking montelukast and carefully consider the benefits and risks of continuing treatment if they occur. A range of neuropsychiatric reactions has been reported in association with montelukast. Among these are: sleep disturbances, depression and agitation (may affect up to 1 in 100 people taking montelukast); disturbances of attention or memory (up to 1 in 1,000 people); and very rarely, hallucinations and suicidal behaviour (up to 1 in 10,000 people).Reference: https://www.gov.uk

There are many types of honey and all of them contain enzymes and nutrients that have a variety of health benefits. Honey has been used for medicinal purposes throughout history. It works as a natural sweetener, helps in soothing sore throat and works as an immunity booster. The taste, colour and exact nutrient of different types of honey depends on where the bees collect it from. It also depends on the type of flowers honey from. White honey has milder flavour as compared to darker honey. Flowers that produce white honey include, sage. Alfalfa, fireweed and white clover.Despite the name, white honey isn't exactly white in colour. But it's lighter in colour than traditional honey. There is another form of white honey called kiawe honey, which is a rare one. It comes from the kiawe trees in Hawaii. This honey is collected as a liquid and it
naturally crystallizes to a smooth, creamy texture, which makes it perfect for spreading on bread or cakes. This white kiawe honey is sold as raw honey.White honey provides you with more than just calories. It has vitamins and minerals including B vitamins, copper, calcium, potassium, phosphorus and zinc. It also a powerhouse of antioxidants. The antioxidants in white honey protect your body against multiple diseases. It improves your gut health and thus supports digestion. It also acts as a cold suppressant and helps in relieving pain.Reference: https://www.healthline.com
