Dear Sister MacNamara Families: It is hard to believe that December has already arrived and we have completed the first term of the school year. The school is a hub of activity with preparation for the holiday season and continued learning activities. We wish to thank all of our families for your support and cooperation during this first term in following the safety protocols and procedures. One of these safety protocols is to ensure all families remain 2 meters apart when dropping off or picking up your children. Please wait over by the picnic table area and not by the back doors. Let your child go into line with their teacher and pick them up from there. We want to make sure the teacher has seen who is picking up your child. As the temperatures are getting colder, please do not send your children to school before 8:50 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. We would like to remind families of winter safety at this time of year. Please ensure your children stay away from any waterways as the ice may still be very thin in these areas. It is also, important to ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Students go outside for recess and sometimes during Phys. Ed classes. If you need support in this area, please let us know. We do have a limited supply of mitts for children to use if needed. We would like to welcome Dana Chase, our new Clerk 2, to the office staff at Sister MacNamara. She will become a familiar voice on the phone to help you with many matters. We would also like to thank all our patrols, Adult Crossing Guards and supervising teachers for their hard work in keeping our students safe while crossing the busy streets when they are on their way to and from school. They are out on their posts regardless of the weather. It helps when families are good role models and cross these busy streets at the appropriate crosswalks. It is so important for everyone to follow the safety directions from our patrols and Adult Crossing Guards. We thank you all for your support. It was wonderful to see so many parents and guardians able to meet by phone for our Parent Teacher Conferences. These meetings are very important in helping home and school work together. If you did not have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher by phone, please call and we will be happy to set up a time for you to meet with them. With the holiday season coming, we traditionally have a wonderful concert for all families to enjoy. Unfortunately, this year, due to the Covid 19 restrictions, we are unable to enjoy this school celebration all together. We will however, have each class perform either a poem or dance to highlight the season. This will be recorded and posted to your child’s classroom platform, either SeeSaw or Google Classroom. Please watch for information from your child’s teacher. The last day of school before the Winter Break is Friday, December 18 th and students return to school on Monday, January 4 th . All our staff extend our very best wishes for a safe, healthy and peace filled holiday season. Our wish… That we all find peace in our hearts which will bring peace to our families That with peace in our families we will create peace in our community That with peace in our community we will have peace in our nation That with peace in our nation there will be peace in our world. LUNCH PROGRAM NEWS

It has been a very busy start to our 2020-2021 school year and the lunch program spots are filled in many classrooms. We have to limit the number of spots to 15

per grade level. Just a few reminders: Fees are due promptly on the first of each month. $30.00 for the first child and $20.00 for

each additional child. Milk is an additional $5.00 per month per child. If you have outstanding fees at the end of this school term, December 18th, your child will

not have a spot in the Lunch Program as of January 4th, the first day back to school.

We expect all students attending the Lunch Program to demonstrate appropriate school behaviour, following the schools' behaviour expectations and wearing their face masks when not eating. If your child has any behavioural concerns during the Lunch Program,

you will be notified by either a phone call or letter. A big thank you to the staff of the Lunch Program for all their hard work over this first term. Ms. Tapawan—Lunch Program Coordinator Ms. Williams – Vice Principal

Lunch Program Behaviour Expectations

• Keep your hands and feet to yourself at all times • Use kind words to solve problems • Ask a grown up for help

If students do not follow the behaviour expectations,

a letter regarding the behaviour will be sent home.

If there are three behaviour incidents, your child will lose their spot in the Lunch Program. Please ensure you review the behaviour

expectations with your child/children.

SAFE ARRIVAL

Dear Parents/Guardians,

At Winnipeg School Division, one of our greatest priories is ensuring that all our students

arrive safely at school each and every day.

To enhance our exisng absence-checking procedure, we are introducing a new, more efficient

student absence reporng system called Safe Arrival. This new system will reduce the me it

takes to verify student a'endance, make it easy for you to report your child’s absence and easy

for staff to respond to unexplained student absences.

With Safe Arrival, you are asked to report your child’s absence in advance using any of these 3

convenient methods:

Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple

App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at h'ps://go.schoolmessenger.ca).

The first me you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select A'endance

then Report an Absence.

Use the Safe Arrival website, h'ps://go.schoolmessenger.ca. The first me you use the

website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select A'endance then Report an

Absence.

Call the toll-free number 1-855-278-4513 to report an absence using the automated phone

system.

These opons are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at

any me.

Starng Monday, September 21, 2020, please report absences in advance using Safe

Arrival instead of sending notes or calling/emailing the school.

Starng Monday, September 21, 2020 staff will be using the Safe Arrival noficaons to

let you know if your student is absent (when you haven’t reported the absence in advance).

If you have children a'ending other schools, please connue to report absences using

the exisng procedures for those schools.

Thank you for your paence and cooperaon as we implement this new system.
