information learnt from site analysis

From our careful analysis of the site certain patterns have emerged and became clear through comparison of our mappings.

In particular, that of circulation between the key buildings the MSD and Union House. The majority of movement occurs across the concrete lawn at times between classes and at midday, during the no-work period of 12 - 1pm. Circulation on the north and south edges of the site remains fairly consistentthroughout the day as they serve as convenient thoroughfares from each corner threshold to another.

Climate also determines the way in which the site is occupied as people seem to gather in greater numbers in areas that are cooler, as shown by comparing our ‘temperature’ and ‘intensities’ mappings.

Our ‘use’ diagram shows that eating and socialising are the activities most prominently participated in at the site. However, whilst socialising remains more consistent thoroughout the day during university hours, eating takes a specific peak during the times of 11am - 1pm.
