Site Criteria for an Airport Development

In developing an airport, there are factors to be considered in order to execute the

development properly and without harming the environment to where it is built. The site

selection are determined by these factors:

Site Data Implications of the data

    Environmental Factors

    (ydrology, waste

    management!

The waste disposal in an airport such as would greatly affect the

environment in the airport. The structure should have its own way of

managing the waste disposal. "lso the site planning should be able to

manage the pollution. Treatment facilities should be provided in the

    site.

It would affect the performance of the airplanes. &ands surrounding

the site would have an effect to the wind circulation.

If the site is a mountainous region, wind analysis is greatly considered

as the wind pattern contain dangerous downdrafts of rotor waves that

    can cause turbulence on planes

Terrain and 'oil The 'oil should be sturdy, enough to build foundations for the airport.

It should be capable of supporting heavy loads without shifting or

    sining.

The bedroc should be able to support the heavy e)uipment and

    airplanes in runways

'hould not be susceptible to erosion and earth)uae

business establishments due to the noise done by the

    airplanes

-bstructions should be away from the runway

usiness establishments such as hotels, factories are near

airports for the guests and also for cheaper transportation in

    delivering raw materials for factories

The site should be within an urban area so that most

passengers will have less travel time

    /oads, Traffic and

    Transportation

The site should not be in line with the busy parts of the place

as it might cause traffic congestion
