Construction Asset Management
How well are my assets utilized? What is their productivity? Where are they? How can I manage my assets better?
How it works
GPS Hardware installed in machine or truck.
Position and event data is sent to central server using cell network (GPRS).
Data held on server is accessed via Trimble Construction Manager from any internet connected PC.
Benefit Summary
Centralize management
Improve asset productivity
Improve site safety
Reduce maintenance and fuel costs
Manage asset usage Assist with theft recovery

Trimble Construction Manager
Product Focus
Productivity Utilization and under utilization Understanding equipment costs and project
costs Understanding equipment operations from
your office Drilling down into project specific details eg –
cycle and load counts Monitoring planned maintenance Exception reporting (alerts) in real time
Utilization
Trimble Construction Manager provides three utilization calculations (all percentages):
All three values are presented in a “Utilization” report.
“Working Utilization” is used in a number of charts.
Running utilization = Run time / Expected hoursWorking utilization = Work time / Expected hours
Efficiency = Work time / Run time

Accurate “Work” and “Idle” Time
Trimble Construction Manager can calculate accurate “work time” and “idle time”:
1. GPS movement – mobile assets where movement is a good indicator of productivity, such as trucks and graders.
2. Sensor switch – assets where movement is not indicative of productivity, such as excavators, cranes.
3. Combination of both.

A Contractor Once Said …
“I want everyone who ventures onto any one of our jobsites at any stage of the process to be able to provide information to the rest of the organization so that we can all learn from their experience and understand what is going on”
“Through that process my organization will grow and develop new and advanced processes to better tackle issues before or as they arise”
The Trimble Connected Site
Workflows to meet the needs of the different customer groups within the contractor’s organization

Two-Way Data Topics
What is two-way data? Why two-way data? Project management Data management As-built information Support Training Questions & Answers
What is Two-Way Data?
A technology that enables the bi-directional transfer of data between an office and machines over a series of data links– Data files– Machine specific files– Machine diagnostic– Screen snaps/text message

Why Two-Way Data?
1. Does your site have frequent design changes?2. Do you need to get design changes to the machine immediately?3. Does it take you too long to update files on a machine (including drive
time)?4. Have you ever wondered if a machine has a specific design on their
card?5. Have you ever struggled with troubleshooting machine control
problems over the phone?6. Do you need to know if your machines are up and running?7. Have you ever wanted to ask a question to a machine operator who
does not have a cell phone?8. Have you ever needed a DTM to verify project progress?9. Do you want to be more productive with your time?
SITECH (WA) PTY LTD
Project Management
Verify Machine Locations On Site Putting grade in the office Two-way data allows the
supervisor to view the same information as the operator, including – machine location – Real-time status on site
This facilitates real-time decisions and allows them to know at all times that their machine is being productive
Send a Text Message to Machines
Two-way data allows safe and fast text-based communication between the office and the machine– Ideal for YES / NO questions
Eliminates time delays from phone calls
Allows direction of machines from within the office
SITECH (WA) PTY LTD
Data Management
Verify Data on a Machine
Confirm design files on a machine’s data card at any time
Upload new or revised design to all machines in one export
Eliminate cost– Machine downtime
– Drive time to the field
– Manpower
Verify Design in the Machine Troubleshoot designs in the
office Take a screen snap to see
problem area and locate on design
Locate problems faster
As-built Data Maintain daily progress
– Turn on terrain map recording
– Download recorded terrain (*.st) file from card
– Import into SiteVision Office
– Export to Excel CSV or Terramodel file
– Perform volume calculations
– Calculate area
SITECH (WA) PTY LTD
Support and Training
Confirm What Is on the Operator’s Screen Request a screen snap of the
Trimble display
Remote Diagnostics
View a screen snap of the operator’s display and the diagnostics– Version numbers– Serial numbers– Enabled options– Machine details– GPS status– Current offsets– Loaded design
Remote Diagnostics Retrieve radio diagnostic information
– IP statistics– CMR reception– Error logs– Temperature logs
Update Machine
Firmware updates can be uploaded to machine– Upload firmware to machine– Send a text message to operator to restart display– Display is flashed, machine comes back on-line
Restore machine settings– Machine settings lost– Copy MCH file to card– Send a text message to operator to restore machine settings
Retrieve program log.txt file for Trimble support
