Command Terminal This section provides an introduction to the command terminal, its functions and other facilities that it provides to make the system user friendly.
System Composition and Functions
ZXG10 iTCM network management system adopts the client/server architecture. The user can perform all maintenance and configuration operations through the client. After receiving operation request from the client, the server analyzes and executes the command and returns the results to the client. Commands can be executed using the terminal system of the client or by logging on to the server using standard TELNET tool.
All system operations can be performed using iTCM command terminal. Some of them are as follows:
Configuration Management
It can be used to add, modify, delete, query, back up and restore all the configuration data in ZXG10 iTCM.

It can be used to monitor and maintain the status of all the links and resources. It can also be used to block, test, unblock and reset all the resource.
Security Management
It can be used to query and configure all security related information e.g. users, roles, departments, sessions etc.
Diagnostics Test
It can be used to test all functions of the hardware board of the system. It is mainly used to detect the board during the daily maintenance and eliminate the fault board during the troubleshooting.
Command Terminal Interface
The command terminal interface is divided into five panes, as shown in Figure 5.

6 Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION
Command terminal provides an efficient help system in real time and prompts the user to input the correct command. The main functions are as follows:
Help function
When user inputs HELP command, the system displays detail help information about the command. This parameter is a command code or mnemonic symbol.
Error prompt function
For an incorrect command, this function gives detailed error information. It facilitates the user to locate the error quickly.
Auto prompt function
When inputting the command, user gets a prompt to input the corresponding parameters according to the command code.
Command aborting function
This function can be used to abort a command that is being executed.
Acknowledgement function
For some special commands, it is required to acknowledge the execution of the command. Server will execute the command if it is allowed by the user.
Transaction management function
By default, each command is a single transaction, which means that the command is submitted automatically after the execution. System also supports the non-auto submitting function which means that it is required to execute the COMMIT command after executing one or more commands.
Batch processing function
This function helps to process the files with many commands in batch.
Man Machine Commands
Man machine command begins with command code and ends with semicolon. Contents between command code and semicolons are parameters, as shown in Figure 6.

Chapter 1 Overview

Command code is sequence consist of four letters. First letter defines sub-functional areas of the command, and known as level 1 code. Second and third letters, known as level 2 codes, indicates object class that the command affects or influences. The last letter defines the command action to execute, and is called as level 3 code.
The command code PMJC, as shown in Figure 7, indicates creation of measurement job in performance management.
F I G U R E 7 CO M M AN D C O D E FO R M AT
Based on the above structure the command with level 1 code are classified as command category, and those with level 1 and 2 codes are as command group.
The Parameter part is made of one or more parameter block(s), as shown in Figure 8, all of which are parameter sequence with : as the start symbol and the parameters are separated by ,. Position of parameter block is interchangeable. Usually, only one parameter block specifies the operation object, which is the first part in the parameter part.
F I G U R E 8 PAR AM E T E R P AR T
Each parameter has three parts :< parameter name>=. Parameter name consists of eight letters and numbers with first character always letter.
For parameter value, all parameter falls in to four logic types, as shown in Table 4.

It is a special case of optional parameter group: when the parameter number of optional parameter group is 1, it is an optional parameter.
In addition mandatory parameters and one from multiple parameter groups can have default value and it is not necessary that user should input parameter.
For example: a parameter block : A{, B, C}[, D, E][, F] suggests that parameter A is an mandatory parameter, parameter B and C make up a one-from-multiple parameter group, parameter D and parameter E make up an optional parameter group; F is an optional parameter.
Note: Punctuation marks such as :, , and ; that appear in the man-machine commands of the OMCR (V2) system are all English characters.
Parameter Types
System defines 21 parameters; few of them are listed below:
Value of boolean data can be either T (TRUE) or F (False).
Numerical values can be classified in two types:
Integer type
Classified in to integers, in general sense (without containing any separator), and integer type parameters ARGUMENTS (separators like &, &&, -, &- and &&-) can appear in the parameter, having integers on both sides.
Floating type
Classified in to floating numbers, in general sense (without containing any separator), and floating type ARGUMENTS (separators & can appear in the parameter, having floating number on both sides).

Identifier type
Includes basic identifier type and identifier type PARAMETER ARGUMENT (separator & can appear in the parameter, having identifiers on both sides).
Note: Identifier is combination of letters and numbers but it must begin with a letter.
Includes enumerated type, in general sense (various enumerated items are separated with separator ,) and enumerator type PARAMETER ARGUMENT (& can appear in the parameter having enumerated type data on both sides).
Date type parameter format, is as follows: YYYY-MM-DD.
Includes secondorder time type (second order type parameter format: hh-mi-ss), and minute order time type (minute order time type format HH-MM).
Decimal floating number followed by suffix C.
Decimal floating number followed by suffix %.
Includes character string, which is a combination of characters included in double quotation marks, for example xxxx, and character string type PARAMETER ARGUMENT in which & can appear in the parameter having general character string on both sides.

In MSCS net elements, there are two module types, basic module types and subsidiary module types. Every module has at least one basic element type in it, but it is possible that it has no subsidiary module types. Basic module type includes OMP, RPU, SMP, VIG, SIP, MSCBASECMP, and IWG. Subsidiary module type includes IGW, LIC, GMSC, and VMSC.
Subsidiary module type is totally different than extended module type. In the input and output parameters, all "Basic Module

Type" except "MSCBASECMP" and all "Subsidiary Module Type" are generally named as "Module Type", while "Extend Module Type" only refers to "MSBASECMP". In one MGW net element, there are two modes for configuration with SMP and CMP. One module type is SMP&CMP and another is SMP or CMP. These modes are not correct for one MGW net element.
