Easily Price Skandia Shutters1. Choose a product – E100, SL200, SL300, LX400 or LX5002. For an inside mount shutter, measure the width and length inside thewindow opening; for an outside mount shutter, measure the width andlength of the finished size of the shutter. All frames and louver sizes arepriced the same. 3. Determine any specialties needed, such as hidden tilt bar, t-post, custompaint, French door cutouts, arch panels, double hung shutters, extensions,bi-fold and by-pass, etc. (see Retail Price Guide for specific charges on allspecialties)4. Calculate square footage of shutter needed, multiply by square footageprice, add specialty charges, and calculate shipping and handling fees. Addall these together for total dealer cost.

Below we will show how to calculate square footage and how to price ourshutters.

Example: Window measures 51 ¾" wide by 50" long Example: Square foot price of $14(We will show how to price without or with a specialty)

Multiply the width and the length in inches. Divide that figure by 144 toget the area in square feet.

51.75" x 50" = 2587.5" ÷144 = 17.968 square feetIf the 3rd number to the right of the decimal is 5 or greater, you wouldround up the second digit to the right of the decimal to the next highestnumeral –

17.97 square feet. Now determine your cost. Multiply your square footage by your squarefoot price.

17.97sqft x $14.00 = $251.58If you were to add a specialty to your shutter, like a hidden tilt bar(surcharge of $1.50 per square foot), you would first multiply the squarefootage by the surcharge for that item, then add that number to the shutterprice you have already calculated.

17.97sqft x $1.50 = $26.955 (round up to $26.96)$251.58 + $26.96 = $278.54

Some surcharges are a net price, either per window or per panel, insteadof per square foot. You would just add the net price to your shutter’s squarefoot price.

Shipping and handling for shutters is a minimum of $30 or a percentageof the invoiced amount, depending on your account terms. This costwould then be added to your shutter square foot cost and any specialtycosts to get your total dealer cost.

Without specialty $251.58 + $30.00 = $281.58 Total Dealer CostWith specialty $251.58 + $26.96 + $30 = $308.54 Total Dealer Cost

How to Replace a Lift Cord on a Horizontal BlindCords break for any number of reasons. But all is not lost. Believe it or not, this type of repair is actually simple. Follow along…

The best part of this repair procedure is that the blind is not removed fromthe window. Pretty cool, huh? Okay. But, first things first…

1. Call Customer Service to order replacement cord. You will be asked for thework order number of that particular blind. That number is inside of the headrail, if youdon’t have the original paperwork handy.Customer Service will reference this numberto determine how much cord is needed.

2. Don’t start pulling the broken cord or tas-sels yet. Take hold of the broken end of thecord that travels up into the headrail. Clipany excess fray from the end of the cord.

3. With the replacement cord in hand, takeone end and attach it to the broken end ofthe cord. How do you do that, you ask? There are two different ways to do this. Oneis to butt each end together and use a tinybit of masking tape to join the two. Theother way is a little more tricky but ingen-ious especially when there isn’t tape avail-able. Butt the two ends together with onehand and use your free hand to strike alighter. Carefully touch the flame to the twoends until you see a melting action begin.Douse the flame and quickly and carefullyroll the two ends back and forth togetherthus melding the two ends. This trick maytake you a few tries, but it does work.

4. With the two ends joined, you can nowpull on the corresponding cord that comesout of the headrail at the cord separator untilyou see the splice (tape or melt).

Okay. Top’s done. Let’s move to the bottom. You can basically repeat the process for thebottom half of the broken cord.

5. Remove the bottom rail plug.

6. Repeat step 3.

7. Pull the knotted end of the cord that isunder the bottom rail plug away from thebottom rail thus pulling the replacementcord through the ladder and through thebottom rail.

8. Knot the end of the cord and tuck intothe bottom rail along with the ladder ends.Replace bottom rail plug.

9. At the headrail, pull replacement cord taut enough to pull any slack fromthe ladder area. Measure where the tassel will go (even with the other tassel –or even with the other cords if joined together at a joiner ball). Knot cord.

Voila! Easy, huh?
