SKILLFUL IN PRAYER AND HEALING
All Christians pray, but all Christians are not effective or
skillful.
Skillful is to get your prayer answered “Yes” every time.
Ephesians 6:18
King James…Praying always with all prayer and supplica-
tion in the spirit and watching there unto with all persever-
ance and supplication for all the saints;
Goodspeed…Use every kind of prayer and entreaty, and at
every opportunity pray in the spirit. Be on alert about it; de-
vote yourself constantly to prayer.
Moff…with all manner of prayer and entreaty…
Plain Engl…with every kind of prayer and petition…
There are different kinds of prayer and different rules to use
each kind of prayer.
Carpenters have various tools that they use for different jobs.
Likewise, there are different kinds of prayer to use for differ-
ent problems or circumstances.
Luke 11:1
KJ…Lord, teach us to pray…
Knox…Lord, teach us how to pray.
Not one Christian can be what God intends for them to be
unless they are skillful, knowing which prayer to pray at any
given moment.
PRAYER IS JOINING FORCES WITH GOD TO CAR-
RY OUT HIS WILL HERE IN THE EARTH.
Each kind of prayer has different rules that must be obeyed.
7
Prayer is not a shot in the dark, or just talking, or begging
God for something.
It is as foolish to think that we can go to the North Pole with-
out a map and someway get there, as it is to think that we can
get answered prayer without knowing and applying the right
directions or rules.
There are rules that govern the operation of SUCCESSFUL
PRAYER.
BE SMART AND LEARN TO USE THE DIFFERENT
KINDS OF PRAYER.
Rule #1…”A MUST!”
Always know the will of God before you pray.
I John 5:14,15
KJ…And this is the confidence that we have in him, that if
we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. (15)
And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we
know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
BARC…The reason why we can approach God with com-
plete confidence is that if we ask for anything that is in ac-
cordance with his will. (15) If we know that he listens to us,
whenever we ask him for anything, we know that the things
for which we have asked him are already ours.
NEB…(15) And if we know that our requests are heard, we
know also that the things we ask for are ours.
N.BERK…(15) The request we ask of him are assured.
John 15:7
KJ…If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall
ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Abide- means – to live or be alive.
8
God’s will and God’s word are the same…or identical
It is always God’s will to keep His word.
THE PRAYER OF AGREEMENT
You don’t have to get everyone you know…or more people
to pray…to get an answer to your prayer.
Jesus said…”If two would agree when they prayed.”
Matthew 18:19
KJ…Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on
earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be
done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
CONTEMP.ENG…I promise that when any two of you on
earth agree about something you are praying for, my father,
in heaven will do it for you.
NEB…Again, I tell you this: if two of you agree on earth
about any request you have to make, that request will be
granted by my heavenly father. For where two or more have
met together in my name, I am there among them.
NOT ONE BELIEVING AND THE OTHER HOPING, OR
WISHING IT WILL HAPPEN.
Two people are agreeing it is done! “We have it now!”
It will be done for those who have agreed in prayer, not nec-
essarily for someone else (that’s another prayer for others).
Matthew 18:19
CONDON…Pray together with one voice.
AMP…agree (harmonize together)
CP…covenant together
Covenant Agreement never gives up on what they have
agreed to.
9
THE PRAYER OF BINDING AND LOOSING
Matthew 18:18
KJ…Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth
shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on
earth shall be loosed in heaven.
CP…I give you my word that whatever you bind in the phys-
ical realm shall have been bound in the spiritual realm, and
whatever you loose in the physical realm shall have been
loosed in the spiritual realm.
TNT…In truth I tell you, whatever you forbid on earth will
be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you allow on earth
will be allowed in heaven.
God gave man (Adam) authority here in the earth (Genesis
1:26). He lost it to satan.
Jesus defeated satan for us and gave man (us) back the au-
thority here on earth…NOW!
(Mark 16:15-18)
Christians, and people who are not scripturally taught, are
always complaining…”Why does God allow disasters to
happen?”
Jesus said, whatsoever we forbid – or – what will man allow,
whom God has given the authority, on earth.
II Corinthians 4:4
KJ…In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds
of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gos-
pel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto
them.
World…Greek…Kosmos…The world’s system.
10
James 4:7
KJ…(You) resist the devil and he will flee from you.
NOT PRAY GOD GET THE DEVIL OFF MY CASE.
Ephesians 4:27
KJ…Neither give place to the devil.
Most Christians think that the Lord permits disasters…
sickness…trouble…for some noble purpose. When in reality
it is up to us what is allowed, permitted, or forbidden.
GOD WILL ALLOW OR PERMIT ANYTHING THAT
YOU WILL ALLOW OR PERMIT. “ALSO,” HE WILL
NOT ALLOW OR PERMIT ANYTHING YOU WILL NOT
ALLOW OR PERMIT.
Ephesians 6:12
KJ…For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the dark-
ness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high plac-
es.
Luke 10:19
KJ…Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and
scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing
shall by any means hurt you.
We have God given authority over all the power of satan.
Mark 16 – Jesus gives us the power of attorney to use his
name.
11
POWER OF ATTORNEY: Gives us the legal right to use
Jesus’ name, in his place, in his stead, for him, as if he were
personally present…GO YE!
Philippians 2:9-10
KJ…Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given
him a name which is above every name: (10) That at the
name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven,
and things in earth, and things under the earth;
You have God-given authority to bind (forbid) or loose
(allow) here and now in the earth, and God and all His power
will back you up!
Matthew 28:18
KJ…And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, all power
is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
You must know what is backing up the name of Jesus and
your authority to use the name. This prayer refuses to back
down after they have bound or loosed in Jesus name.
THE PRAYER OF COMMITMENT
Psalm 37:5
KJ…Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and
he shall bring it to pass.
NEB…Commit your life to the Lord: trust in him and he will
act.
THIS IS THE PRAYER THAT SAYS MY LORD AND MY
MASTER, NOT MY WILL, BUT THY WILL BE DONE.
12
Luke 22:39-42
KJ…And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the
mount of olives; and his disciples also followed him. (40)
And when he was at the place, he said unto them, pray that
ye enter not into temptation. (41) And he was withdrawn
from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and
prayed. (42) Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this
cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
JESUS MADE A TOTAL COMMITMENT TO DO THE
WILL OF GOD NO MATTER THE PRICE.
Most unlearned Christians use the prayer that Jesus prayed in
the garden of Gethsemane as their model in prayer. They
add…if it be thy will to every prayer they pray.
The prayer of commitment is the only prayer that “if it be thy
will” is scripturally correct.
This prayer is total commitment to God’s will. It is total
submission to the Father’s will.
Example: “Dear Father” this day I dedicate, consecrate, sub-
mit and make a total commitment to do anything and every-
thing you want me to do.”
If it be thy will, I will go and do what you will for my life is
not my will but only yours.
I Peter 1:17
KJ…And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of
persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the
time of your sojourning here in fear.
13
Philippians 4:6
KJ…Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known unto God.
After you pray this prayer, trust your Father God to meet
every need, and guide you into his perfect will.
Psalm 37:5
KJ…Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and
he shall bring it to pass.
SMI…And he will act.
Also – if you do not commit and trust, he will not act or
bring it to pass.
IT’S GREAT TO BE IN THE WILL OF GOD.
Psalm 55:22
KJ…Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain
thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
THE PRAYER OF CASTING YOUR CARE UPON
THE LORD
Philippians 4:6
KJ…Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known unto God.
CP…Don’t fret about anything.
WUEST…Stop worrying about even one thing.
Worry and being anxious takes the problem, or your answer,
14
or victory…out of God’s hands.
Matthew 6:25,27
KJ…Therefore I say unto you, take no thought for your life,
what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your-
body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat,
and the body than raiment?
CP…Therefore, let me tell you all something: don’t worry
about making a living—what you’ll eat, what you’ll drink,
what you’ll wear. (27) Which of you by taking thought can
add one cubit unto his stature?
CP…Besides, who of you by fretting and fuming, can make
himself one inch taller?
Matthew 6:31
KJ…Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat?
Or, what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be
clothed?
PHI…So don’t worry and don’t keep saying, “What shall we
eat, what shall we drink or what shall we wear?”
WORRY IS UNBELIEF.
I Peter 5:8-9
KJ…Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may de-
vour: (9) Who resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the
same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in
the world.
Worry – cares - burdens – anxiety are some of satan’s best
ways of defeating well-meaning Christians.
I Peter 5:7
AMP…Casting the whole of your care, all your anxieties, all
15
your worries, all your concerns, once and for all on him, for
he cares for you affectionately, and care about you watchful-
ly.
Cast your care on the Lord once and for all, and don’t pick
the care back up.
When the thoughts of cares try to come back on you…resist
the thoughts of care in the name of Jesus.
James 4:7
KJ…You resist the devil and he will flee.
II Corinthians 10:4-5
KJ…(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but
mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (5)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that ex-
alteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
WADE…(5) We demolish opposing reasonings and all pre-
sumptions of unbelief…
ABV…(5) Demolish human theories that oppose the
knowledge of God…
Philippians 4:6-7
KJ…Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let you requests be made
known to God. (7) And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.
TNT…(7) Then God’s peace, which is more than we can ev-
er understand, will keep guard over your hearts and minds, in
your union with Christ Jesus.
WEY…(7) And the peace of God, which transcends all our
powers of thought, will be a garrison to guard your hearts
16
and minds in union with Christ Jesus.
Garrison – the army of God.
Thanksgiving and praise causes the peace of God to surround
your mind and thought life.
RULES OF THE PRAYER OF CASTING YOUR
CARE:
Cast your care once and for all and when the thought or care
tries to come back to your mind, start praising and thanking
God, he has taken care of the problem.
PRAISE GOD!
THE PRAYER OF WORSHIP AND PRAISE
Praise and worship are faith and trust and the highest type of
prayer.
Psalm 22:3
KJ…God inhabits the praises of his people.
Isaiah 40:28-31
KJ…Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the ev-
erlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth,
fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his
understanding. (29) He giveth power to the faint; and to them
that have no might he increaseth strength. (30) Even the
youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall ut-
terly fall: (31) But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew
their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they
shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not
faint.
Wait – to minister unto…honorary attendance…to bless…to
exalt…to magnify…to worship…to give thanks.
17
II Chronicles 5:11-14
KJ…And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of
the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were
sanctified, and did not then wait by course: (12) Also the Le-
vites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of
Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being
arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and
harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an
hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) (13) It
came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one,
to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the
Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets
and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord,
saying, for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that
then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the
Lord; (14) So that the priests could not stand to minister by
reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the
house of God.
GOD SHOWED UP WHEN PRAISE WENT UP!
II Chronicles 20:1-4,20-22
KJ…It came to pass after this also, that the children of Mo-
ab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside
the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
(2) Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying,
there cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the
sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar,
which is Engedi. (3) And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself
to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
(4) And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of
the Lord: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to
seek the Lord.
(20) And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into
the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat
18
stood and said, hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jeru-
salem; believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be estab-
lished; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. (21) And
when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers
unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness,
as they went out before the army, and to say, praise the Lord;
for his mercy endureth for ever. (22) And when they began
to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the
children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, which were
come against Judah; and they were smitten.
VICTORY CAME AFTER THEY BEGAN TO PRAISE
THE LORD!
Most Christians are doing enough praying. They need to
balance their prayer life with more praise and thanksgiving.
Hebrews 13:15
KJ…By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to
God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to
his name.
Acts 16:25
KJ…And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang prais-
es unto God; and the prisoners heard them.
Prayed “and “ sang praises unto God. “OUT LOUD!”
Romans 4:20
KJ…He staggered not at the promise of God through unbe-
lief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.
AMP…No unbelief or distrust made him waver or doubting-
ly question concerning the promise of God, but he grew
strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and
glory to God.
19
LB…But Abraham never doubted. He believed God, for his
faith and trust grew ever stronger, and he praised God for
this blessing even before it happened.
WEY…But became mighty in faith, giving glory to God…
WHEN ANSWER TO PRAYER SEEMS TO BE SLOW IN
COMING…START PRAISING AND THANKING GOD
FOR YOUR ANSWER. DON’T KEEP ASKING…
THAT’S UNBELIEF.
Praise shortens the wait and keep’s your expectancy high.
UNITED PRAYER
The rule to united prayer is: those involved in prayer must
be in one accord.
United prayer, or praying in one accord means total agree-
ment on the word…totally with one purpose…one in their
thinking…totally one in the expected results.
Acts 2:1-4
KJ…And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they
were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly
there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty
wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (3)
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire,
and it sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled
with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues,
as the spirit gave them utterance.
God always moves and answers prayer when people are in
agreement or one accord.
Acts 2:41-44
KJ…Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:
and the same day there were added unto them about three
20
thousand souls. (42) And they continued stedfastly in the
Apostles; doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread,
and in prayers. (43) And fear came upon every soul: and
many wonders and signs were done by the Apostles.
(44) And all that believed were together, and had all things
common;
AMP…(42) They devoted themselves constantly to the in-
struction and fellowship of the Apostles.
THEY WERE ONE IN BELIEVING THE WORD.
Acts 2:44
KJ…Had all things common.
GSPD…The believers all shared everything they had with
one another.
THEY HAD ONE PURPOSE…ONE CAUSE!
Acts 4:29-31
KJ…And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant
unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy
word, (30) By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that
signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy Holy
child Jesus. (31) And when they had prayed, the place was
shaken where they were assembled together; and they were
all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of
God with boldness.
“And when they had prayed”…united…out loud…one ac-
cord…one purpose.
Acts 5:12
KJ…And by the hands of the Apostles were many signs and
wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with
one accord in Solomon’s porch.
21
UNITED PRAYER MULTIPLIES THE ANOINTING
Acts 5:16
KJ…There came also a multitude out of the cities round
about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which
were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every
one.
ONE ACCORD…ACTING AS ONE MAN…BEING
UNITED BRINGS MIRACLES.
Acts 8:5-8
KJ…Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and
preached Christ unto them.
(6) And the people with one accord gave heed unto those
things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles
which he did. (7) For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice,
came out of many that were possessed with them: and many
taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. (8) And
there was great joy in that city.
UNITY BRINGS A MOVE OF GOD.
Acts 12:5
KJ…Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was
made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
This united prayer delivered Peter form certain death.
This prayer will get things done that no other prayer can do.
THE PRAYER OF ANOINTING WITH OIL
James 5:14-15
KJ…Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of
22
the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with
oil in the name of the Lord: (15) and the prayer of faith shall
save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he have
commited sins, they shall be forgiven him.
20C…(15) The prayer offered in faith.
This prayer – THE ANOINTING WITH OIL – is for those
who have not been able to receive on their own.
THE ELDERS HAVE RECEIVED THE AUTHORITY
FROM GOD TO ANOINT WITH OIL FOR THE SICK TO
RECEIVE THEIR HEALING.
The one who is being anointed with oil and prayed for, has
exercised their faith by calling.
Psalm 23:5
KJ…In the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my
head with oil…
The anointing – means to lift the burden and destroy the
yoke, or simply God ability on a man!
Sickness…disease…poverty…a loved one (family member)
that has strayed or in trouble is an enemy.
CALL – GET ANOINTED!
THE PRAYER OF FAITH
The prayer of faith is for you…those under your authority…
or can be offered for those young in the Lord…
Mark 11:24
KJ…Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have
23
them.
MOFF…So I tell you, whatever you pray for and ask, be-
lieve you have got it, and you shall have it.
AMP…To believe—trust and be confident—that it is granted
to you, and you will get it.
RIVER…Believe that you have obtained them and you will
have them.
What is Faith?
Faith is believing God’s word to the point, that the word of
God, is the only thing you will speak in line with, agree with,
and the only thing you will act on.
Hebrews 11:1
KJ…Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evi-
dence of things not seen.
KNOX…What is faith? It is that which gives substance to
our hopes, which convinces us of things we cannot see.
LB…”Faith” it is the certainty that what we hope for is wait-
ing for us…”
BIBLE HOPE – Is the promises God’s word says are ours
because of the redemptive work of Jesus.
The prayer of faith when offered up to God, our Father, be-
lieves that they have the answer when they say “Amen” to
the prayer.
The person praying the prayer of faith believes they have re-
ceived their healing, their needs met, their problem
solved…”before” they see it come to pass, or “before” they
feel healed or “before” they have the money to meet their
need.
FAITH “ALWAYS” KNOWS what the word of God (the
scriptures) are that cover what they are praying for.
24
Romans 3:27
KJ…Faith is a law!
Faith, when put into motion works every time, just like the
law of gravity, or the law that causes things to reproduce its’
own kind.
YOU ARE FULL OF THE GOD-KIND OF FAITH!
Ephesians 2:8
KJ…For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 3:12
KJ…In whom we have boldness and access with confidence
by the faith of him.
Romans 12:3
KJ…For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every
man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly
than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as
God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Galatians 2:20
KJ…I am crucified with Christ: Nevertheless I live; yet not
I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in
the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me,
and gave himself for me.
We all should become experts in praying the prayer of faith.

PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT (WITH TONGUES)
Acts 2:2-4
KJ…And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a
rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they
were sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven
tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4) And
they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak
with other tongues, as the spirit gave them utterance.
Tongues are the evidence of being baptized in the Holy
Ghost.
Acts 10:44-46
KJ…While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell
on all them which heard the word. (45) And they of the cir-
cumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came
with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out
the gift of the Holy Ghost. (46) For they heard them speak
with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Acts 19:6
KJ…And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy
Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and
prophesied.
Tongues are a supernatural means of prayer.
Praying in the Holy Ghost will build you up spiritually, and
bring revelation knowledge to your understanding.
Jude 20,21,23
KJ…But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most
26
holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. (21) Keep yourselves
in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus
Christ unto eternal life. (23) And others save with fear, pull-
ing them out of the fire, hating even the garment spotted by
the flesh.
Praying in tongues – praying in the Holy Ghost – will help
keep you in the love of God and help in keeping people from
going to hell.
I Corinthians 14:2
KJ…For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh
not unto men, but unto God; for no man understandeth him;
howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
I Corinthians 14:14-15
KJ…For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth,
but my understanding is unfruitful.
AMP…(14) For if I pray in an [unknown] tongue, my spirit
[by the Holy Spirit within me] prays, but my mind is unpro-
ductive – bears no fruit and helps nobody.
KJ…(15) What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I
will pray with the understanding also; I will sing with the
spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
AMP…(15) Then, what am I to do? I will pray with my
spirit – by the Holy Spirit that is within me; but I will also
pray intelligently – with my mind and understanding; I will
sing with my spirit –by the Holy Spirit that is within me; but
I will sing (intelligently) with my mind and understanding
also.
Paul mentions two kinds of praying.
Most Christians fall short in their prayer life because
they can only use praying out of their intellect (their
mind).
27
Ephesians 5:18-19
KJ…And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be
filled with the spirit; (19) speaking to yourselves in psalms
and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody
in your heart to the Lord.
Stay built up…filled with the Spirit.
HOW?
Speaking in tongues…quoting psalms…singing hymns that
are scripturally sound…praising God…giving thanks to our
big God!
THE PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
Intercession is going to our Father, in prayer, for others –
not ourselves.
Ezekiel 22:29-30
KJ…The people of the land have used oppression, and exer-
cised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: Yea,
they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. (30) And I
sought for a man among them, that should make up the
hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I
should not destroy it: but I found none.
RSV…(30) Stand in the breach before me.
God was looking for a man to intercede for the people.
Why have Christians backslid or not grown in the Lord as
they should?
28
ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS!
Isaiah 59:14-16
KJ…And judgment is turned away backward, and justice
standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity
cannot enter. (15) Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth
from evil maketh himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it
displeased him that there was no judgment. (16) And he saw
that there was no man, and wondered that there was no inter-
cessor; therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his
righteousness, it sustained him.
AMP…(16) And he saw that there was no man, and won-
dered that there was no intercessor [no one to intervene on
behalf of truth and right], therefore, his own arm brought him
victory, and his righteousness [having the spirit without
measure] sustained him.
Paul said about the young in the Lord…
Galatians 4:19
KJ…My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until
Christ be formed in you,
Travail or Intercede
Romans 8:27
KJ…And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the
mind of the spirit, because he maketh intercession for the
saints according to the will of God. (28) And we know that
all things work together for good to them that love God, to
them who are the called according to his purpose.
This is talking about spirit (in tongues) intercessory prayer.
29
This kind of prayer is always in the will of God and always
works together for good – never bad.
I Timothy 2:1-4
KJ…I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, pray-
ers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
(2) For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may
lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
(3) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our
Savior; (4) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come
unto the knowledge of the truth.
Holy Ghost intercession will help us when we do not know
how to pray for kings (presidents), those in authority, and for
all men – no matter where they are.
I Peter 2:9
KJ…But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an
holy nation, a pecular people; that ye should shew forth the
praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his
marvelous light:
God has given us an “office”…a royal priesthood…to inter-
cede for others.
Hebrews 4:16
KJ…Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of
need.
We can come boldly to our God, and obtain mercy and grace
for ourselves and also for others.
GOD IS LOOKING FOR INTERCESSORS…

PRAYING DOWN THE GLORY
Glory – The anointing of God…the fire…the healing power
of God, or when the Holy Ghost brings God’s ability on the
scene.
II Chronicles 7:1-3
KJ…Now when Solomon had made an end of praying the
fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offer-
ing and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the
house. (2) And the priests could not enter into the house of
the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s
house. (3) And when all the children of Israel saw how the
fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house,
they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon
the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord, saying,
for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.
The glory – the presence of God – the fire came!
II Chronicles 5:11-14
KJ…And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of
the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were
sanctified, and did not then wait by course: (12) also the Le-
vites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of
Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being
arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and
harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an
hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) (13) It
came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one,
to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the
Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets
and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord,
saying, for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that
31
then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the
Lord; (14) so that the priests could not stand to minister by
reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the
house of God.
What caused the glory of God to fill the house of God?
One accord in prayer…singing…praising God…
worshipping…thanking God for His goodness and mer-
cy…magnifying God.
Psalm 22:3
KJ…God inhabits (dwells in) the praises of his people.
This kind of prayer will bring a miracle…faith will keep it!
This kind of prayer will always bring the glory, or power of
God if you don’t stop ministering to the Lord until the glory
comes.
I don’t want you to be unrealistic, or think that this prayer
will get everyone healed or set free.
The person being prayed for must be able to hold the power,
or glory, when it comes upon them.
“FAITH” – “believing and receiving” depends upon your
trust in praying down the glory, and faith in the word of God
that you know.
You must know what belongs to you and act upon God’s
word when the glory falls.
A dead or weak battery will not hold a charge.
Praying in tongues – quoting and meditating the word of
God can help you to hold a charge (God’s power of glory).
32
Some times you can pray down the glory regularly…a con-
tinual charge…if there is enough time for the person in-
volved to get their battery started by building God’s word
into their ownself.
Praying down the glory and laying on of hands, are for the
transmitting of God’s power.
I Timothy 4:14-15
KJ…Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee
by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the Presby-
tery. (15) Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to
them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
Learn to meditate so that you can stay built up…you will re-
ceive.
PRAYING IN JESUS NAME
John 16:23-24
KJ…And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily,
I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my
name, he will give it you. (24) Hither to have ye asked noth-
ing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may
be full.
PROPER PRAYER IS TO THE FATHER, IN THE
NAME OF JESUS.
Not to Jesus, or for Jesus sake.
Matthew 6:6
KJ…Pray to thy father
33
Matthew 6:9
KJ…Jesus said, after this manner therefore pray ye: our Fa-
ther…
Jesus’ name gives us access in prayer, to almighty God, our
Father
Amen…
PRAYING FOR THE LOST
Luke 19:10
KJ…For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that
which was lost.
John 12:47
KJ…Jesus said, “I came not to judge the world, but to save
the world.
Most people pray “Lord, save so-and-so” when they are
praying for a loved one, friend or acquaintance who needs
Jesus in their lives.
This prayer would be doubt and unbelief; because our God
has already done all that it takes to save everyone.
II Corinthians 5:19
KJ…To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world
unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and
hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
AMP…It was God (personally present) in Christ, reconciling
and restoring the world to favor with himself, not counting
34
up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but canceling
them]; and committing to us the message of reconciliation—
of the restoration to favor.
John 3:16
KJ…For God so loved the world, that he gave his only be-
gotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not per-
ish, but have everlasting life.
THE PRICE HAS BEEN PAID FOR EVERY PERSON
IN THE WORLD TO BE SAVED.
John 1:12
KJ…But as many as received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his
name.
RECEIVING WHAT JESUS HAS DONE FOR THEM
WILL SAVE THEM.
Romans 10:9
KJ…That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Je-
sus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
II Corinthians 5:20
KJ…Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though
God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be
ye reconciled to God.
AMP…So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God, making his
appeal as it were through us. We (as Christ’s personal repre-
sentatives) beg you for his sake, to lay hold of the divine fa-
vor (now offered you) and be reconciled to God.
JOHNS…And he has entrusted to us this message that all is
35
now right between everyone and himself. So now we are
ambassadors for Christ: it is as if God were speaking directly
to you through our lips. In Christ’s behalf we urge you to
accept for yourselves God’s reconciling act.
WE ARE AMBASSADORS for Christ, sent from the
kingdom of God, to tell the world, Jesus has paid the
price to save…set free…heal… and deliver them out of
darkness, into the kingdom of God.
We do not need to ask the Father God to do something he
has already done (save someone…no!)
HOW DO WE PRAY FOR THE LOST?
Luke 10:2
KJ…Therefore said he unto them, the harvest truly is great,
but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the
harvest, that he would send forth labourers into the harvest.
FIRST
Pray for a laborer to be sent to go to them; one they will lis-
ten to.
Be willing to be a laborer (a person who will go when God
tells you.)
Be ready and willing to “go ye!”
SECOND
Pray God will grant them repentance (a sorrowful changing
of their mind)
II Timothy 2:25
RHM…That God should give them repentance unto a per-
sonal knowledge of truth.
36
II Peter 3:9
KJ…The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some
men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance.
The will of God is that…NONE PERISH – ALL RE-
PENT.
THIRD
Take authority over satan. It is satan that has them bound.
II Corinthians 4:3-4
KJ…But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.
(4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of
them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel
of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Luke 10:19
KJ…Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and
scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing
shall by any means hurt you.
Mark 16:15,17
KJ…And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. (17) And these signs
shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out
devils…
“YOU” SPEAK to the devil and his demons.
“YOU “ SAY…satan and, all your demons, that have the
37
person blind and bound, I break your power over (them) in
the Name of Jesus, and I command you to release them
NOW!
Now…”YOU” Say…In the name of Jesus, I claim their sal-
vation, and their deliverance out of the kingdom of darkness
into the kingdom of God.
Acts 2:39
KJ…For this promise is unto you, and to your children, and
to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God
shall call.
Acts 16:30-31
KJ…Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (31) …and they said,
believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,
and thy house.
CP…Put your faith in the Lord Jesus, and you and your fam-
ily will be liberated.
Galatians 3:13
KJ…Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, be-
ing made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one
that hangeth on a tree:
We have been redeemed from the curse of the law (Jesus de-
stroyed the curse.)
Deuteronomy 28 is where the curse is listed.
Deuteronomy 28:32,41
KJ…Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another
people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for
them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine
hand.
(41)…thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not
38
enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
NOW there is might in your hand (the word of God and the
name of Jesus)
FOURTH
Praying for those outside of your family, or those “not” un-
der your authority.
Luke 10:2 - Pray for laborers to be sent to them.
Romans 8:26
KJ…Likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we
know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the spirit
itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which can-
not be uttered.
(This is Holy Ghost prayer – praying in tongues)
When we pray in the spirit (tongues) we know that it will
turn out good.
Romans 8:28
KJ…And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to
his purpose.
People who have been “prayed into” the kingdom of God
have a good new birth. They are not as apt to fall away and
they will be healthy at birth.
Galatians 4:19
KJ…Paul said, “I travail in birth…”
Travail …birth pains or pangs (sorrow and weeping)
Compassion…for the lost will bring travail.
39
Nothing or no one is too far gone or too hard; when we join
forces with god.
OUR METHOD OF HEALING
All of the “skillful in prayer” prayers, may be used in receiv-
ing healing. There are other ways to receive healing.
GIFTS OF HEALINGS – This gift can come through any-
one who has been filled with the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:4…
Acts 10:44-46…Acts 19:6) It is only as the spirit will for it’s
use.
I Corinthians 12:1,9
KJ…Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not
have you ignorant.
(9) To another faith by the same spirit; to another the gifts of
healing by the same spirit.
I Corinthians 12:28
KJ…And God hath set some in the church, first Apostles,
secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles,
then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of
tongues.
What gifts God placed in the church, are still in the church
today and available to all who believe in them.
The gifts of healings operate regularly through the office of
the Evangelist.
Mark 6:5
KJ…And he could there do no might work, save that he laid
hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
40
In his earthly ministry, Jesus could not operate these gifts at
will…ONLY AS THE SPIRIT WILL. And to receive by
the gifts of healings you must be present where these gifts
are welcomed and allowed to operate.
Acts 10:38
KJ…How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy
Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and
healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was
with him.
What kind of power was Jesus anointed with? Healing pow-
er of God.
Luke 4:18
KJ…The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath
anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me
to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the cap-
tives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty
them that are bruised.
Acts 2:22
KJ…Ye men of Israel, here these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a
man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders
and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye
yourselves also know.
Acts 4:27
KJ…For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou
hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gen-
tiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together.
41
THE BORN AGAIN BELIEVER
II Corinthians 1:21
KJ…Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and
hath anointed us, is God;
Anointing – God’s ability upon a man. It lifts burdens and
destroys the yokes.
Isaiah10:27
KJ…And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden
shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from
off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the
anointing.
I John 2:27
KJ…But the anointing which ye have received of him
abideth in you.
Galatians 2:20
KJ…I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I ,
but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the
flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me,
and gave himself for me.
Christ – means the anointed one and his anointing.
Colossians 1:27
42
KJ…To whom God would make known what is the riches of
the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ
in you, the hope of Glory.
ANOINTED CLOTHS OR HANDKERCHIEFS
Acts 19:11-12
KJ…And God wrought special miracles by the hands of
Paul: (12) so that from his body were brought unto the sick
handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from
them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
This is a special way that God uses some ministers. And I
have found that the anointing stores up best in 100% cotton
handkerchiefs.
Matthew 9:20-21
KJ…And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an is-
sue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the
hem of his garment: (21) for she said within herself, If I may
but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
The healing anointing was extended to his clothes.
LAYING ON OF HANDS
Mark 16:15-18
KJ…And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. (16) He that believeth
and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall
be damned. (17) And these signs shall follow them that be-
lieve; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak
with new tongues; (18) They shall take up serpents; and if
they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall
43
lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Believer (the believing ones) - Laying on of hands is for all
believers to exercise.
Hebrews 6:1-2
KJ…Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of
Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the
foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith to-
ward God. (2) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on
of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judg-
ment.
Laying on of hands is the basic doctrine of Christ…part of
the foundation.
Matthew 8:1-3
KJ…When he was come down from the mountain, great
multitudes followed him.
(2) And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him,
saying, Lord if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. (3) And
Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be
thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Mark 8:22-25
KJ…And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind
man unto him, and besought him to touch him. (23) And he
took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town;
and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon
him, he asked him if he saw ought. (24) And he looked up,
and said, I see men as trees, walking. (25) After that he put
his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and
he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
Jesus did not pray for this blind man twice, he, Jesus trans-
mitted the anointing twice.
44
Acts 28:8-9
KJ…And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick
of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in,
and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. (9)
So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in
the island, came and were healed.
Jesus and the Early Church used “Laying on of Hands” more
than any other method for getting people healed.
SPEAKING THE WORD
First find the word of God (scriptures) that you need for
your situation, then start speaking and agreeing with the
word.
Matthew 8:5-10
KJ…And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there
came unto him a Centurion, beseeching him, (6) and saying,
Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the Palsy, grievously
tormented. (7) And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and
heal him. (8) The Centurion answered and said, Lord, I am
not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but
speak the word only and my servant shall be healed. (9) For I
am under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to
this man, go, and he goeth; and to another, come, and he
cometh; and to my servant, do this, and he doeth it. (10)
When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that fol-
lowed, verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith,
no, not in Israel.
Romans 10:6-10
KJ…But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this
wise, say not in thine heart, who shall ascend into heaven?
(That is, to bring Christ down from above:) (7) Or, who shall
descend into the deep? (That is, to bring up Christ again from
45
the dead.) (8) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even
in thy mouth, and in thine heart: that is, the word of faith,
which we preach; (9) that if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that
God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10)
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Did you notice in verse 10 that confession is made unto sal-
vation. Confession must come first before the salvation
comes.
Salvation…Greek…Soteria…means deliverance…
preservation…healing…soundness.
Hebrews 3:1
KJ…Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly
calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profes-
sion, Christ Jesus;
Profession or Confession…Greek…Homolego, means to
speak the same thing, or agree with God’s word with your
mouth.
Speak the word only – not your feelings of what you or oth-
ers think the problem is.
Mark 11:23
For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this
mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those
things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have what-
soever he saith.
Jesus said, “You can have what you say.”
46
If you speak God’s word out loud, it will cause you to think
in line with God.
TAKE GOD’S MEDICINE
Proverbs 4:20-22
KJ…My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my
sayings. (21) Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them
in the midst of thine heart. (22) For they are life unto those
that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Health…Hebrew…Marpe…Means medicine, cure – reme-
dy.
God’s word is medicine to our flesh.
Psalm 107:20
KJ…He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them
from their destructions.
God’s word will heal, if you take it (it is medicine).
How do you take medicine? With your mouth!
Choose some healing scriptures (God’s medicine); start with
one – talk it out loud to yourself.
Romans 8:11
KJ…But if the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the
dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his spirit that
dwelleth in you.
John 7:38-39
KJ…He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out
47
of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (39) But this
spake he of the spirit, which they that believe on him should
receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that
Jesus was not yet glorified.
The Holy Spirit will pump the life of God, that is contained
in the word of God, to the place that needs healing.
John 1:1
KJ…In the beginning was the word, and the word was with
God, and the word was God.
The word contains God and His ability.
STANDING IN FAITH FOR OTHERS
(NOT PROXY)
Your faith must work for you before you can use it for
someone else.
RULES for standing with others
RULE #1
They must be “bonafide baby Christians,” meaning young in
the Lord…Not baby Christians that are older in the Lord, and
should be able to stand in faith for themselves.
Hebrews 5:12-14
KJ…For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have
need that one teach you again which be the first principles of
the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of
milk, and not of strong meat. (13) For every one that useth
milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a
babe. (14) But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full
age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exer-

cised to discern both good and evil.
Christians who can stand in faith for others must know who
they are “in Christ”; what God has made them through the
death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus – the Christ.
RULE #2
Or those you stand for must be under your authority.
Examples: your children…if they obey you, or someone who
works for you, and who trusts you.
Mark 5:22-23
KJ…And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the syna-
gogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his
feet. (23) And besought him greatly, saying, my little daugh-
ter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy
hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

Mark 7:25-26,29
KJ…For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an un-
clean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: (26)
the woman was a Greek (not a Jew), a syrophenician by na-
tion; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil
out of her daughter.
(29) And he said unto her, for this saying go thy way; the
devil is gone out of thy daughter.
Matthew 8:5-8
KJ…And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there
came unto him a Centurion (a Roman), beseeching him, (6)
And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the Palsy,
49
grievously tomented. (7) And Jesus saith unto him, I will
come and heal him. (8) The Centurion answered and said,
Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my
roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be
healed.
Matthew 8:10
KJ…Jesus said, this Centurion put into motion…great faith.”
John 4:46-50
KJ…So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee, where he made
the water wine. And there was a certain Nobleman, whose
son was sick at Capernaum. (47) When he heard that Jesus
was come out of Judaea into Galilee, He went unto him, and
besought him that he would come down, and heal his son:
for he was at the point of death. (48) Then said Jesus unto
him, except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
(49) The Nobleman saith unto him, sir, come down ere my
child die. (50) Jesus saith unto him, go thy way; thy son
liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken
unto him, and he went his way.
LET’S GET SKILLFUL SO THAT WE CAN HELP
OTHERS.
AMEN.
