As of this writing, giving has been over budget 11 out of the past 12 weeks! If you’re new to Bayside, or just want to be reminded of the inspiration behind this move of God, go to the web- site (baysidechurch.net) and watch the “The Blessed Life” series. Without ques- tion, that series continues to be used by God to inspire and bless the Bayside family. Let’s pray this upward giving trend continues through the summer and skips the dip. That would be a miracle! And here’s why. Summer is a unique season in the life of the church. While there is a lot of ministry going on with camps, trips, outreaches, special wor- ship services and fellowships, it tends to be a time when worship attendance and giving take a dip. That dip is compound- ed in Florida because our part-year members head back north for the sum- mer. Let’s pray and commit ourselves to continue strong through the summer in our giving and our attendance in wor- ship. So let’s skip the dip! Speaking of worship, I’d like to offer a few ways you can invest over the sum- mer months in yourself so that you don’t experience a summer spiritual dip. 1. Find a Spot A few weeks ago, in a message on wor- ship, I mentioned that one of the most important things we can do for our spir- itual lives is to identify a spot where we meet regularly with God. Do you have a spot? If not, this summer identify that place that will be the place where you will worship, pray, and read the Word of God. I’ve had many ‘spots’ over the years. But the spot that is my ‘spot’ for the past 3 months or so has been a picnic table at John Chest- nut park. This park is right on my way to work in the morning, so I exit out of the southbound traffic and find this little table by the lake. And there I read the Scripture, talk to Jesus, and just ‘be’ in the presence of God. Your spot may not be at a park; it may not even be out- side at all. It may be in a recliner, or at kitchen table, or kneeling bench. It’s your spot so it can be anywhere you (and God) want it to be. 2. Pick a Book and Hit “Repeat” Pick a book of the Bible and hit “repeat.” For me, my book this summer will be Proverbs. Short books in the New Tes- tament work well for this too. Instead of trying to read through several books of the Bible, just pick one and read it through several times through the sum- mer. Pick a book like Proverbs, or Co- lossians, or one of the Gospels and seek to read it through a couple of times over the next several weeks. I think you will find this to be an incredibly enrich- ing process. Think of the books of the Bible like 66 friends. Picking one book to read over and over is like spending extended quality time with one friend, instead of a few minutes with a bunch of friends. You will get to know and under- stand the book, the author, and ulti- mately God on a more intimate basis. Skip the Dip Connued on page 2

First, thank you for your faithful financial support of Bayside and our mission to see more people become more like Je-sus! As of this writing, giving has been over budget 11 out of the past 12 weeks! If you’re new to Bayside, or just want to be reminded of the inspiration behind this move of God, go to the web-site (baysidechurch.net) and watch the “The Blessed Life” series. Without ques-tion, that series continues to be used by God to inspire and bless the Bayside family. Let’s pray this upward giving trend continues through the summer and

skips the dip. That would be a miracle!

And here’s why. Summer is a unique season in the life of the church. While there is a lot of ministry going on with camps, trips, outreaches, special wor-ship services and fellowships, it tends to be a time when worship attendance and giving take a dip. That dip is compound-ed in Florida because our part-year members head back north for the sum-mer. Let’s pray and commit ourselves to continue strong through the summer in our giving and our attendance in wor-

ship. So let’s skip the dip!

Speaking of worship, I’d like to offer a few ways you can invest over the sum-mer months in yourself so that you don’t

    experience a summer spiritual dip.

    1. Find a Spot A few weeks ago, in a message on wor-ship, I mentioned that one of the most important things we can do for our spir-itual lives is to identify a spot where we meet regularly with God. Do you have a spot? If not, this summer identify that place that will be the place where you will worship, pray, and read the Word of

God. I’ve had many ‘spots’ over the years. But the spot that is my ‘spot’ for the past 3 months or so has been a picnic table at John Chest-nut park. This park is right on my way to work in the morning, so I exit out of the southbound traffic and find this little table by the lake. And there I read the Scripture, talk to Jesus, and just ‘be’ in the presence of God. Your spot may not be at a park; it may not even be out-side at all. It may be in a recliner, or at kitchen table, or kneeling bench. It’s your spot so it can be anywhere you

(and God) want it to be.

    2. Pick a Book and Hit “Repeat” Pick a book of the Bible and hit “repeat.” For me, my book this summer will be Proverbs. Short books in the New Tes-tament work well for this too. Instead of trying to read through several books of the Bible, just pick one and read it through several times through the sum-mer. Pick a book like Proverbs, or Co-lossians, or one of the Gospels and seek to read it through a couple of times over the next several weeks. I think you will find this to be an incredibly enrich-ing process. Think of the books of the Bible like 66 friends. Picking one book to read over and over is like spending extended quality time with one friend, instead of a few minutes with a bunch of friends. You will get to know and under-stand the book, the author, and ulti-

mately God on a more intimate basis.

    3. Learn from a Godly Person. Pick a godly person, living or dead and listen to their biography on audio book (or read it.) While you’re sitting on the porch, deck or beach towel, take a biography with you. Reading the life jour-neys of people of faith can be an incredibly inspiring and chal-lenging exercise.

If we apply these three simple things over the summer, we just may find come September that our spiritual life has skipped the dip. Instead of a lull, we may find it has actually heated up over the summer.

Praying that you will experience sacred moments of relaxation

and refreshing this summer. And don’t forget the sunscreen!

  • Wow! The first month has flown by! I am so excited to be here. We are still learning names and faces, but we love being at Bayside. There have been lots of things going in The Harbor. A few weeks ago we hosted Student Leadership Institute for Florida Church of God Ministries. We are working on our student worship team so we can have music every week. Things are gearing up for summer with Middle School Camp and IYC plans in full swing. If your student has not signed up yet, now is the time!

Our new sermon series for June is “Me, My Selfie and I”. Topics include “Removing Selfie Vision”, “Ignoring the Waves of Approval”, “Denying Selfie”, and “Selfie Confidence”. We are going to have students post selfies to Instagram and Facebook and tag them #harborselfie. The best selfie every week will get a prize. BE CREATIVE!

So as you can see we are on a roll, if I have not met you yet, please stop me and say hi. We are looking forward to what God has for our new season here at Bayside and the Harbor Student Ministries.

  • Bayside MOPS: We Get Moms!! Thank you for helping MOPS (Mothers of

Preschoolers) create a safe place for many

mothers in our community. Most im-

portantly you have helped us share Jesus

with some who didn’t even know they needed him yet.

Through all of those things, God has used you to change

    a corner of the world.

The Dove Circle This group of ladies of all ages meets the 3rd Sat-urday of every month at Kally K's in Dunedin at noon for a tasty lunch, wonderful fellowship and a short program. This month’s luncheon will be Saturday, June 18th. Contact Lynda Taylor for more information, 727-771-8209 .

More tickets are being ordered for this exciting event. Interested???

Our June Impact 12 emphasis will be supporting our sister church in La Concepcion. We will be using a portion of the "It's Not Your Birth-day" offering received in December and January to assist them in building a computer lab which will serve over 200 youth and children. This lab will help improve the education level of these students, qual-ifying them for better employment opportunities in the future and improving their overall quality of life.

Special thank to those who filled the

baby bottles with change for the Preg-

nancy Center in May. $2,617.42 was

collected! In addition $250 was col-

lected in pledges for the Walk For Life.

    Way to step up Bayside!
