An Everyday Sport
Every NIGHT, actually.
By Paolo Piedad
For Prof. Tina Seelig’s “Crash Course on Creativity”
What I think makes a sport.
• 1st: It has to have an objective
• 2nd: It has to have that competitive factor.
• 3rd: Players have to train and, therefore,
have coaches.
• 4th: It is beneficial to the player’s character
and health.
Did you ever want to get enough sleep, but didn’t have the will-power to do so?
To wake up on time without an alarm interrupting the dream of your dreams?
Well, here are the goals of this sport:
• To sleep on time,
• To wake up on time, and
• To challenge others to do the same.
The Mechanics?
• The player has to have a log book and a
schedule to be aimed for (e.g. sleep at
9pm, wake up at 5am).
• He/she gets to log one point every time the
schedule is met.
• The most points one can get consecutively
wins!
You can play against…
Family…
Or with friends!
• BUT you don’t have to be on the
same bed!
NO doubt we need a coach…
(Well, at least I do… ) To push us to follow the schedule!
Soon, it should be habitual and “easy peasy”.
Without the whistle, of course!
Why make this a sport?
Some people take sleep too lightly,
while others “take” it too much. This is to
encourage everyone to have a healthy
lifestyle, to keep fit, and to keep order and
discipline in their lives. I personally struggle
to fix my sleeping schedule; I know I need
it… AND SO DO ATHLETES. Therefore,…
…This sport is the sport of every athlete; the sport that conditions you for other sports.
All you basically need is a bed and a clock.(Forget the notebook – you can use yourmemory that was enhanced by your sleep!)
Sleep,
I call it.
Good night, fellow creativity students.
