A down sleeping bag is not difficult to look after. In fact, with the correct care, you can greatly increase your sleeping bag’s life: Avoid storing your sleeping bag in its stuff sack. If you have the room, hang it in your wardrobe or keep it folded on a shelf. If you have limited space, store your sleeping bag in a pillow case or purchase a mesh storage bag from us. Always use a sleeping bag liner to keep your sleeping bag clean. Dirt and body oils reduce the loft greatly. Liners are often cotton, silk or a cotton/silk blend. Silk liners are the lightest and most compact option. A well-used sleeping bag should be washed a few times during its life. It’s far easier to get a professional to do this (we recommend Remote Repairs). If you do elect to wash your bag yourself, follow washing instructions provided on the sleeping bag and use only recommended down washes, such as Nikwax Down Wash Direct, available at our store. JANUARY 2019 CARE FOR YOUR NEW SLEEPING BAG Bogong Equipment gear for serious adventures HOW TO CHOOSE Sleeping bags tend to be categorised by seasons. *Hydronaute XT: Waterproof, breathable, warmer.Hydronaute XT is a waterproof, breathable fabric designed especially for sleeping bags. It’s not only waterproof, but also windproof, which adds to the warmth of the bag by creating dead air inside the bag where the down is. Hydronaute XT™ protects down from moisture on the outside, but it’s on the inside of the bag where Hydronaute XT™ really proves its worth. Moisture vapour produced by the body can condense in the down of the sleeping bag reducing its ability to loft. With Hydronaute XT™, moisture vapour is pulled through the membrane via a molecular chain, keeping down drier, maintaining loft and ensuring a more comfy sleep.

• Materials: Only the finest independently tested and certified materials. Lightweight, soft-to-the-touch fabrics. High–threadcount fabrics are downproof and durable. No fabrics with cheap acrylic coatings. Exped’s suppliers adhere to stringent environmental standards. The fabrics used are Oeko-Tex® 100 Class 1 certified. Shell fabrics are free of PFC treatment. Exped does not use DWR treatment in liners.

• Down: Starting 2018, all Exped IDFL test results are available for viewing. Just scan the QR code on the product and learn more, or go to “verify.idfl.com/exped”. Exped’s RDS certification can also be viewed here as Exped has been RDS certified since 2016 for Exped’s involvement in animal welfare.

Features of Exped bags:• Differential cut: the liner is smaller than the

shell, which prevents elbows and knees from compressing down within the baffles. Every baffle is strategically designed and custom-filled.

• Water-resistant: Patented, fully taped baffle seams allow the use of natural, untreated down.

• 3D trapezoidal foot box: Better insulation due to lack of cold spots means warmer feet. Fits the natural position of the feet.

• Inner pocket: Keeps batteries and phone warm.• Hood: Intuitive and easy-to-use hood closure

system. Ergonomically placed for quick and accurate closing and opening.

• Zips: Available with left or right zips allowing two sleeping bags of the Expedition and Trekking Series to be joined together.
