A quick freshen to my breath turned into an embarrassing ouchie, with blood on my shirt and a visible sore on my lip.

You know those packet of gum that have the foil backing that you simply push the piece of gum through right? Trying not to take my eyes off the road, I mindlessly popped out a piece and lifted to my mouth. Just as my tongue touched the awaited sweetness to my mouth I felt the foil rip my lip. Ouch- but it was too late; if felt like a paper cut and hurt like one. Not a vampire, but the taste of my blood was sweet, not the sweetness I wanted nor the stain on my sweater.

Design dilemma

Was this just a fluke or does it happen often? I briefly questioned what and where the aluminum was made was there any risk with a open wound from aluminum (bit of a drama queen). What is this solution to this design flaw; so the drama queens don’t have to worry and the other people don’t show up with blood stained clothes. Perhaps a thicker perforated paper (biodegradable), or just a simple caution on the label? What do you think, how could this be better designed?
