Without any ormal business training or commercial experience,
I enrolled on the Sloan programme to learn the language o the
business world. The most valuable takeaways are thesel-discovery process and the lielong riendships with ellow
Sloans established over the year. I have also made many useul
contacts in London (and in Hong Kong) through the Schools
networks.
The Sloan programme equipped me with the skills, and more
importantly the condence, to reinvent mysel and to lead a very
dierent liestyle.

The Sloan programme was undoubtedly a powerul learning
experience or me. But the programme was not just about
getting a rst-class business education and developing my
skills and knowledge. As a ull-time course, it gave me the
opportunity to really review my career goals and consider
new challenges. Sloan gave me resh stimulation, ideas
and perspectives on strategy and leadership. All this, and a
unique network o ellow Sloans, was invaluable as I branched
out on my own as an entrepreneur ater the programme.Per Regnarsson (Danish)

Christopher Woolard (British)
Sloan Fellow 2005
Current role: Partner, Ocom
Pre-Sloan role: Director, Postal Services, Department o Trade

The Sloan experience gave me the chance to consider whatleadership means to me and provided me with the skills and
knowledge to challenge the status quo and be decisive when
it matters.
Seven years on, I am still using many o the techniques rom Sloan
every day. Perhaps more importantly, as the public sector aces
major challenges in the UK, I eel I have a strong base o skills to
help lead my organisation through difcult times. Long-term, the
impact o Sloan or me can be summarised in one word confdence.
Kok Kong Chan(Malaysian)
Sloan Fellow 1997
Current role: Partner, Egon Zehnder International
Pre-Sloan role: Senior Manager, Global Corporate Finance, Arthur
Andersen
The Sloan programme was a lie-changing experience. It
broadened my perspectives and opened doors that I had not
previously imagined.
The content was relevant, my student peers were interesting, andwe all worked hard while having loads o un. It broadened my
knowledge across all acets o business management and opened
my eyes beyond a career that was previously deeply fnance ocused.
The course is still paying dividends. It connected me, and
continues to connect me, with a large number o highly capable
people who are successul in their own right. This is o at least as
much, i not greater, value as the content o the programme itsel.
Michael Azlen (Canadian)
Sloan Fellow 1994
Current role: Founder and CEO, Frontier Capital Management
Pre-Sloan role: Vice President, Equity Derivatives, CIBC World
Markets
The Sloan programme, and the entrepreneurial electives available
at London Business School, were the ideal combination or me.
The programme was the right choice and I eel I have received an
excellent return on my investment.
My most valuable experiences came rom learning rom other Sloans
in my class. You are in a class with a huge amount o experienceacross a wide range o cultures and industries. This experience and
diversity results in a dynamic learning environment and I would
estimate that I learned at least as much rom my classmates as rom
the material on the programme.
Paul Benson (Australian)
Sloan Fellow 2000
Current role: CEO and Managing Director, Troy Resources NL
Pre-Sloan role: General Manager, Renison Goldfelds
Although the Sloan programme requires a large investment o time
and money, I do believe the rewards oten cannot be achieved by
normal career progression. I have been able to get and succeed in
roles that I do not believe would have been oered to me had I not
completed the Sloan programme.
The most important single change I experienced has been the
confdence to talk about complex business problems at the most
senior levels within an organisation. I know early in my career
there were times when I kept a view or idea to mysel, particularly
in the ace o an aggressive colleague or super confdent
management consultant. Today, I have the skills and confdence to
put my point o view across.

I am now leading the global expansion o a boutique hotel chain.
Sloan allowed me to move into this position and enabled me to lead
and manage within an international corporate context.
The programme helped me leverage my core strengths while flling
in my managerial gaps. It enabled me to translate my experience
in architectural design and as an entrepreneur into an approach
that has allowed me to successully develop a global brand.
Finance, marketing and strategy are all key to building a brand,
but none o it is possible without people, their belie in a vision,
and their belie in themselves. Sloan gives you the leadership
skills to turn a shared vision into reality.
The programme undoubtedly has a superb curriculum and great
aculty, but the most valuable takeaway or me was the interaction
with other Sloans, and the continued dialogue and network.

I came to Sloan with a marketing background in agrochemicals,
having worked in a large organisation or more than 10 years. Ater
two entrepreneurship electives and meeting entrepreneurs in class,
as well as visiting venture capitalists, I decided to combine my
chemistry doctorate with my business experience and move into the
biotech sector.
Following two roles o increasing responsibility in other biotech
companies, I am now CEO o an early stage vaccines technology
company. I it had not been or my time at London Business School,
it would not have occurred to me to work in a small entrepreneurial
company, let alone run one! Sloan opened up a new world o
possibilities or me, and gave me the confdence to go or it. My
class also provided me with a group o wonderul riends all round
the world.

Beore applying to Sloan, I had been fnding it difcult to make
the step into senior management positions with either whole
asset or country responsibilities. I had the track record, dedication
and drive to step into the roles, but I also knew I needed some
leadership tools. Sloan ticked all the boxes or me. It delivered the
peer group, content and contacts that have allowed me to land my
current position with both asset and country responsibilities. I
fnished the Sloan programme much richer or the experience and
insights, and much more confdent in my own capabilities. I also
made some antastic riends along the way.

Moving to London
Bringing my amily to London or the Sloan programme was a great

parks, museums, castles, zoos and arms in easy reach. The biggest
unexpected bonus was the way my child, Isabel, blossomed. She
