Sri Ganesha is the first son of Sri Shiva and Sri Parvathi. Hindus pray to Ganesha before starting any new task. Among all the wonderful Hindu Deities, Ganesha is the closest to the material plane of consciousness,

most easily contacted, and most able to assist us in our day-to-day life and concerns. In His hands, He wields a noose and a goad, With the noose He can hold you close, or hold obstacles close. He can capture and confine both blessings and obstacles. With the goad He can strike and repel obstacles. He is called remover of obstacles.There are several modern shrines to Ganesha across the Universe.

Ganesha the elephant faced God is usually worshipped First before any other worship Service is carried out to any Other deity.

Ganesha or Ganapati is an extremely popular God. He is called Vighneshvara or Vighnaharta, the Lord of and destroyer of obstacles. People mostly worship Him asking for siddhi, success in undertakings, and buddhi, intelligence. He is worshipped before any venture is started. He is also the God of education, knowledge and wisdom, literature, and the fine arts. In reality, He is Brahman

' PUJA' WORSHIP

(By Pt. Shrinathji)Puja is a word in Sanskrit language, which stands for Worship. In the word Puja -- 'p' stands for 'paapa' meaning sins.'j' stands for 'janma' means birth.With 'p' it removes all accumulated sins, and 'j' it makes your life's (birth) purpose fulfilled.

The Lord being not accessible to our eyes, ears, nose, touch and beyond the ken of ordinary (undefined) Intellect, the ancients devised a method of bringing Lord within the realm of the senses. This method is to worship God in an object (photo, water, fire, precious jewel, idol etc) which you can touch, feel, smell, see, feel the taste of. Thus all wandering senses are brought to a focus, by belief (faith) and by daily practice.

Unshakable faith and long practice, evokes and unfolds hitherto unknown dimensions in awareness, which are generally not communicable in the normal way. By puja you will be in a positions to inject noblest thoughts in the subconscious. Above all, one will succeed in solving the mystery of 'Life'.

Do the Puja anyway you can with Devotion and love for Lord in your heart.

God out of his mercy will overlook all the shortcomings of men if they pursue the path of devotion with fervor. At the end of worship, daily or occasional, a prayer is offered to God not to mind the defects while chanting the mantras or adapting the procedures or for forgetting to do some duties out of ignorance. The Almighty is compassionate enough to ignore such errors. Thus mercy being His chief trait, a devotee need not be concerned with minor defects if his endeavors is absolutely sincere but the enjoined duties should not be abandoned.

Shraddha (commitment) and 2. Bhakti (Devotion). The worship of God is in the format of Upacharas (royal respects). Introduction : Geetha Dhyaanam, also called Dhyaana Slokas, has Nine Slokas of Prayerful Meditation.These Slokas are usually chanted by Students devoted to the study of Bhagavath Geetha, before they start their daily Geetha Lessons. This is much similar to our tradition of praying to God before starting any auspicious undertaking.

Meaning: For I desire to observe those who are assembled here for the fight, wishing to please in battle the evil-minded son of Dhritaraashtra.

Meaning: For I desire not victory, O Krishna, nor kingdom, nor pleasures. Of what avail is dominion to us, O Govinda? Of what avail are pleasures or even life itself ?

Meaning: They, for whose sake we desire kingdom, enjoyments and pleasures, stand here in battle, having renounced life and wealth.

34. AACHAARYAA: PITHRAk PUTHRAAsTHAThAIVA CHA PITHAAMAHAA: PAATHULAA: SHVASHURAA: PAUTHRAA: ShYAALAA: SaMBANDhINASTHAThAA

Meaning: Teachers, fathers, sons and also grandfathers, maternal uncles, fathers-in-law, grandsons, brothers-in-law and other relatives.

35. EyTHAANNA HANTHUmICHChAAMI GhNATHOPI MADhUSOODHANA API THRAILOKYA RAAJYASYA HEyTHO Kim NU MAHEEKRuTHEy

Meaning: These I do not wish to kill even if killed by therm, O Madhusudana, even for the sake of dominion over the three worlds; how much less for the sake of the earth.

Meaning: Killing these sons of Dhritharashtra what pleasure can be ours, O Janardhana? Sin alone will be our gain by killing these felons.

37.THASMAANNAArHAA VAYAm HANTHUm DhAARTHARAASHTRAAN SVABAANDhAVAAN SVAJANAm HI KAThAM HATHVAA SUKhINA: SYAAMA MAADHAVA

Meaning: Therefore, we should not kill the sons of Dhritharashtra, our own relatinves; for how can we be happy by killing our own people, O Madhava?

Meaning: Though these, with their intelligence clouded by greed, see no evil in the destruction of the families in the Society and no sin in their cruelty to friends.

Meaning: Why should not we, who clearly see evil in the destruction of the family units, learn to turn away from this, O Janardhana?

40. KULAKSHAYAE PRANhAShYANTHI KULADhARMAA: SANAATHANAA: DhARMEy NAShTEy KULAM KRuTHSNAM ADhARMOBhIBhAVATHYUTHA

Meaning: In the destruction of a family, the imeemorial religious rites of that familyperish; on the destuction of sacred rights, impiety overcomes the whole family.

41. ADhARMAABhIBhAVAATH KRuSHNhA PRADHUShYANTHI KULASTHRIYA: STHREESHU DHUSHTAASU VAARShNEYA JAAYATHEy VARNhA SAnKARA:

Meaning: By the prevalence of the impiety, O Krishna, the women of the family become corrupt; and women being corrupted, O descendant of Vrishni-clan, there arises “admixture of castes” (Varna-saMkara)

42. SAmKARO NARAKAA YAIVA KULAGhNAANAAm KULASYA CHA PATHANTHI PITHARO HYESHAAM LUPTHA PINDODHAKAKRIYAA:

Meaning: “admixture of castes” leads the slayers of the family to hell; for their forefathers fall being deprived of the offering of Pinda (rice-ball) and water

43. DHOSHAIREyTHAI: KULAGhNAANAAM VARNAhASAmKARAKAARAKAI: UTHSAADHYANTHEy JAATHI DhARMAA: KULADhARMAAShCHA SHAASHVATHAA:

Meaning: By these evil deeds of the “destroyers of the family”, which cause admixture of castes, the etrnal religious rites of the caste and the family are destroyed.

44. UTHSANNA KULA DhARMAANhAAM MANUShYAANhAAM JANAARDHANA NARAKEy NIYATHAM VAASO BhAVATHEETHYANUSHUShRUMA

Meaning: We have heard, O Janardhana, that it is inevitable for those men in whose families the religious practices have been destroyed to dwell in hell ofr an unknown period of time.

Meaning: If the sons of Dhritharashtra, weapons-in-hand slay me, unresisting and unarmed, in the battle, that would be better for me.

MeANING: Sanjaya said: Having thus spoken in the midst of the battle-field, Arjuna sat down on the seat of the chariot, casting away his bow and arrow, with a mind overwhelmed with sorrow.
