Company HIstory

SM Laundry & Linen is one of the leading service providers in the laundry and

l inen industry. From its humble beginnings in 2001, it has expanded into a

large corporation and is recognised as one of the largest non-hotel aff i l iated

commercial laundry service providers in Singapore, occupying a 20,000

square feet plant with more than 80 staff.

SM Laundry & Linen’s foray into the Hospital ity and Food and Beverage

industry has seen it service top cl ients in both the private and public sector.

Over the years, SM has consistently sought to revolutionize and enhance its

services to bring the best value for money through innovation and leveraging

on technology.

In 2004, SM Laundry & Linen moved to its new premises at the Loyang

Industrial Estate - situated strategical ly with easy accessibi l i ty via major

expressways l ike the PIE, TPE and the ECP. Cutting edge equipment such as

a new tunnel batch washer was acquired to extend its production capacity

and productivity, underscoring its commitment to pushing the boundaries of

effectiveness and eff iciency.

The management of SM Laundry & Linen brings with it a wealth of more than

30 years experience in the market. In 2005, SM Laundry & Linen received the

accreditation of S7 by the Ministry of Finance, Singapore, in recognit ion of its

f inancial strength and track record. In 2006, SM was selected as a major

sponsor for the Singapore National Day Parade.

Our cl ients include ministr ies, government agencies and statutory boards

such as People’s Association and the Ministry of Defence. SM Laundry &

Linen is also the appointed service provider for the SIngapore

Government Service.

SM Laundry & Linen also services cl ients in the hotel industry. We have

worked with the Swissotel and Meritus Hotels and Resorts group and have

received very posit ive feedback with regards to our qual ity and service

standards. Other cl ients include resorts such as the Sentosa Golf Club and

Orchid Country Club.

Proposal for Resorts World at Sentosa (RWS)

(I) Background

Resorts World at Sentosa (RWS) is the developer of Southeast Asia’s leading

family destination, located on Sentosa Island and is due to open in early

2010.

This integrated resort wil l see six onsite hotels encompassing 1,800 hotel

rooms. These hotels include Maxims Residences, Hotel Michael, Hard Rock

Hotel, Festive Hotel, Equarius Hotel and Espa Vi l las. The resort also includes

a bal lroom with a capacity of 1,500 and a convention hal l that can hold

2,000 people.

(II) Analysis of RWS Requirements

RWS requires massive operational support in l inen and clothing supply as well

as laundry and dry-cleaning services. The fol lowing is estimated based on the

dai ly requirements for approximately 12,000 staff and 1,800 hotel rooms.

• 40 tonnes of laundry for cleaning.

• 36,000 pieces of uniform and guest works.

SM Laundry & Linen is able to handle these operational requirements in al l

aspects from machinery to manpower resources. We wil l be a one-stop shop

for al l laundry and l inen needs for Resort World, Sentosa.



SM Laundry & Linen Solutions For Staff Attire/Clothing

SM Laundry & Linen wil l adopt a hol ist ic and integrated approach in tackl ing

the substantial operational requirements of RWS.

• Staff Attire/Clothing and Maintenance: SM Laundry & Linen wil l

provide specially-designed uniforms customized to suit each

individual hotel’s corporate identity. Maintenance wil l be handled entirely

by SM Laundry & Linen to help regulate costs and manpower resources

for the cl ient.

SM Laundry & Linen Operational Workflow

SM Laundry & Linen wil l support RWS by offering a seamless and hassle-free

operational workflow that is t imely and eff icient.

• Linen Collection & Delivery: SM Laundry & Linen wil l make four tr ips a

day to the hotels for col lection and del ivery.

• Staff Service & Support: SM Laundry & Linen wil l provide onsite

service and support by stationing at least one duty manager per hotel to

faci l i tate the col lection and del ivery. Special requirements or requests

wil l be handled promptly by our duty manager.

• Guest Laundry Services: SM Laundry & Linen wil l provide same-day

dry cleaning services for hotel guests.

• Onsite Equipment: SM Laundry & Linen wil l supply a double-decked

garment conveyor to each individual housekeeping department, enabling

cl ients to maximise space constraints and manpower resources.
