Smart City Technologies: Advantages By using data sensors and with the growth of data produced by citizen and devices, smart city technologies create an energy, environmental and security urban map. Smart city technologies are able to monitor and improve citizen’s well-being and to respond in real-time to everyday needs and topics, as: Traffic Congestion and Parking Flexible Mobility and Transport Waste Management Environment Monitoring Safety and Security Public and Infrastructure Services Lighting and Road Maintenance E-governance Planning Activities Green, Bike and Pedestrian Area Distribution Automate Bike and Car Sharing/Pooling Services Healthcare and Education Energy, Thermic and Water Consumption Monitoring and more Smart City Platform: Layered Structure The Smart City platform has an architecture based mainly on four layers, such as : Basic Infrastructures Connected Objects Delivery Platform Application and Services Basic Infrastructure is the main layer that enables the development of a smart city. This layer is based on synergies of some services, as telecommunications and Wi-Fi, transport networks, pollution control unit, smart grid, lighting sensor, waste assets, energy and water supply, and more. Data and user behaviour information, derived from basic infrastructure layer, are collected from Connected Objects and devices, which are the start point for the supply of smart services. Delivery Platform is a cloud-based platform, where Big Data processes are used for analyzing data and elaborating useful information to improve existing services and create others. Applications and Services are the point of contact with end-users and supply on-demand services, based on geolocalization.

Smart City on the way to 5G Mobile Build the City of the Future Today Smart City, Smart Live Smart City is an Urban Area able to create economic development and to improve quality of life through use of integrated technology and the optimization of available resources. Smart City Technologies: Advantages By using data sensors and with the growth of data produced by citizen and devices, smart city technologies create an energy, environmental and security urban map.

Smart city technologies are able to monitor and improve citizen’s well-being and to respond in real-time to everyday needs and topics, as: • Traffic Congestion and Parking • Flexible Mobility and Transport • Waste Management • Environment Monitoring • Safety and Security • Public and Infrastructure Services • Lighting and Road Maintenance • E-governance Planning Activities • Green, Bike and Pedestrian Area Distribution • Automate Bike and Car Sharing/Pooling Services • Healthcare and Education • Energy, Thermic and Water Consumption Monitoring and more

Smart City Platform: Layered Structure The Smart City platform has an architecture based mainly on four layers, such as :

• Basic Infrastructures • Connected Objects • Delivery Platform • Application and Services

Basic Infrastructure is the main layer that enables the development of a smart city.

5G: Future for a «Vibrant» Smart City 5G classifies Smart City Services within Massive Machine Type Connections (mMTC), where the challenge is the number of connections, with better speed and latency performance by:

• Enhanced Mobile Broadband (10+ Gbps and over) • Massive Machine Type Communication (100B+ Objects) • Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (1 msec)

5G will accelerate Smart City benefits by creating a system where everything will be connected.

M.U.S.I.C.A.: Smart City Project made for Municipality of Bari (*) M.U.S.I.C.A. is an acronym of «URBAN MONITORING through INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS for AGILE CITIES». The project is developed as part of a wide strategy that the city of Bari has already undertaken in Smart City scope, in order to govern economic and social processes and guide «strategical» and «operational» choices. M.U.S.I.C.A. project was awarded as the:

• Best Project in the field "Smart city, Big data and IoT for public administration” at Italian Forum PA 2017 • Best Practice at “European Public Sector Award (EPSA) 2017”,organized by European Institute of

Public Administration (EIPA) M.U.S.I.C.A. platform allows to measure:

• well-being level • environmental status • safety degree • energy efficiency • transport capacity • waste collection service quality • traffic and parking management

by heterogeneous datasources and to have a complete picture of the city with: • Detail Zone: Street/District/City Hall • Frequency: Real-Time/Daily

(*) Project financed by “Operational Program of Puglia (Italian Region) ERDF-ESF 2014-2020 Thematic Objective 2 - Action 2.2”
