The committee chaired by Secy, Energy, GoO, Members include CMD OPTCL, DG CPRI, expert from PGCIL, ex DG CPRI Sri AK Tripathy, Former Member OERC Sri BC Jena..


All power utilities of the

State, OREDA, GEDCOL,

are in the focus for the

initiative.

The committee is

map for the state by

SCOPE & BROAD PRINCIPLES

1 Underground Cabling for 132 KV and below Voltage level, where ever possible.

2 All additional Grid Sub-Stations shall be of GIS type, where space is a constraint.

3 Full AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure). SCADA with EMS & DMS should be

inbuilt into the System.

4 Renovation and Modernization of all existing Grids, 33/11kV S/S and Networks.

5 Additional features to ensure Disaster Resilience such as Wind Zone- 5 compliant

Towers/Poles.

6 Provision of Multi Circuit Lines as far as possible.

7 The System shall use Smart Grid Technology which will ensure more reliable

supply of electricity. Smart Grid should contain the futuristic plan as per IEC

61850 Protocol.

SCOPE & BROAD PRINCIPLES

8 The Grids shall have integration with Renewable Sources like Roof Top Solar/

Solar/ Municipality Solid Waste (MSW).

9 To provide Multiple Sources of Power to each Grid, the Network shall be

designed to have a Ring Supply System.

10 n-1 & n-2 reliability for important/ vital consumption points like Water Supply,

Hospitals, State Secretariat, Odisha Legislative Assembly etc.

11 Islanding of Power Network in the State Capital Region

Smart Grid in the context of Sm City

Bhubaneswar and Rourkela are declared as Smart Cities.

Proposals are under preparation

December 2015 – Selection of top 20 Proposals shall be known.

SCRIPS will now be expanded to cover Bhubaneswar Sm City.

A fresh proposal is prepared and approved for Rourkela Sm City

Assured Power to the Smart Cities is the key contribution expected from Smart Grids.
