http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/smash-newsletter-spring-term-2013 1/1
Our SMASH awards, which are nominated by class teachers, reward children for all their hard work during the
term and particularly focus on how the children contribute to class and school life.
We are now into our 4th term for the children to receive these trophies, and to see the joy on their faces whenthey receive their trophies is a lovely thing. See the school website for presentation photos and below for this
and last terms winners.

FundraisingThe Xmas Fayre was a huge success with £120 raised thanks to your support, the fantastic T-towels have so far raised
£500, we still have a few left if anyone wants to purchase one please see Mrs Earnshaw. The Bags2school collection in
September was a brilliant joint effort from children, parents and carers, foraging in their cupboards and lofts with the coll ection
raising £330. please help again if you can for the above collection date.
My name is Melanie Hughes and I am the SMASH secretary. I have been involved with fundraising for the
children at school since my son was in Nursery, he is now in year 3 and my daughter is in Reception. I gotinvolved as I wanted to show my children that I cared about their school and wanted to help the school providethings for them and other peoples children, which normally could not be budgeted for through normal schoolfunds. Fundraising is hard work, but I love the part where we can fund the contribution trophies at the end of term, the children's faces are fantastic when they know they have received one.
URGENT: We need more new members urgently, numbers are falling, and so are our ideas and hands to help with all the fundraising, it only
takes few hours every term to meet up and possibly help at events. If we
do not increase numbers, fundraising will no longer be able to be
completed and SMASH will fold. All monies raised go to our children, and
what it is spent on is decided by us, please help!!!

Spending At the recent SMASH meeting held on Tuesday 26th April, we discussed the following ways to support our school:
Sports kits such as Netball, Football and Gymnastics
Help with subsidising the cost of the ice creams when the school visit the pantomime at Christmas time.
Help is also needed with the cost of the residential to be conducted later in the year.
As you can see all children are included when we look to spend the monies raised.
