Go Mobile!By Kendra Smith 0004077097
The Impact of Mobilen The estimation for 2013 was
that there would be more mobile users accessing websites than desktop computers!n Today’s shopper is on
the go and on the lookout for convenience
n Creating a mobile market can ultimately enhance Collins Catering by generating more opportunities to reach and be reached
Presenter’s Notes: The way in which the web is being viewed is always evolving. In the more recent years, mobile devices have become the main way that websites are viewed. As a business,
it is important to consider how Collins Catering can benefit from this. Mobile device users are focused, driven, and usually
search with a purpose. If a potential customer gets on their mobile device to search for Collins Catering, what will they find? Is your site user friendly? Will users be able to access
your contact information easily? Is your web presence impactful enough to create interest? The answers to these
questions can make the difference between a potential customer and a person who became frustrated and moved on
in their research.
Consider The Customer
n More than likely, Collins Catering would be contacted by some type of event coordinatorn Probably researching
multiple companies at once
n Contact person is on the go and needs to be able to access your info anywhere at any time
n Estimated triple growth of mobile use to 1 billion by 2013
Presenter’s Notes: With the changing times in mind, Collins Catering has the opportunity to become more
targeted in its approach. With the increase in usage of mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets, it’s
important for your company to expand its reach on the web by developing your site to further cater to these needs. Your customer is more than likely using one or
more of these types of devices.
The Social Connection
n With an added mobile experience, Collins Catering can reach outside the scope of its website to other social media outlets like Facebook and Linkedin.n Facebook can market to
event hopefuls while Linkedin can connect you with other professionals that may later need your services
Presenter’s Notes: The use of social media on mobile devices can enhance your reputation and your ability to
reach potential customers you may have never reached by just your website. Your presence on sites like Facebook
and Linkedin are like windows into the day to day operations of your business and can create an interest or
“buzz” that will cause people to contact you and ultimately call upon your service! Again, social media is
another way to connect and reach people who are on the go. While a potential customer may not have the time to
sit at his or her desktop and view your site, they can easily go on their iPhone or Android device and Google your company or view your “Fan Page” on Facebook. Even
potential business partners may look you up on Linkedin to see your resume and overall history. Your presence on the web through mobile accessibility is one that should be
taken seriously!
Social Tag (Continued)n Social media can also help Collins Catering through
taggingn Other businesses and people overall can tag you in
statuses, in location apps, and more to further promote Collins Catering
n Apps like Foursquare can show how many people tag your company for their special events
n Tagging your company in statuses and pictures can draw attention to your Facebook page or website, thus gathering more opportunities to engage and reach
Driven to Focusn Going mobile will drive you
to a greater focus in terms of overall brandn Will help you to
determine what information is needed, what is not
n Will help you hone in on what the customer is most interested in
n Will ultimately help you grow
Presenter’s Notes: Going mobile will not only help you focus in terms of design, it
will help you focus in on what is important for your overall brand. By
ruling out what isn’t important, it helps you to spend more time and energy on building connections with your potential
customers. With a more focused marketing campaign, your customers will surely begin to see the brand and vision for Collins Catering, and it will
drive them to focus more on considering your service! Presentation always
makes a big difference.
Driven to Focus (Cont.)
n Focusing on content gives Collins Catering to focus on factsn Specific text: Contact info, shorter
descriptionsn Photos: Link to apps like Flickr, Facebook,
Tumblr, etc. (Lower speed will make viewing difficult)
n No video on website, maybe on Facebook, Instagram
From the Designern It’s important to
understand that this will require more effort on the part of your officen A desired ability to
handle the website in-house will mean more awareness of design elements
Presenter’s Notes: If you want the web design to take place in-house, I suggest using a web host that has a focus on web device integration. By this, the web host will have a “mobile version” of your site without you having to separately design a version
to be used on mobile devices across the board. Host sites like Squarespace are a great example of
this capability. Do not be overwhelmed by the pricing. In this case, the pricing is completely worth the confidence you will have in the service. The site
is almost never down, and it has a lot of opportunities for questions as well as a line to call
for any issues.
Go Mobile Summaryn Overall, going mobile
can not only grow your business, it can further engage customers and develop your BRAND into one that withstands time.n It’s a combination
of design as well as maintaining contact and influence.
Presenter’s Notes: With a tentative plan between Collins Catering and your web design consultant,
your team can easily redesign your website through a hosting site and maintain it. Not only that, your
team can begin the journey to engaging your viewers by inviting them to join your social network and keying in on what Collins Catering is up to. Over time, this will develop your brand into one that is
memorable. It will be promoted by your customers, which is the best kind of marketing there is!
